Well if you get past the toxic waste fumes the fishing can be great, lol Used to get a lot of pike off Lasalle Park. Fish about 12 - 20 feet of water near any weeds you can find, look for bait on your fish finder if you got one. Trolling's productive, casting's more fun!

Long Point Bay for the annual derby. Never miss it!

Why 50 point? You could probably catch the same sorts of things flatlining around Hamilton Bay. You could also catch pike or perch in the harbour. Catfish and carp too.

I know I posted the article, but I can't say whether I support electric cars or not. I like the idea of giving the gas companies some competition in hopes of lowering gas prices, however our country is already having electricity production problems. Electric cars would only worsen that and likely raise hydro prices. It seems kinda lose/lose to me either way. The worst part is, a viable solution has probably been discovered and patented - the powers that be are just keeping it quiet.

Nice. That second one looks like a musky with a desk job. LOL not a mark on it. Awesome.

I was in Brantford yesterday and it went from bright and sunny and in a split second suddenly it was dark and hailing on us. It didn't last long, but dang that hail was pea sized it hurt coming down. We watched it smack a dragonfly out of the air and kill it. What are the chances of that?!

That reminds me of a couple weeks ago when I was fishing in Port Dover from the pier. Port Dover is home of Lake Erie's largest commercial fishing fleet on the Canadian side. It's also home to a perch derby every spring from the pier. Anyway, this boat pulls up right where we are fishing. He says he is going to park his boat there. We move over. Another guy yells "hey there's another boat parking there soon" .. we come back 2 hours later and I ask the guy where's this boat that's pulling in? He says it's coming. I say well we can fish here til it gets here then. He then goes on a rant and informs me that "Port Dover isn't a fishing community, it's a boating community" I find that very funny - I lived there for 10 years of my life and it was always a fishing community. Boaters are tards! I don't mean people who have boats to fish out of, I mean people who have boats to waste their money and show off how they stupidly waste their money. I should have went back that night and accidentally untied the ropes to their boats!

Nice work. Some real good ones. I'd get my scale checked. lol

Above the dam in Dunnville is a better summer time spot for cats. Are you after bullheads or channel cats? Both can be caught on the upper river. There is a public park and launch on the north side of the river just past the dam. If it helps, I caught a couple (a bullhead and a small channel cat) on worms at the bridge on Cockshutt in Brantford yesterday.

Shads spawn 3 or 4 times a year, could have been their "summer spawn". I can just imagine the pike down there going nuts on them!
-
You're right Dano, upon closer inspection I think that is the river, not snow. lol dang cell phone pics. I apologize for the snooty remark.

Snow in June, must've been at the Saugeen in Nunavut

I think your musky is a pike. Nice one though!

Source: http://ca.news.yahoo.com MONTREAL (AFP) - Despite increasing local demand for zero-emissions cars and trucks and robust exports of electric vehicles, Canada will not allow them on its roads, lament manufacturers. ADVERTISEMENT "It's a daily embarrassment," said Ian Clifford, president of Zenn Motor Company, which builds "zero emissions no noise" vehicles in Canada for export primarily to the United States. "Even my employees can't drive to work in a Zenn. It's absurd," he said of federal and provincial rules that forbid electric cars from being driven on most Canadian roads. Clifford's frustration is aggravated by the view that Canadians are increasingly concerned about the environment and are said to be eager to drive electric vehicles in this warming climate. "We build the car in St. Jerome (Quebec) and ship them all south of the border," where 44 states allow them, and some 45,000 electric cars are in use today, he said. But Transport Canada says the vehicles made of lightweight metals and plastics are not safe to drive on Canada's open roads, and would not stand up in a collision. The regulatory agency has so far certified only five models as road-worthy, including the Zenn, and two others that are no longer in production, said Transport Canada spokeswoman Maryse Durette. But most provinces, which have jurisdiction over the vast majority of roads and highways in the country, have balked at giving electric cars the green light, citing Transport Canada's safety concerns. "We found Transport Canada to be very hostile towards low speed electric vehicles," echoed Danny Epp of Dynasty Electric Car in an email to AFP. The Canadian company was recently sold to a Pakistani group which plans to move production to Karachi and continue exporting its vehicles to the United States. According to reports, others allege political bias, noting Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservative government's base of support in oil-rich Alberta province. To date, only westernmost British Columbia allows low speed electric vehicles on its urban roads. This week, Quebec in eastern Canada announced a three-year pilot project that would permit starting in July the Zenn and an electric truck called Nemo on its roads with posted speed limits of 50 kilometers (31 miles) per hour. Manufacturers are hoping Quebec's pilot may spur its neighbors to jump on the bandwagon and eventually make it possible to drive an electric car from coast to coast across all 10 of Canada's provinces. "We hope it will lead to changes," said Jacques Rancourt, head of utility truck maker Nemo, based in Montreal. But the road promises to be uphill all the way, he said. Despite their widespread use in the United States and strong sales, there are still technical improvements to be made, say experts, such as boosting the life of batteries used in electric vehicles to allow them to go further. Hydro Quebec subsidiary TM4, which makes electric motors for the Cleanova electric car built by a subsidiary of France's Dassault auto group, is working on a new more powerful lithium-ion battery for use in electric vehicles. According to Quebec's Transport Minister Julie Boulet, TM4 is also seeking to partner on the project with a large automaker, which she refused to name. "The battery is really at the heart of the matter to get electric cars rolling," said Hydro Quebec spokesman Flavie Cote. "We all want exceptional performance from a battery that doesn't take long to recharge, at a low cost."

Awesome fish! -
I have yet to fish Quinte. By the sounds of it, I'm missing out. Might have to go visit my uncle up there this summer or fall. He has waterfront property near Picton.

Nice work. Upper Grand, Lower Grand? Good to see some practicing catch and release. I can't say I'd do the same, too hard to resist fresh walleye. lol
-
If you are without a baitrunner I recommend turning the drag really loose on your reel, then clamping down on the spool when you finally set the hook. Just as good as a bait runner, just a lot of extra annoying steps. At first you will lose fish because you will fumble with it. Once you set hook you have to re-adjust the drag. Takes practice, but it does work. I'd still rather have a Baitrunner though!

Man that's awesome!!
-
No eric i was fishing at a pond i fished way before i met you that you also happened to know about
-
Nah, he grabbed the fish right up to the hook and ended up ripping it right off. I have hooked them before and just cut the line. I ain't risking my hand for no stinkin' turtle. lol

Sugarpacket was nailing the panfish yesterday when this guy decided he'd nail the panfish too.. literally. Her new PB, LOL

Ahh, I love the people who try to kick you out of marinas when you're in the boat. Always fun to win an argument.

I bought 20lbs of this stuff from the local feed store in hopes of saving money on carp bait this season. I boiled the stuff in a brown sugar/sugar solution I normally use for frozen corn, however after 20 minutes of boiling it still stayed hard as a rock, and cracked when I attempted to rig it. Is there a better way to soften this corn? Hope I didn't waste my time buying this stuff to end up feeding it to the birds, LOL
