  1. When I see hordes of coontail as far as the eye can see and then a really distinct drop in the weeds (not a transition, simply a drop in depth), well I know I'm in for just about anything that swims. The secondary weedlines that nobody seems to fish. That's where my confidence bursts.
  2. No worries Greg. Even the carp down here are still on and off. After a few good days I think they are in for good, then the next 2 days nothing. Need the warmth to stick around a little longer!
  3. lol this is sugarpacket bbr didn't sign off!!!!
  4. I think if I were a fish I would be a Bass, since I have been told I do have a big mouth
  5. Carp are among the smartest fish that swim. You resemble your prized catch - the perch!
  6. Don't you work anymore? Nice toothies! Whatcha doin on the weekend?
  7. Sturgeon has both great walleye and crappie fishing this time of year. That'd be my top choice. I cottage in the area.
  8. Looks more like a walleye bait than a musky bait. Add about 8 inches to it and I might try it. lol
  9. A carp, because I could be lazy and eat all day without a care in the world. LOL
  10. I think you forgot to add the real pics hun.. lol
  11. "All you need is a Panther Martin #2" These fish are loaded in every spot I have fished so far locally. Gotta love it. I'm not sure if they're stocked or if the last 2 colder springs have just brought awesome year classes, either way brookie fishing is awesome. No live bait required!
  12. Ya, I go to work and you go out catching fishing rods and WGSF....
  13. We've thrown my 14' on top of an S-10, minivan, Pontiac Sunfire.. sure your Pathfinder would have no problems. Strap some pool noodles to the sides of it though or you'll have one heck of an ugly paintjob up there.
  14. Zara Mag Spook is good, I like Poe's Awakers they are kinda hard to find though. Bought a custom musky buzzbait, it's about 10x the size of my bass buzzbaits can't wait to give that a shot!
  15. Fishing was slow all day (except for bluegill fishing) then suddenly right before we're about to leave Sugarpacket and I hook into a double header. Little guys but still lots of fun!
  16. Enlighten me.. what's funny about it?
  17. Bass should by all means be open in the great lakes year-round IMO. But until the OMNR comes to it's senses about it, I'll glady read the reports from the guys who are legally chasing them on the NY side. Good for them. Much better to see bass legally caught in the US than "incidental" out of season bass shots from the Ontario side. The law is still the law.
  18. I don't know how you do it Nauti, I must admit I am in awe. I tried for years various methods to try and coax carp from the pier. Only ones I ever got were incidental while fishing perch. You've figured out a strategy to actually target them from the pier. Awesome. Ya gotta fill me in on your secret!
  19. Nice "small" pike! Though I think I know the lake you were fishing, if it's the one I think then yeah that is a small one in comparison to the big girls living there!
  20. Oh god, I'd love to get my hands on that cut bait.. Mooneye by the way
  21. Thanks for the help guys, there will be lots of pics/video upon our return make no mistake!
  22. Well I do like Spiderwire Stealth..
  23. We are headed up for our annual kawartha musky opener trip but we are going up a day early this year. Decided that the first day since musky aren't open yet we will spend much of the day targetting walleye and crappies. I don't normally target the 'eyes this time of year. What types of structure are they hanging to lately, the usual weedlines in 8 - 10 fow? Trolling or jigging? No specifics needed, just wondering what types of structure we should be covering. Thanks in advance!
  24. After you mentioned the pickerel rig, I was sure who that nice lady was. There are more ways to get them down there than a pickerel rig though.
  25. I don't really mind. A fish is a fish. Trout is no better than any fish to me. My favourite is hooking a honking carp on the trout gear. Now that's fun!
