  1. Sorry guys! I don't see an RV9 on their site, just IM series and MXG's. Is the RV's a discontinued model?
  2. Is there anywhere online to buy Rapala rods? Im having a hard time tracking them down.
  3. i checked out a Center Pin 13'6" Raven IM6 at the Trading post today...very stiff graphite for only claiming to be IM6. Where did you get your IM9 for 199$? The Trading post had the IM6 for 179$. I'm liking the idea of a Raven for floats and a seperate rod, maybe a rapala for bouncing...
  4. If by hardware you mean spoons or spinners, no. I can throw those with my Walleye rods if need be. I'm thinking I'll mainly be float fishing or bottom bouncing 3 way's.
  5. Well...I need a Steelhead/Rainbow rod, whatever the heck you wanna call those pretty things. I like to use quality rods for my favourite species, Walleye. I carry a few technique specific rods (light jig, vert. jig, rig, live bait etc), but Im looking for what is essentially the 6'6" Medium Fast action of the Steelhead realm, at a fair price (180-250$). I'm THINKING most of my limited steelheading will be float fishing and bottom bouncing (if anymore has anything to add then feel free). Rods I've been looking at are... Croix Avids, Loomis GL2/GL3, Fenwick HMX? I was thinking something in the 9'-10'6" length and 5/8 to 3/4 OZ maximum lure weight. Am I on the right track? Anyone have any suggestions?
  6. If I'm not mistaken, wasnt the LSS made to be used in conjunction with conventional sonar? With my limited expreience using other HDS's and LSS last season I found that they work together. Some things the LSS (DSI) missed the traditional sonar shows. Or they both show it but one or the other helps clarify the object being marked, etc....?
  7. Hahahh good point Billy and everyone...heres the boat and motor... Princecraft Holiday 16 foot 50 hp Honda Tiller EFI
  8. First day I bought my very first "high end" rod (Croix 7' Legend Tourn. Walleye), threw my Abu Cardinal on it because it was all I had. I needed line that day, Im a die hard braided line guy but was too cheap to buy a 20$ spool because "that junk reel was coming off and a new Tierra was going on" the next payday anyways... I lost 3 fish because of the crappy hook sets Trilene EXTRA LAME (XL) provides. Was like fishing with a bungee cord. Lesson learned.
  9. My next boat will be an Alumacraft Navigator 165 or 175. Their rod storage, bait/livewells and ergo's seem to be built FOR fisherman BY fisherman...unlike everyone elses.
  10. Go with an HDS 5. I know it's not one of your picks but look at it this way... Colour 5" screen Amazing standard sonar Great GPS with half decent preloaded maps Abilty to add structure scan later Ability to add more HDS's later!
  11. Yah that walleye rod hasnt been buckled over that much since the last big Pike that hit it I may need to buy a steelhead rod.... Anyone?
  12. Thats what I figured Irish. I put it down and drain it after every outing. I just wanted to make sure there wasnt any quircky little things im over looking
  13. I've got my boat out of storage and plan on firing her up to fish Lake Superior this month and next for Lakers, bows, browns, etc. Is there any thing I need to know regarding my water pump icing up or anything? The last thing I want is to crack the block on my 2010 Honda...
  14. Hit up the local fast water today, tossing cleos around 5:30 tonight. Nailed this beautiful gal on a rainbow 2/5 Oz. Cleo. She was my first bow ever and went back in the drink to make some babies . Someone should have told her I was using a WALLEYE rod...
  15. Was just on Bass...not a damn bite...no fish in that lake *snickers*

  16. Get your ass in gear ya pencil pusher, almost time to take the boats out!

  17. Woohoo good job wiser! I'm looking to maybe get out of my Daiwas on my Croix Legend Walleye rods, and the Patriarch is light, shiny AND matching blue
  18. Amen to that Bob...Liberals are slowly trying to make hunters feel ashamed of being hunters.
  19. Kill em all...no mercy for the yote's. Bounties dont work? Go on Canadian Gun Nutz and ask the guys out West if bounties don't work
  20. Strap it to a 6'9" med lite legend extreme or 6'8" med extra fast and grin ear to ear each time you set the hook...
  21. Heres my winter buildup. Alot of the crankbaits in the pic I had last year. I gotta get my a$$ in gear and build more crawler harnesses..im only down to 10 or so
  22. To say that one cheap spinning rod does everything but you *need* to have good and various casting setups is kinda foolish. Inexpensive Med-Lite rods are not "sensitive" they are noodly. "Sensitivity" in a rod equates to stiffness, and how much info off of your line/bait can be telegraphed through the rod into your hand. I'm not saying casting rigs are a waste of money either...if you use alot of casting specific techniques then buy the best gear you can afford. But to suggest spinning gear as a whole is unimportant is kind of foolish.
  23. A 7 foot, medium power, fast action St.Croix Legend Tournament Bass series rod- 220$ Daiwa Tierra 2500 reel- 149$ ish OR for the Loomis guys... Loomis IMX Spin/Jig series 7 foot, medium power, fact action- 290$ (SJR844S) Pflueger Supreme XT (that new magnesium bodied one)- 149$ Thats what I look at or some variation of those if I wanted one, super nice, multi-purpose rod/reel.
