Like I said when this thread originally started; the Leafs will be fine. The organization is going in the right direction... Mtl on the other hand, is sticking with Gainey (for now) - a once great hockey player, but a lousy manager as evidenced by his team's play since he started there.. they are the most arrogant fans and they're getting what they deserved! Winter camping is actually becoming a very popular activity! Guys, you gotta expnad your horizons a bit.. fishing isn't the only activity out there! The yurts are heated portable shelters.. Winter camping is no less "crazy" than sitting of a hole in the ice.. in fact, you're moving around a lot more... snowshoeing, x-country skiing, etc.. the yurts are set at ambient temp... propane heated

Hey folks, Has anyone here winter camped in Algonquin (or anywhere else for that matter). I am hoping to take a large group (25-30) up there in late February. What's it like? Is it good value? You can't cook in the yurt so is there a cooking area or fire pit? Any info is greatly appreciated.. thanks

Coyote numbers were low a few years back (mange I think). Were rabbit populations in general higher then? Just curious...

The gun is amazing. One of the other guys had a Rem. Sorry bud, I'll take mine any day... The Super Nova's are equipped with a recoil reducer apparently... I have the Nova and it otherwise felt great! The pump is extremely smooth compared to the other guns I shot yesterday and in the past. Nice weight to it and it feels so solid...

We ended up going to Cookstown... near the outlet plaza... Turns out a relative has permission to hunt/shot on privte property... MY SHOULDER IS SORE!!! Man those 3.5" shells hurt!!!! what a blast I had today!!! I love my Benelli

I have several relatives that hunt. I have fired off guns before. Nevertheless, I am a total newbie and have not shot anything yet. I might consider the Scarboro gun club that someone suggested here... As I said earlier I just want to get a feel for the gun while it's being fired... Thanks guys... I appreciate all your input!!

what about the Ganaraska Forest? I believe there's hunting allowed there...

There's a lot of private land between here and Barrie.. public land is a premium around here..

And I'm very excited about trying it out... So, my question is, where can I go to just simple fire it? I bought a bunch of different shells and I'd like to get a feel for the gun.. A relative hunts out near Port Hope and we've fired off shells there for fun in the past but I was hoping to try somewhere closer to my neck of the woods... I am near Bass Pro (Vaughan). I'd like to stay within a 100km radius if I'm just going to shoot off some rounds... How about the Simcoe Forest? York Region Forest? Any crown land or public lands in general that allow discharge of firearms. I checked the regs but its hard to find any specific spot. The WMU's are just big zones... doesn't tell you where to shoot specifically. Thanks very much! SF
