What he said. Although, I've been known to slum straight 6 lb flouro for April whitefish/steelhead through the ice. Tomorrow Splake are on the menu, 6lb Sensation Solar Orange mainline, 6 lb chameleon leader, changing it up only to say I did Hard to beat 15 pound braid with ________ leader.

Lucky buggers, may have to haul my gear up there and snatch some feesh of the walled eye persuasion through the ice...
-
God I love battle worn Steel. Fresh chromers dont do anything for me anymore...no character. Battle Worn, giving my best Solo Paddler smirk...also the day I cut my favorite rod (9' Lite/moderate Avid) in half *RIP Avid*

Pope I reckognize that lake I think *grin*. I too have been splake fishing for the last 2.5 weeks. 4" of ice 2 weeks ago, 5+ now. Heading out right now for the evening.

Really hope you don't think I'm actually stupid enough to think Fluoro is useless.... As a mainline, yes. Leader hell no, its a necessity...
-
Theres no reason why you cant upgrade a Legend Elite under the 50$ no questions asked warranty, along with the 10$ per year depreciation rule....
-
Dang you're one hell of a Laker taker. Flouro's junk, I knows it. It's expensive's all hell and don't work for to save your life.

Deer hunting is not for you. Maybe you should take up knitting, and knit yourself a somebody.

Yup the stuff is sub par IMO. I'll stick to 8lb PP on my spinning rods -
Do what Steelheaders do....estimate the depth, set your float that deep, cast it out, drag it back slow...if your bait doesnt get hung up on bottom then you arent on bottom yet!!! Keep lowering your float till you snag into bottom then lift it up accordingly

Sounds like you quit working at a fishing lodge recently as well...welcome to the club Was it the crap pay, the long hours or the terrible living conditions?
-
Me and CJGraham went out tonight, went 5 and 3 on the Steel. All of them were shakers caught on Cleo's or bouncing dew worms Like I told Chris as I stumbled and fumbled over the slimy rocks "Well atleast they fight better than Walleye"

Best rod series in the $100 +/- price point ?

I'd honestly wait for some nice used sticks to pop up on eBay or here, also go on walleye central.com and put a wanted ad in their classifieds, the dudes on there have top of the line gear and let it go cheap sometimes -
If you were to carry ANY 2-RODS/REELS...

6'6" croix legend elite medium fast with a Pflueger Supreme XT 2500 size and a 6'6" medium heavy fast croix avid with a 3000 size reel with some drag power to it -
All I run is 1 piece rods. First I put them in adjustable rod socks to keep them from scratching (5.99$ at cabelas) then I slide them into the vinyl/PVC rod cases. I've brought them into some nasty places including the lodge I'm working at right now and all is well with them

Navionics Canadian Lakes App for smart phone?
archie_james_c replied to Black_Blade's topic in General Discussion
I'm gonna download this for my iPhone right now. I'm working at Loch Island lodge on Wabatongushi....well see if it has any lakes around here -
Agreed, we're not fishing an FLW Lake Erie walleye tourny in a 22 foot Ranger, no need to be zipping along at 25mph in 2-3 footers. Slow down!
-
I have a 16 foot Holiday. Its a nice, wide stable boat, but it cuts waves like a piece of plywood and catches wind like a kite. Two disadvantages that REALLY kill a Walleye fisherman. My next boat will be a used Ranger 18 foot tiller or an Alumacraft, something built to handle choppy water and higher winds.

Clown, gold/black, blue/silver HJ 10 if you have a lighter action rod...but if you can get away with the big dogs then throw the HJ14's and reel em slow
-
Still want it? It's a custom 4-piece now... Over the last 2 years I haven't ran a rod that I was at home behind as this Avid . Thank god for the Croix warranty! Here was her last fight...a banged up Gladiator of a buck , fought like a Walleye on Heroin and was released to fight another day. My best attempt at the Solopaddler smirk

Pull worm harnesses with worms minnows or leeches at under 1 mph in the spring. Kicking the motor in and out of neutral works like a hot damn to...let the boat drift in neutral till your harness hits bottom then kick it in gear and wait for a strike! If you're getting short bites or not much action at all you should start lindy rigging or drifting jigs at a crawling speed!

Guys there's no point in you putting info on here about how bad the left is. Liberals and NDP'ers know they're right and no amount of "facts" of their parties scandals are going to change their opinions.
