  1. I 100% agree with you on that as far as my spring/summer fishing has proved. Also...I like the idea of sleeping in and then lolligagging my way to the lake for the evening bite
  2. Nice eyes man! I too have been hunting for them since early January and only have 2 eyes to show . Have you tried the evening bite at your lake instead of the morning bite?
  3. I own 5 daiwa feels (tierras and advantages) all on Croix rods. But after looking at the drag rating and the weight of the patriarch and the new supreme I think I'll be putting either of those on my next couple rods. I think the new supreme in a 1500 size on a 6' med lite fast st. Croix legend elite will be a handy light weight jig rod.
  4. Yah, I really thought he had a PB Speck on the line when I seen the handle of his rod straight up out of the hole thrashing around . Thats an 09' Admiral. There was close to 2 feet in there last weekend...definitely gonna be snowshoe territory from here on out
  5. Well for the few (if any) people who were wondering where I went, my lifes been pleasently busy with me starting College full-time for a 2 year Millwright course and working the industrial labour thing on the weekends. Moose and Deer season went by in a flash, saw one buck, no shot. Not a single moose was spotted in the whopping 3 days I had time to hunt the big buggers. Bought one of these to extend my hunting season and fend off the cabin fever... Been hunting for those stupid bug eyed green trout through the ice...only got 2, 4 pounders under my belt, along with about 4 million pike Even managed to get up into LSPP for 2 days. I didn't fair well with only 3 pan sized specks and a lost "nice one" at the hole. My fishin partner wrangled this nice Laker out though along with another slightly smaller one the next day....in 5 feet of water ... So thats been my fall/winter so far. I'm taking February off to buy an HDS-7 and some more rods/reels/tackle that I'll need for the upcoming Walleye season.
  6. X2 with Ben. A 6' or 6'3" fast or extra fast action rod with a lure weight rating of 1/8-3/8 ounce or 1/4-1/2 is just about perfect whether running braid or the...."other" stuff
  7. You ain't got no hair at all Dara
  8. Working, going to college, shooting guns and bows and trying to catch glossy eyed toothy fish through the ice. Tryin to get back on OFC with some regularity again. How have you been Dr. Sal?
  9. Dara likes the wood, don't let him lie to you.... I got a simple, clean, cheap design you might be able to work with and avoid drilling into those gorgeous Alumacraft gunnels. I'll post a pic or two tomorrow
  10. You bunch of dope smokin' hippies
  11. Imagine all the fishin' a guy could do with a boat like that
  12. Call me if you want a partner. You know the number!
  13. I can't let Mr.Graham give me heat, he's a steelheader....yuck.
  14. HA! Great shots. Don't think I could kill a tree'd bear, but if you're hunting for food, drop that sucker and call the season DONE!!!!!!
  15. The Pinks seem to be in in full force in the "rapids". We were getting all sorts of action on chartreuse/silver cleo's on regular spinning gear. But you're right there just doesn't seem to be anymore "big dogs" to be caught....mainly in part of guys harvesting them like corn in the 90's (myself and my dad included)...it's amazing the things you learn about (C&R) when you start to grow up. Hopefully we can get it turned around and start seeing the big guys coming back. I miss trolling the Edison and hammering 3-6 17-20 pounders per morning
  16. No big deal. Tim Hortons is a plague on society and makes terrible coffee...
  17. I doubt you'd see many Croix's or Loomis' there...more like Ugly Stiks with the tips broke off and alot of rusted dare devils and 1/2 oz jigs LOL
  18. Honestly, I would have revived it, even with the possible threat of a run in with the CO. I'd have explained the situation to him and if he still insisted on fining me I would have just made a big scene. ...if he can't appreciate a guy trying to save such a beautiful fish than he can cram it...
  19. Well is anyone??? I've been out of the Chinny game for about 6-7 years and this is my first year back. Just got my Scotty Electrics, stereo, and part of my floor rigged into my boat and I've been hitting the Garden for the last 2 weeks every morning (5am-8am) for the most part. Has this rain and cold front pushed the salmon into an early spawn?
  20. A replica mount would have been MUCH cheaper in the long run Cute kid ya got there, congrat's!!
  21. Good point Spiel. For the last few years I have grown accustomed to not wearing a life jacket on the boat, this summer I've made it my personal goal to get in the habit of having the jacket and tether on whenever the boat is on plane. The tether is on my wrist at all time besides trolling, as my uncles friend almost went overboard on his tiller this year when he fell off his seat and the tiller bucked sideways on him as he was coming up on plane...no tether attached. The sled guys have got this tether thing down pat, why boaters don't is beyond me!
  22. Well look who snakes his way outta the wood work
