I love the music in the fishing shows, between segments and stuff, it gets me pumped for fishing. BUT I don't like it if they play music while they are actually fishing or landing fish. It takes away from the fishing experience.

I'm crying in my cornflakes with jealousy. I miss bass/crappie/fishing in a boat for something of value. lol Nice work GCD!

Ha, I got the display version. It came with the model. Was a fun day out on the Mighty Lynn! I am addicted to winter carp. Next thing to look forward to is spring channel cats!

Sugarpacket's brother "Tom" accompanied us today in another fishing trip on the Mighty Lynn for more winter carp. Things were pretty good at the get go as it only took about 15 minutes to hook into the first fish (for me of course, hegh hegh) but this fish was spry and decided to not only run into Sugarpacket's line but also snag me under a rock before giving me the finger and taking off. At least I assume he gave me the finger. Or was it the fin? Anyway, next cast, I was almost instantly into another one. A scrapper, lots of fun. Not sure if the pic shows but one of his pectoral fins was a little disfigured. Not sure if it was a battle scar or a deformity from the Lynn's pristine waters. hahaha Splenda also tried his hand fishing with mommy today. In this pic, they were borrowing Uncle Tom's rod. Splenda never did get any but had a blast nonetheless before settling in for a nap. Then it was Sugarpacket's turn as she hooked one right in the current. It nearly took her rod in with it. Finally after toying with this fish for like an hour, I caught the final dinky carp of the night. It was a great afternoon on the mighty Lynn, looking forward to tomorrow's sequel.

Okay so I can't count apparently, I only bought 13. lol I realize that a lot of these won't run true, but I have a lotta time before spring to tune them in the local duck park. If they don't work.. then who cares, I'm only out by a buck. If I'm fishing ponds or whatever those little topwaters should be great.

I can't see anyone complaining about any episode of eXtreme Angler TV.

Try a heavy bell sinker. Been working for me on carp and has worked in the past for rainbows when I used to fish them. -
Depends what you're fishing for. Walleye & Perch I always tip with a minnow or waxie. Crappie - I might throw a waxie on or some maggots. Pike and other fish I usually won't tip unless it's a really slow bite and I do it as a last resort.

I was wondering how long it would be before someone got an OOS chromer down there. Nice eye!

Weather was a lot nicer last year. lol

Most of the time the best way to jig is give it a tiny twitch and wait 30 seconds to a minute before giving it another twitch. Great baits. Always been more of a "Kastmaster' man myself though.

Ooh... ahh...

Yeah.. but when a Dollarama gets crushed you're out $1. When a Rapala does (had iy happen first fish with an X Rap) you're $8 or more. In the spirit of this post I went and bought 14 lures yesterday from the dollarama.

Congrats Rolly!

Bah, I just make the wife do the dirty work.

I dropped a line down for channel cats on Sunday, lol, never got any

The crankbaits have never run properly for me, and I've bought several. If you have some time to spare you can tune them right though. Other than that, the other baits work well. I've been impressed with the Dollarama stuff actually, lol. They have a Chug Bug imitation now that I can't wait to try. I swapped the hooks and dressed the rear end a bit, but still a nice lookin' bait.

Sugarpacket and I got Splenda a babysitter for my b-day and headed down for some local carp on the Mighty Lynn. To be honest with the amount of times we've pounded this spot plus the cold weather I didn't expect to catch anything but just enjoyed getting out. We made a pit stop at Timmies and were on the water by the crack of noon. I set up my high-tech carping equipment and was good to go. Remember, these are spry fish, so always bury your Timmies cup rod holder deep into the snow to avoid slippage. It wasn't long before I was into the first little guy of the day. It was a good opportunity to test out my new net, which worked great. After a short tussle this little dude was on shore. Sugarpacket headed up a little further than me to try and coax one out of the current. No luck up there.. lots of bites but no hookups. A little while later I was into another one, this one was a good one. After a pretty long and drawn out fight (considering it's January) I managed to bring this carp into the net. Not a bad one for this spot. Finally, after discussing some tips with Sugarpacket she gave in and tried my approach. It wasn't long before she got into her only carp of the day. A smaller one, but scrappy nonetheless. Lots of fun. And that's the sum of all the carp action that day. Afterwards had a gourmet dinner at Arby's (LOL) and saw a movie. The Bucket List - awesome movie. How can you go wrong with Jack Nicholson though. Thanks Sugarpacket for the awesome birthday fishin' trip looking forward to many more!

Tilapia is one of the most mild you can buy at a grocery store, and one of the lowest priced. Haddock is one of my favorites, mild too but more versatile than tilapia. And why not say walleye? Perch and walleye are perhaps THE most mild of fish and can be baked, broiled or barbecued.

Awesome Steve, thanks for the report. Hopefully I'll be out that way & see ya Sunday.
