  1. hey folks, What are you opinions on the Benelli Nova pump actions? I am still looking for a gun and my brother-in-law said I should check them out... apparently real fine gun. I am looking to target multi species including deer, turkey, waterfowl and upland game.. will this gun do the trick? It's well priced at Cabelas: https://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pageID=71&...1727&ID=289 Thanks for any input!
  2. That's what I thought...
  3. Ya, I tried that route... couldn't find anything that said either way...
  4. Hey folks, Just curious; did Starcraft manufacture welded aluminum boats back in the 1970's? Thanks, SF
  5. I jst did my course last week... now the bloody wait for PAL... Why does it take nearly 3 months? Criminals don't wait but law-abiding citizens have to wait... oh the irony..
  6. There is significant natural reproduction occurring now with Pacific Salmon... much to the chagrin of the OMNR biologists..

  8. I can't believe they waste money and time on such stupid stuff..
  9. You cannot hunt with a rifle in the "south"... most of my hunting will be south of the French and probably mostly south of Muskoka.. So as I understand it, I can accompany any hunt right now but I cannot be in possession of a firearm of my own, even if it has been lent to me... So bows are good to go.. great cause my cousin has a bow. I can use that while he uses his shotgun. I am going on a duck hunt at Long Point this weekend. I will need my duck stamp and I will bring my temp licence with me... Looking forward to it! As for the gun, I will put it off for now. My dad has an old CIL hinge action. Probably not a good gun, but it'll do the trick until I determine what I want and need... I'll probably buy in Dec or Jan when I have my PAL. Thanks guys!
  10. I completed the course t Flarhety's... it was pretty good, actually. I didn't find it boring at all.. Anyhow, now the wait. Can I start the PAL process now? I'll let you know how I make out!
  11. Those last couple are some dandy co's
  12. He's 41 and hasn't played professional hockey in 6 years... It's a young man's sport good luck to Theo in his future endeavors
  13. coulda shoulda! As long as I can go hunting with them... i can use their guns and they buy ammo, etc.. I guess you can only apply for PAL once you've taken the course? where did you do the course? Does PAL cost anything? thanks guys for the input! looks like it'll be the Remington!
  14. Hi folks, I am planning on taking up hunting this fall! I've have family members who've been encouraging tojoin them on their hunting forays! I was wondering if anyone has taken the hunter safety/traing course at AL Flaherty's? They have course running the last weekend of Sept. If it's not available, can someone recommend another course in the western part of the GTA? Maybe BassPro? If I take the course in late Sept, will I get my PAL by November in time to hunt deer? IS there anything else required in addition to the hunter safety course and the PAL license? My cousin has a shotgun for me and I think I will just use his to see if I actually enjoy hunting before I go out and buy a gun. But if I did decide to buy one, what would you recommend as a decent starter gun for $500 (+/-)? Thanks guys!
  15. Gorgeous... You gotta love that Mediterranean landscape... I spend a fair amount of time in Italy and it reminded me of that! Great pics...
  16. There are lots of wild chinnies in the lake... they've adapted very well to lake Ontario and from what I;ve heard they can be distinguished from stocked fish via scale samples..and now that the adipose is clipped it ill be even easier...
  17. Brother Schenn if I had it my way.... Gustavsson is almost signed as far as I heard....
  18. Given that sturgeon are pretty rare and unique, I'd say you caught a dandy... in fact, given the choice, I'd take a sturgeon over a musky just out of sheer curiosity...
  19. Thanks guys... good point about load.. but how much does a 12 tin weigh? isn't less than 200lb? As for the 2X4 should I place them alongside the current crossbars? how do they stay in place? I see people with those 12' tins with pretty small vehicles... thanks again
  20. Hey folks, My roofrack is only 42 inches across (nissan X-trail) but I want to try to fit a 12' boat on my car that is around 50"+ at its widest point. Any recommendations on how I can fit it on there? Thanks guys in advance..
  21. Near Ontario Place for BIG pike... Ashbridges Bay, Bluffers Park, Humber Bay, Rouge River mouth...and so on Pike, bass, panfish, trout, salmon can be had in all those locales... maybe even a walleye if yo're really LUCKY!!
  22. How's the crappy weather affecting your fishing? I'm assuming that weed growth and fish location is off this year and behind a few weeks... I wonder if the bass are behind their romping schedule... Almost July and it's raining and 60F right now... I was hoping for warm sunny weather for my camping trip.. but i better bring my early season gear... Global warming, eh? this is last year all over again...
  23. Isn't Loon Lake a musky lake? It's off 121 if i'm not mistaken... walleye and lakers too, if you're interested in those species..
  24. thanks... i'd imagine that i will inadvertently hook into spawning smallies at those narrows... looks rocky from the pics.. guess it'd be hard to avoid that i will post a report and hopefully a pic of a fish or two!!
  25. Hey folks, I will be up there this weekend camping for two nights. I will have a canoe. I hear the narrows are pretty good in the early morn and eve. We will be camping at the main Mazinaw campground (Sawmill). I don't plan on doing any hardcore fishing but I figure I'll squeeze in 5-7 hours in the AM and maybe a bit of PM too. Should I concentrate on those narrows, which are conveniently close to where we're camping? Is the another location to key in on? It's such a big lake (especially in a canoe).. I should mention that I will focus on walleye and pike... maybe lakers too as I do have the gear to troll with.. Thanks very much in advance!
