What about a PVC/ABS pipe cap... Not sure how much they cost but I'm sure you could find one somewhere... Then drill a couple holes for a bungee and water drain... ...

I have a friend that is thinking about stepping do from an 18 foot alumacraft console... To a 16 foot tiller... Better boat control... Cheap on fuel... Easy to tow... I agree with spouph Unless your gunna hit the great lakes and simcoe... Then the size is nice

Went to my local CT store today looking for an ice chisel for fishing... Due to the weather this year I have my doubts about ice quality... I checked the website and it said they had one in stock... So I get there... Do a couple laps around the ice fishing gear and find nothing... I asked the fella working where they were... He checked... Nothing... Then he checked the back... Found 2... But they were only about 24-30 inches long... This wasn't what I was hoping to find... So I said thanks anyways... So I'm rummaging through the lindy darters and I hear " exude me sir" Heres the guy that tried to help me earlier... He asked me to describe the item better to him... So I did... He says "stay here I'll be right back" Couple minutes later he comes back with exactly what I was looking for... A 4 foot spud... He said they stopped selling them a couple years back but this one has been lying around since then... It was also obvious that another employee used the spud for spray paint practice... Anyways... I didn't mind the spray paint so he tagged it at the same price as the 24-30 inch model... $30 So in the end because of this ambitious fella I got a 50-100 dollar chisel for 30... Sometimes things just go your way... Felt great... So thanks CT employee... Mike

I can imagine... It is a great job to have... I wish I could trade places with my girlfriend tho... Due to our situation I had to take the stay at home job... And she had to go back to work... Almost immediately... But I was able to fish an awful lot... : )

Im lucky... I just cross the border and hit the Mohawk reservation... 92 cents a liter last time over... 1.20 here... My truck takes 130 liters And another 25 liters in the spare So 155 liters saving 28 cents a liter is 43 dollars I save... Per trip... Minus 4 dollars bridge toll... 39 dollars saved for a round trip That takes 30-45 minutes...

Go used and you can buy anything your heart desires... Especially if you have a year to wait... Lots of time to find a deal... You can get a sweet ranger used for that price... Or top of the line aluminium used... And used doesn't have to be 10 years old... My dad and brother bought a 20 foot ranger tiller with a 115 four stroke tiller for 21,000. It was only 3 years old...like 100 hours on the motor... This is like a 50,000 dollar boat new...

not always true... my friends own a tackle shop and their mark up is around 40% ive seen their wholesale catalogs with prices... and their prices are comparable to most other places to purchase tackle...

to each their own... ive done the math... my way works for me and saves space/weight in the ice shack...

I think the better... Or should I say easier way to save us all money... Is to post store sales on the forum... Lots of us saved a bundle on cabelas guidewear last year... Also educating other members to cost cutting practices we have discovered for ourselves... Example... Propane (1lb tanks)... You can get a fitting to refill your 1lb tanks at home... It will cost you less then $1 to refill your tank...

it is fun getting fish as fast as you can get your line down... and i would never complain about that... im just looking to get some extra jumbos... i guess i should have worded it better... these "nice" perch i speak of are about 10-12 to the pound of fillets... im used to 7-8 to the pound during softwater... 5-6 on great days... in 100 perch i might get 1 or 2 that are the size i would like to keep... i kept the smaller ones cause im itchin to eat some perch... and so is the rest of my family...

Hmmm I said I'm able to take fish whenever I like... I never said I keep fish every day... If you only fish a couple days a year why not do it on free fishing times... Then you can keep your 27 bucks...

Really... I spend more money on a single musky lure... And a typical day costs me 20 bucks on gas... So 27 bucks to catch 1002 walleye... 44 musky... And countless carp ... Bass... Pike... Sunfish... Crappie...And perch... In a year... Hundreds of hours of entertainment... And fresh fish on my table for my family whenever I want... I'd say that's a damn good price if you ask me... The new system is a bit hairy... But I haven't heard of any fines for not having a license yet... We are lucky to have what we do... Quit complaining about it...

i understand what your sayin about schooling fish being the same size... but like i said... i can see the big perch mixed in with the little ones down the hole... the only affective technique ive found is staying hunched over the hole all day...looking into my hole... pulling my bait away from little ones and allowing the bigguns time to attack it.... but as a lot of you probably know... this doesnt feel to good on the back... im also limited as far as moving around and finding other schools of fish or other areas to fish... the st.lawrence river doesnt get a lot of safe ice... so in MOST situations i have to work threw 100+ dinks to get 5-10 nice perch to take home...

Hey I was wondering what presentations/baits everyone likes when trying to ice big perch... More specifically... When getting perch as fast as you can drop your line... But only 1/20 is decent...What do you guys do to up your average size of perch... Or should I say trigger the big ones and deter the little ones... I like the smaller sizes of jigging rapalas... And some various small spoons... But even then it was still steady dinks... And I could see bigger perch down the hole... I'm hoping you simcoe anglers chime in here... You guys know big perch... Nice Walters... I picked up a couple darters the other day to try out this year... I'm just worried they are too light to fish in the st.lawrence current and keep bottom contact...

Yeah zack was pumped to get his first like of the season... And so was I... The first one almost spooled the tip up and the second one hit so hard it tangled the line around the spool... Then almost pulled the tip up through the hole...

Got out for the first time this weekend for a couple short days (4 hours each day) on the ice... Got to fish Friday Saturday Sunday and today... We iced at least 400 perch... Most small but entertaining... But we managed a healthy bunch each trip to take home... Also got a couple bluegill... 2 largemouth... And these pike on the tip-up today... The first pike damn near spooled us before we saw the flag was up... We had 5-6 inches of ice everywhere we fished... And cold weather coming this week will freeze up a couple more spots to try...

I run 2 in series (12v) so I have high power for a longer period... But if you run in parallel (24v) I imagine you'll burn your motor...
