  1. Haven't been to Stoco in years , but if you are interested in 40" fish probably the Kawarthas are your best best, if you are in fish over 40 pounds then try Stoco. It wouldn't surprise me that if you could assemble the data Stoco has produced more 40 pound fish per acre than any lake in Onatrio.
  2. Looks like a fine day out there, my big old weeping willow is hanging dead still here 200 yards off the lake and the weather buoy is saying waves .3 ft and winds very light out of the south. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=45139
  3. very fitting R.I.P. Jon Lord (9 June 1941 – 16 July 2012)
  4. Got the DVD now been playing the crap out of it loud with headphones, these guys would have been heroes in the 70's right up there with Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath. To all the pretenders playing rock in the last 20 or so years , hang your head in shame, tuck your tail between your legs and quietly exit stage left, this is how you do it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/S_TWamp128k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> edit: one more, classic rock being played live today love the comments on you tube <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/DJ7H3AHPB28" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  5. What size Convector??? the 30 is a perfect fit for 1000 feet of wire, a 45 size will need some backing.
  6. http://www.ontariowalleyefishing.com/walleye-biology.html The name walleye was chosen by some think tank in 1933, my dad called them yellow and blue pickeral in Lake Erie since he predated that , the Americans on Erie called them yellow and blue pike from what I remember in the 50's.
  7. Don't look too pleasant at 50 Point http://www.fpyc.ca/webcam/default.php I'm 1 street off the lake here and can see it from the end of my drive, not good and building.
  8. Worse than losing a day due to rough conditions, we are going to have the west end fill up with warm water, especially Grimsby around to Bronte and the fish will be gone when it does flatten out
  9. Nice rig for the big water, good luck with the resto. If you come across OMC outdrive parts at a salvage for your unit, you might want to stockpile them, OMC stuff is getting hard to find.
  10. Haven't had it in a long time but remember it being pretty zippy for a ginger ale, closer to the old ginger beers.
  11. I've still got the first spinning reel that I bought with my own money, a JW Young Ambidex #4, everyone has Mitchell 300's back in the early 60's , I wanted something different My dad was a avid fisherman and tournament caster, so he got me good stuff when I was younger, my very first spinning reel back in the late 50's was an Airex Spinster, built by the Lionell model train people
  12. Lots of old soda bottles from this region here, some milk bottles too that you other old timers may remember http://www.ecbw.ca/tim_maitland_collection/index.htm
  13. Any one remember Kist brand soda pop?
  14. Unfortunately I beleieve it has been some years since salmon were stocked in Lake Erie, but then steelhead are salmon.
  15. Believe it the think tank that sets the quotas for Erie has put the allowable harvest for sport and commercial perch at 13.6 million pounds, are you getting your share? http://www.chathamdailynews.ca/2012/04/02/ministry-ups-fish-quotas
  16. I will admit a optional silent anti reverse would be a bonus but I always fish with the anti reverse engaged.
  17. 50 years of using a spinning reel and I use it all the time, the biggest birdnests come from slipping off the handle on a good fish and the reel backpedalling, I can't imagine having to keep hold of the handle all the time on a good fish.
  18. The great rock of the seventies still lives, my favorite guitarist of the last decade, an young guy on drums with rock in his genes and an old timer who still got his vocals, rock on <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/aB_JQWX9uOE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  19. there is a good sized city park at the launch area of Port Colborne, lots of parking maybe something could be worked out at that location.
  20. Dave Mull is the editor of "Great Lakes Angler" magazine, probably got thousands of hours of big water boating experience salmon fishing , also does seminars on salmon fishing with Dan Keating, very recognized name with salmon fishermen. Kinda like the last person you would think would get himself in a pickle like that.
  21. I got a bass on a gimmick lure that looked like a Budwiser can, with bass anything is possible
  22. ^^^^^^ guess we knew that post was coming
