  1. :clapping: :clapping: Big congratulations to Sydney! Way to go!
  2. Holy cow Steve nice work
  3. Wow, what a crappie. Definitely a white crappie. Congrats - no matter how this turns out, you've got a ton of OFC'ers who know you caught the Canadian record white crappie.
  4. I don't mean to hijack this thread - but can anyone verify if it's necessary to carry an ownership on a 14' aluminum boat? I didn't even think they gave you one with a small boat..
  5. Money and power. lol Nah, seeing kids fishin' makes me feel great and fills me with hope for the future of the sport.
  6. I check this board and post reports on this board before I do on MY OWN board, LOL! It rules. I always found it helpful for anything I asked, fishing or non-fishing related. Sure there are bad apples in the bunch, but there are lots of awesome people here ready to help ya out. Not to mention all the friendship's I've made here. I hope OFC stays just the way it is. By the way, I found it more "chat between Lakair fishers" about 3 years ago when I joined than I do now. Now there's people from everywhere, fishing for everything. I love all the carp posts especially!
  7. Nice report Johnny, with or without pics. Sounds like a great day to me. Especially with a bass tournament going on in the area.
  8. I barbecue them when they're under 5lbs. Make sure you get off all the slime, wrap each fillet in tin foil and put the BBQ on low. I put a ton of lemon juice and whatever spices I'm in the mood for on the fillets. Usually turns out great. Try to cut out the darker red meat close to the skin before eating. It tastes gross and apparently holds the majority of the pollutants.
  9. I don't go nuts on color. Light colors for bright days (occasionally chartreuse or flo. pink for a reaction bite), darker colors for cloudy/rainy days, and black for night fishing. Has always worked well for me. Or in the case of musky - black/orange no matter what. lol
  10. Sheesh, makes me worry about taking out the Filth Hound. It was passed down from my grandfather to my dad and to me. If there ever was an ownership it was lost about 20 years ago..
  11. I have a float tube. Lots of fun to use, though I've barely used it since I rarely fish alone.
  12. Good stuff man!
  13. If I'm not mistaken, Johnny got his big kitty in my neck of the woods a couple years back. Wish I still had the pic, biggest cat I've seen since then at that spot too.
  14. 8 feet of water on the weed edges off St Williams or Port Rowan. You were too far out and too far from the shallow weeds they inhabit during the summer. If you want big perch right now though, you're best off in the outer bay. Bluff's, Normandale, Port Ryerse, Woollies Point, Dover off the pumphouse or German house, Nanticoke.. all good bets. Good work on the smallies. Good to see they are still hanging around the inner bay. Another couple of weeks they'll be gone I bet.
  15. Stuff happens. A fish that is primarily a bottom feeder such as carp is likely to pick up pollutants and therefore disease from it's diet. I'd bet all these carp die-offs have a lot to do with gobies, which are like pollutant magnets. Though people seem to think carp are vegetarians - they're not. They'll eat crayfish, worms and yes small fish off bottom. Throw in a goby - a fish that's small enough to fit in their mouth and probably not fast or smart enough to swim away and carp are sure to eat 'em.
  16. I dunno, I've had bass come around 5 seconds after release and nail the same lure. Rare though. Yeah I think they get conditioned, especially on smaller waterbodies. I know carp do for sure.
  17. We call them "treats" down here.. but that's an inside joke. lol
  18. Sunfish? Yah cuz I can see their populations are in real threat of extinction. LOL Hand him a copy of the fishing regulations next time. I love a good feed of big bluegills!
  19. Good to see MILF is still alive!
  20. Sorry bout that, I just liked the color of your waders..
  21. I had a 2lb largemouth literally crush one... good side is I only wasted a buck. lol Better than a 10 dollar X Rap getting crushed!
  22. If you look back far enough in history, your bass and pike shouldn't be there either. The Thames should be a premier trout river. By the way, bass and pike fishing is great in the Thames. I've caught bass to 3lbs in downtown London.
  23. An American bass pro with bad behaviour at a boat launch? UNHEARD OF! You were obviously the one causing the trouble Cliff, those bass pros own the lake! Glad nothing was damaged. Other than that - great report! Good to see the little one out enjoying fishing with you two! I gotta get me a bow mount for the filth hound too. I hear ya about controlling with a transom mount in the wind. Impossible!
  24. Nice salmon! Not my cup of tea fishing for them but I certainly can respect why others are so into them. Nice work!
