I usually throw it all together an hour before the trip. LOL which 99% of the time means forgetting several important things. I'm just not organized.

Well, that is much faster. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, always have just put corn on the hook.. lol no idea how to use a hair rig still. My attempts at tying them fail every time! I have successfully used the pre-tied ones with doughballs ONCE. haha And Candice always catches the biggest fish, that's why I prefer leaving her at home. LOL jk

Are these coming from the Niagara? Wow, I knew they were there but never thought they were actually targettable. May have to give it a shot sometime. I rarely get to fish 'eyes around these parts. Great report either way! Thanks for sharing.

It took forever to hook and land one, not to mention this particular spot is loaded with obstacles. I try to avoid fishing at this spot but it does produce fish if you can keep them out in the open. Anywho, I landed one today. Special flavoured corn was the ticket. Upon looking into the water with polarized glasses I noticed some GIANTS swimming around, one was easily pushing 40 pounds, it made this one seem like a baby! If only she would have bitten.

I tried to use Youtube before in the past, it always wouldn't let me upload anything over a 10 min video. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems Youtube only allows short videos? Thanks for the comments though, everybody!

My brother will make his return to pro MMA on June 20

Good luck to him. MMA takes a lot of skill and determination. Not to mention years of practice and training. Hope he nails one for OFC! haha -

Meat Cutter for Loblaws and could definitely continue cutting meat for the rest of my life. I really enjoy it. Of course, fishing for a living would be better.. but what can ya do?

Sugarpacket and I have had a fishing filled week. Tuesday afternoon we headed out to film an episode of Action Angling here at our stomping grounds on the Lynn River. Wouldn't ya know it, with cameras rolling Sugarpacket nails two of the biggest carp from the Lynn this year - a 10 and a 12lb carp. Me? Well don't ask. At least I didn't get skunked. lol Wednesday night we headed out for some bigger Lake Erie carp but just got impatient and decided to head to the waterfront in Port Dover for perch. We didn't have any minnows so we just used worms from the local convenience store. We were rewarded with 14 keepers in about 3 hours. Not to mention some WGSF! SP spanked me again, as I think I only caught 4 of the keepers. I kept the small ones away from her so she could fill the pail. The next day, same thing only with minnows this time. Nailed 8 in the first 5 minutes then were booted out of our spot because boats were pulling in. Moved around the waterfront area and managed 24 keepers by the end of the afternoon. Hard to beat fresh Lake Erie perch!

It's called "biker's night" where all the bikers from across Canada come to Port Dover and party 'er up. The Port Dover board of trade has actually franchised "Friday 13th" as booths coming to sell merchandise during the event have to sell 'official' sanctioned Friday 13th apparel. It costs 25 bucks a t-shirt at wholesale - do the math on how much profit they make. Bah-humbug. I hate Friday 13th. Why can't the bikers just go where everyone else goes - Toronto!

3 inch grubs and jigheads, get a lot of different colors. Good to use everywhere for just about anything!

The 2007 - 2008 Guide to Eating Ontario Sport Fish

Look at Daryl Chronzy. A diet of fish does not necessarily make you skinny! -
I try to avoid my history of being a bass fisherman.. but this year I really miss it. Largemouth for me, what can I say, once an addict always an addict.

I was there last night, just slaying the perch .. then the boats showed up. Never did understand why people that live in town have to bring their boats to the pier rather than just walk or drive in (they have residence passes anyway). Anywho, cut our perchin' short. Report to come though. It was already a nut house on Tuesday night, last night unbearable. Won't catch me in town on the 13th. Been through that enough when I lived there!

I also found with jigs (not sure if someone mentioned this) that you have to watch the line to see the bites rather than feel it in the rod. You see a little tick in the line or it seems to be moving, set the hook. Dad taught me when I started fishing jigs "there's no shame in setting the hook into nothing at all, more shame in missing a big fish because you were hesitant"

I've never found a spot on the Grand in Brantford that wasn't full of bass. You should do well there. Download Google Earth and find ponds and small lakes in the area for bass fishing. They've all got bass in them.

BASS SEASON IS NOT OPEN UNTIL THE 4TH SAT IN JUNE
Rich replied to steverowbotham's topic in General Discussion
I've been saying the same thing since I was 12 years old, at least on the great lakes a year round (with C&R restrictions) season would not hurt anything. -

Bass are like fleas on the kawarthas. You can move on 50 times and you'll still be catching bass while perch fishing. A little different are the guys tossing bass sized "musky spinnerbaits" or topwaters in the shallows and just happen to be catching bass. Saw lots of those "hardcore musky guys" when we were up last weekend. -
I always do better alone, but hate to fish alone. I just tend to get bored without a partner in the boat.

My dad bought his bass boat from Frank at Boatland about 12 years ago, when they were still in Bowmanville. Always dealt well with them afterward when it came to repairs, customizations, etc. Thought he hasn't dealt with them for a few years now.

Bought store-bought rabbit once (it was on for half price) and decided that next time I won't waste the money on something that tastes like bland chicken drumsticks. Sugarpacket informs me that wild rabbits have a totally different, much nicer flavour.
