  1. I've got a lot of bad habits in life, but exposing myself to the sun isn't one of them. Being fair skinned and red headed, I can get a nasty burn in about 10 minutes. I always wear long sleeved shirts, full legged pants, socks and shoes and even a hood if the sun is really bad. I even used to wear gloves before sunscreen came along. I'd rather sweat than burn, and I can't stand putting any kind of lotion on myself. I'd rather burn to death than slather any type of lotion on me. Weird, huh? But it works for me.
  2. Thanks JPD and tjsa. And I thought that this was such a simple job. Damn good thing that I didn't blow up my GPS. I paid about $500.00 for it and it's only about a month old.
  3. OK Thanks Terry. Good advice. I'll find a proper ground. Actually there's a ground block just out of reach of my ground wire so I'll extend it and ground it there. Also, I'll pm you shortly about that little deal that we have discussed.
  4. OK. Thanks guys. The boat is all covered up and I don't feel like looking at it now. Maybe tomorrow. I'll report back if this fixes it. Also, I did ground it right to a bolt on the console Terry. Why is this not a good idea?
  5. It's a power outlet then Gerritt. It's quite deep. I bought it at CTC.
  6. Yesterday, I attempted to wire a cigarette lighter plug in on my boat so that I can plug in my GPS or cell phone while fishing. With a tester, I found a good ground and then tied the power end into the line that feeds my fish finder. I won't be using it for lighting cigars and such, so the current draw will be minimal. So I got it all wired up, plugged in my GPS adapter and noticed that the red power indicator light on the adapter didn't light up. I tried plugging in the GPS and of course, had no power. So next I tried my cell phone adapter. Same thing. No red light and no power. I tested the socket of the plug in with my tester and it showed power. It is one of those testers that lights up when a circuit is complete, which it did. I didn't have a volt meter to tell me how much power was there. I got a little frustrated and left it as is. I'd get back to it later. This morning I took my cell phone and adapter to my truck and was going to top up the charge on my way to work. No red light and no power to the phone. I tried my cigarette lighter and it worked fine. So again there was power at the plug in. Now I started to worry. I thought that some how I might have fried both my cell phone and my GPS adapters. Later in the day I was fiddling around with my cell phone adapter and discovered that the end screws off and there is a glass fuse inside, which was blown. I came home to discover the same thing has happened to my GPS adapter. An easy fix, but why did the fuses blow? The only thing that I can think of is that I had reversed the polarity on my wiring. Hooked up the ground to the power and the power to the ground. Could this be the problem? Would this cause both fuses to blow? The cigarette plug in had a gray wire and a white wire. I hooked up the gray to the ground and the white to the power. Help guys...
  7. If you buy the cd, it automatically installs itself in MapSource. I have the entire province loaded on my Garmin on a 1 gig card. Nice, nice maps wherever you travel in the province.
  8. Leave the live/organic bait at home please. You don't need it. Live/organic bait only increases the possibility of deep hooking the fish. I can't estimate how many Brookies I've caught in the past 20 years and not one time have I used live bait.
  9. Perfect!!!
  10. Start out with A Rapala countdown cd3. If you don't catch anything in an hour or two, pack up and head home.
  11. Excellent idea Terry. That's how I got my maps.
  12. Doug. The GPS Quebec maps that I have show tons more than topo Canada. I have both. Beaver dams, rocks in lakes and rivers, rapids, swamps, treed and cleared areas, trails that have been there forever... I can go on and on. I posted a link to it in my first thread, but it doesn't show the Ontario maps anymore . Shame. From what I've heard the Ontario Government (MNR) uses these maps. If you want a screen shot of a specific area, let me know. I'll see what I can do.
  13. They keep getting better with each painting Pam. Incredible.
  14. Nice report and great photos Bud...
  15. Woo Hoo!!! Atta boy Phil. Awesome report, awesome pictures and an awesome Pike. Glad you had a great time Bud..
  16. Just got a Ram suction cup mount for my 60CSx in the mail today from GPS City. Now I can have it securely mounted in the boat or in the truck.
  17. I also have the Garmin 60 CSx. I've only had it for about a month or so and I'm really enjoying it. I have the entire province loaded on a one gig card from these guys. GPS Quebec Their maps are much better than Garmin topo Canada.
  18. Nice report Taper. Thanks for sharing.
  19. I at a loss for words here Lew. How can life be so unfair, is what I'm thinking right now. I've always enjoyed Eddy's posts, especially the ones where you and him took a few jabs at each other. I don't have a brother, but to me the definition of brotherly love was spelled out in your posts. The tribute that you paid to Eddy was inspiring, to say the least. I'm sure that he was very, very proud of you. My deepest sympathies to you and your family Lew.
  20. Beauty report(s) guys. And some awesome photos too!! Thanks for sharing.
  21. Which reminds me of another story. A few years ago I was going away for a few days so I told Sis to take my truck in for an oil change. I warned her that the oil change places are notorious for trying to sell you other things such as air filters, light bulbs etc. I told her to not let that happen. Just get an oil change only!!! So she goes there. Tells the guy that she wants an oil change. The guy says ok. Oil and filter change only. She says no filter. Just an oil change. The guy says what? Surely you want a new filter. She gets into an argument with the guy and finally leaves without getting the oil change. Gawd I love her. But she's gonna kill me if she sees this tomorrow.
  22. Africa??? HAH!!! Yeah right. That's the gang at Lakair last June fighting over the last Old Milwackee!!!!
