  1. Nice to hear the herring gave you some action. I'm not suggesting you kept any, but isn't there still an all year closed season for Simcoe herring ?
  2. Good shooting Jed. I'll give 'er another shot this weekend.
  3. I totally agree with you fishergirl. I can't wait for all the females to start peeling off their clothes.
  4. Heard about it on the news tonight. Hope they're right about it evaporating ?
  5. "DELAWANA INN ?"
  6. Looks like a good time. Those are some awesome prizes.
  7. Hey that's great. More exposure will hopefully bring out more people. I even showed my best side for the camera, the back side.
  8. You can add another zero Gerritt. NO FISH !!! No worries bud. Most of us were in the same situation.
  9. Beauty whitefish spoonman. Glad to hear a few fish were co-operating.
  10. Welcome to our OFC community Mikcol. Enjoy the ride.
  11. I think you'll be fine. If you don't see anyone out there fishing, just let the bigger guys go first.
  12. Nice pics Gerritt. I have to admit I was a little teary eyed myself watching the festivities. At one point, my 7 year old son stares at me for a bit and says, "Dad, what's wrong with your eyes ?" I shake it off and snarl, "Nothing, just had something in my eye buddy." When the national anthem was sung, I made the whole family stand up, even though we were at home, as a show of respect for the anthem, the country, the hockey legends and all those who fought for us in the wars. The announcer asked everyone to remove their hats for the singing of the national anthem and the camera catches one young guy and his girlfriend. He had a baseball cap on backwards, but refused to remove it. Looked as if they argued a bit with the camera capturing the whole thing. JERK ! Bobby Baun still has those massive hands. Dave Keon looked very frail and a little emotional in a brief post ceremony interview, but great to have him back.
  13. Sorry to hear Sherri was injured Lew. I wish her a quick recovery.
  14. Sorry douggiE. No experience with that unit. I have a 17 year Lowrance Sonar/GPS on the boat and a Magellan hand held that's a few years old.
  15. Nice to have you back Dano. High speed sure is nice. I was on dial up for 5 or 6 years before switching. WOW !!!
  16. I didn't attend and really had no plans to go, although it would have been nice to see some familiar faces. Money spent at the show = $0.00. Spent the morning painting and I'll be moving furniture this evening before the hockey game. Right now, I'm off to see about getting new parts for my central vac. Tomorrow I'll be getting a few things ready for next weeks charity fishing tourney at Innisfil.
  17. Play nice boys. .....but that was a nice comeback Roy.
  18. Sorry to hear of the fishless day for you, but at least you got out there and little c had fun.
  19. We were there for the May long weekend about 10 years ago. Considering it was our first time on the lake, we did well with a bunch of chunky walleye 2-3 lb., some sweet lakers in the 3-5 lb. range and one surprise 10+ pound pike that hit a walleye spinner. We also nailed a couple of big lakers that weren't happy about being hooked and had no intention of seeing a landing net. We never got them to the boat. I love catching lakers. Those big tails aren't just for looking pretty. Lots of bulldog style power in those fish. Some other guests at the camp were only after pike and nailed some 14-16 pounders with a couple of bigger fish getting off the hook or just followed baits without striking. Kippawa is a huge, deep lake with lots of bays and islands and holds huge fish. Easy to get lost, so get a map and mark your location as you go. All lakers were caught trolling various small to midsize spoons, bombers and rapalas. Some flatlining and some off the downriggers. They were all over from 10ft. to 100ft. of water and hitting from just under the surface to 90ft. down. All walleye were caught on a hook and worm under a balsa wood float at dusk and dawn in a nearby bay with a small channel entrance that provided a slight current. Lots of people get them jigging with worms, minnows and plastics near current areas. The pike was caught on a small mepps spinner tipped with a worm at mid day with the sun beating down on us. I guess he was on the prowl for a walleye lunch too. Hope this info helps. Don't forget the camera. Good luck.
  20. I guess the "2 cents" phrase is getting on in age. With inflation, I think opinions should be worth at least a dime. So,...."That's my dime!"
  21. Nice to have you back Johnny. Can't wait for your next fishing report.
  22. Thanks for the reminder Gerritt. I'll be watching for sure. I still remember having Dave Keon's hockey card in my collection when I was very young. It should be an emotional time for both fans and players alike, especially those who were around for the last cup victory. I don't think this ceremony would be the same without Keon. Nice to have him back in Toronto. Maybe he'll bring some magic here for the current team.
  23. Awesome stuff !!! Almost 11 feet of ice. You need some nasty temps for a long time to get ice that thick. I would think there are a few extensions added to the original auger. There are loaded tractor trailers that drive across frozen lakes and rivers up there in winter. Full size plows keep the ice roads clear of heavy snow. I think the ice has to be at least 3+ feet thick before the trucks can use the winter route. It would have to be to support the weight safely. Not a drive for wimps. Lots of pressure cracks and insane weather. Not a nice place to get stranded either. Better have a good radio for communication.
  24. I wouldn't mind at all, but can't make it tomorrow night. Don't forget the weather is looking like it'll be nasty. Have a good time if you go and drive safe.
