  1. Cool Glad to see the float suit on...
  2. got this off the net... this is basically the recipe i use... Easy Eggnog Recipe Ingredients 6 eggs 3 cups milk 8 tablespoons sugar 3 teaspoon vanilla essence 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, ground Easy Eggnog Recipe Directions In a large bowl, beat the eggs using an electric beater (if available). By turn, add milk & sugar. Continue beating until mixture thickens slightly. Add in the vanilla essence & ground nutmeg. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until chilled (at least 3 hours). Serves: 8. or Traditional Eggnog Ingredients 12 eggs, separated 6 cups milk 2 cups heavy/ thickened cream 2 cups bourbon 1+ 1/2 cups sugar 3/4 cup brandy 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg Traditional Eggnog Directions In a large bowl and using a mixer, beat the egg yolks together with the sugar for approx 10 minutes (you want the mixture to be firm and the colour of butter). Very slowly, add in the bourbon and brandy - just a little at a time. When bourbon and brandy have been added, allow the mixture to cool in the fridge (for up to 6 hours, depending on how long before your party you're making the eggnog). 30 minutes before your guests arrive, stir the milk into the chilled yolk mixture. Stir in 1+ 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg. In a separate bowl, beat the cream with a mixer on high speed until the cream forms stiff peaks. In yet another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk mixture. Gently fold the cream into the egg mixture. After ladling into cups, garnish with the remainder of the ground nutmeg. Serves: 8. or Alcoholic Eggnog Ingredients 6 eggs 2 extra egg yolks 4 cups whole milk 3/4 cup heavy cream 1/2 cup plus 2 Tablespoons of sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg 1 cup bourbon Alcoholic Eggnog Directions Start by whisking the eggs, egg yolks, sugar, and salt in a large pan until well-blended. Keep on whisking while you slowly pour in the milk until it is completely mixed-in. Next, set the pan on your stove's burner and turn it to the lowest possible setting. Continuously whisk ingredients for 25-30 minutes or until the mixture reaches 160°F and will coat the underside of a spoon. Next, remove the mixture from heat and strain it into a large-sized bowl, making sure to get out any pieces of cooked egg. Now stir in the bourbon, vanilla, and nutmeg, and transfer your mixture to a covered dish. Refrigerate the mix for at least 4 hours before proceeding. Finally, when you're ready to serve your eggnog with alcohol, grab the heavy cream and whip it well. Now just fold in the chilled mix, pour, serve and enjoy! Makes 14 servings.
  3. Well... I'm not allowed to fish for 48 hours.... Might as well get pinned...lol
  4. We make home made egg nog... Just never added booze... Yet... This site just taught me another good thing... Lol
  5. What kinda booze do some mix in egg nog? Rum?
  6. Just think about the fish your gunna get next year with that boat... And the knowledge you've absorbed from this site and multiple guides... Your gunna be a musky weapon...
  7. That's a California model... Some states have different rules I guess...
  8. i guess im lucky... water levels never change here because of the dams and the ships... they have to maintain enough depth for the ships so the dams keep the water level pretty much the same all year.... if the water level changes a foot... thats a huge change here... however the section of river upstream thats connected to lake O gets hit pretty hard with water fluctuation... 3-4 foot drop throughout the season... messes up the ice too sometimes... we get ice then the water drops a couple more feet and the shoreline breaks apart...
  9. Last couple years I've got my boat in the water mid march... If that's the case this year I might only get about 2 months of fishable ice... And I'm ok with that...
  10. So why not "winterize" the boat once the ice forms?
  11. I was gearing this one to the folks of Ontario...lol BTW... Where ate the reports? That's the exact reason why I don't winterize my boat... Doesn't make much sense when we only get ice for 3 months...at the most...
  12. Looks like I'll be in my boat well into january... 2 week forecast has mild weather... I'm loving this.. Anybody else still putting the boots to the fish on the open water...? Might get in another trip to quinte at this rate...
  13. i started using a wind-lass tip up as my "dead stick" it harnesses the wind and jigs your line for you... this really helps with dead bait... you can even put a light spoon on (thin metal) during heavy winds and ill will really bounce...
  14. Where are the walleye walleye_man? Nice year
  15. Maybe... But it was 20 years old and I used it for 5 years without putting a penny into repairs...and sold it for double what I paid... And when I sold it it was running as good as when I bought it...
  16. Every day driving... Tow my boat 3 times a week... Some highway... Some in town... I've crunched the numbers based on how many km I get per fill up... I usually end up around 16L/100km But my fx4 has a 5.4 and is the heaviest f150 line up due to the skid plates... My truck weighs 2700kg
  17. That's about the same as my f150 FX4 I get 14-15 mpg all around
  18. Need or want...? I haven't seen a situation yet where artificails/lures/dead bait can't keep up with live bait... You just have to put in time with different presentations... And work your lure... No more dead sticking...
  19. I noticed a HUGE performance gain when I ran supreme in my 9.9 2 stroke... Faster top end... Smoother idle... And as mentioned... It's not like an auger burns 10 gallons a day... I'd spend the extra $$ Set up a spare 5 gallon tank in your shed with the correct oil to supreme gas ratio and put some stabilizer in... Then your set for the year...
  20. Pickup trucks are getting cheap... Dad just got a ram 1500 crew cab brand new for 20,000
