  1. Wow. That's a long sentence.
  2. Bring lots of countdown Rapalas. That's all you really need. Size 3, 5 and 7, depending on what size of fish that you are expecting. They can be trolled or casted, fished shallow or deep, and they do catch Brook Trout. Trust me. Gold and orange is a favorite of mine.
  3. On a related topic, I heard on the radio today that Toronto home owners have become very efficient at conserving power. The new "smart meters" are working better than expected. So much better, in fact, that the revenues for Toronto Hydro are down so much that they have to jack up the rates to bring the revenues back up. Go figure...
  4. Although I'm not licensed anymore for gas fitting, I have that ability to do the job myself. But I wouldn't change my bbq to natural gas. The savings are minimal at best and you lose the portability of your grill. Buy a second tank and have it filled and ready for when you run out.
  5. Thanks a bunch for the input guys. There's a whole lot to consider and I'll take all of your advice when it comes time to buy. I may be going on strike on May 1st., but barring that I'm good to go.
  6. Thanks guys. I'll take your advice and keep looking. camillj, you can't have my boat, but the Specks aren't out of the question. You know where I live. Drop by for a visit some time.
  7. I caught a bunch of Pike once with raw strips of bacon. On one May long weekend, we had quick strike rigs set up with smelts as bait. Caught tons with the smelts but when we ran out, we switched to the bacon. We caught just as many with the bacon, although we were hungry the next morning.
  8. I'm looking to buy a high end GPS soon. I'm looking for a handhelp with mapping capabilities. I've done my homework on line, but mostly from the manufacturers web sites. So I'm looking for some unbiased opinions here. Garmin and Magellan seem to be the most popular brands. Specifically I'm want to know about mapping software. What do you guys have? What should I be looking for? Money is no object. Seriously, whats the best bang for my buck??
  9. People come and go from here. It's been that way for a long time and I suspect it will never change. There's always some positive new members joining that keep me encouraged. It's the process of evolution I suppose. There's a bunch of us that have been here forever. And I doubt that any of us/them will ever leave. It's a good thing, OFC. I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. Home is where the heart is, as the saying goes.
  10. LOL Rattletrap2... Believe it or not, I planned this around the May long weekend. If I was scheduled for triple bypass that weekend, I would have changed the date. I like your way of thinking...
  11. I always liked this shot.
  12. Dang CC. I found this the other day and I've been waiting to use it for one of your posts, but it looks like I won't get the chance. Don't make me dig this out in the future...
  13. I'll stick with "Deal, or no Deal". But thanks for the heads up Gerritt.
  14. Colon cancer is one of the easiest cancers to cure, yet one of the most difficult to detect. I made my appointment with my family doctor nearly a year ago. That's how long it took to see a specialist. Don't be shy guys. You gotta do what you gotta do.
  15. May 29th I'm having the big look see. Can't wait.
  16. 3000 posts? I didn't think that Glen knew 3000 words. All kidding aside, congrats Bud. Looking forward to the next 3000.
  17. Gotta watch out for those boat launch lizards.
  18. Awesome report, photos and attitude Basskicker. And happy birthday...
  19. Nobody has said why one reel is any better than the other. And that's my point. Reels have come so far that it is difficult to choose these days. I needed a cheap spare reel last summer for a friend to use so I picked up a $39.00 shimano at Walmart. It's an awesome reel. Don't get me wrong. I use much more expensive reels. I'm not sure why after trying out the Walmart reel. Personally I use Cabelas spinning reels exclusively. I like the price. I like the quality. And I like the Cabelas guarantee. I'll be ordering a Cabelas Prodigy soon. Check it out.
  20. We'll see how fast he can climb that fence tomorrow Joe.
  21. And I love it Joey. I'm flattered that my picks make front page news.
  22. OOOooooooooooooo..... that's low. But I like it. It's only race four out of 36. It's gonna be a long season. Plenty of time for cheap shots. By the way. Why are you so sure that I have Smoke tomorrow???
  23. Well. When it comes to pools and betting, I pick who I think will win. Not who I'm a fan of. Maybe that's why I'm in first???? Do you really think that I'm a fan of this guy??
  24. There's nothing like an October sunset in Northwestern Ontario Connie. Awesome photos Bud. Just you and your dog. I can relate to that.
  25. Beauty pics Phil. Thanks for sharing.
