Some Fact Finding Analysis on Salmon Fishing
Twocoda replied to bassfighter's topic in General Discussion
Nice report...the one to two days after a rain fall is traditionally rule of thumb for best pier fishing although it has sometimes been questioned due to other variables such as upstream mechanical alterations eg. a dam being opened up to feed the river in aiding fish for a big push upstream which will ultimately shut down the mouth of the river and make for a fish frenzy further up...I find when a river crests and starts to go down is when things get really active regardless of the location on the river...Thanks for sharing your thoughts... Cheers -
Congrates!!! to both of you...happiness is almost always fishing related...now put that thing away and get some upgrades Cappy

yep and thanks for the compliments...all i did was snap the photos...fish did the rest Cheers

not the best picture but it was rather difficult to locate where this fish was going to jump next and try to stay in focus

Just my luck i missed the maiden voyage so no pics..but i can get some from its second journey when the weather clears The glass on the bottom is 3/8 inch lexan and has no leaks...although he did have 3 tiny leaks elsewhere they have since been located and corrected...Bob has built this boat many times without the windows in the bottom (he calls them a "Strong Back Boat"...some are used regularly on the River but some end up in museums for display purposes and never see a drop of water after their initial maiden voyages...they are rated (by him ) for 3 adults (so roughly 600 pounds) and can accommadate maximum 6 HP on the back...Bob is one of the key members of the Propeller Club that is responsible for the restoration of the Chantry Island Restoration Projects and is responsible for the rebuilding of the "Hunter" Replica (lost merchant ship that was discovered buried in the beach sand in Southampton) that is on display in the Grey Bruce Museum..This project with the glass bottom was a shot in the dark for him with uncertainty but being a high school shop teacher in London for his career...he has a tenancy to over think things and due diligence in safety..The first trip was out to Chantry Island without a concern of sharing the "Hunters" fate.. His method of finding the leaks was to fill the boat with water on the trailer while sitting in the laneway..one was at the transom and two were on the port side at the bumper guard... This boat isnt intended on speed but just leisurely cruising with a different perception of looking out the window...I too think the window frame cross members would be a hindrance to getting it on plane...but i doubt 6 HP would have enough pep to even consider the possibility of such a task Thanks for the kind words and concerns..ill make sure Bob gets to read this thread Cheers

Although my uncle in law (Bob) loves to build boats in his spare time ..this one is a first for him in his 89 years on the planet...now i have to convince him to put the plans on paper so i can build one...Snoopy doesnt only fly planes... I would think "Bobs your uncle" when it comes to this lil jem

The only person fishing is the driver...the rest of the people on the boat are just waiting to reel in your hook ups...sounds like a good year...cheers!

those BIG fish you speak of ...keep the tourism dollars pumping into the local areas...we have a great fishery in my back yard but found ourselves down fishing Scabbies for some monstorous fun...mission accomplished and between the 4 of us about 1300 bucks lighter for a two day stay...maybe you should consider having the hotels and restaurants anti up a match to what the charter boys put in...

the longer the lock out ...the longer Toronto will stayed tied for first place...Gizmo looks happy B...regardless of the Jersy he wears
-
Happiness is easy to apologize for rather than ask for permission
-
Look at Spiels avatar...he is fishing above the reel... you can move your hand under the reel and use your thumb to control the flow of the reel like this
-
B try fishing under your reel as opposed to over it and use your thumb to control it...this might mean youll have to move your reel up the cork for balance though...If you have a fixed seat youll just have to get used to the "new" feel of the rod

Dave and Matt are out fishing on the deck. Matt takes out a cigarette and asks Dave for a light. Dave reaches into his tackle box and pulls out a lighter 11 inches long. Matt looks at it and asks, “Where did you get this?” Dave: I got it from my genie. Matt: You have a genie? Dave: Yup! He’s in the tackle box. Matt: Let’s see. Dave opens the box and calls out the genie. Instantly he appears. Matt is amazed and instantly says to the genie. “Genie grant ME a wish. Genie: Sure! What shall it be? Matt: I want a million bucks! Genie: So it shall be! The genie disappears into the tackle box. A couple of minutes later the sky grows dark and the loud thunder of quacking can be heard overhead. Disappointed Matt turns to Dave and says, “What gives? I asked for a million BUCKS not a million DUCKS!” Dave: Oh I forgot to tell you that the genie has a hearing problem! Do you really think I asked for an 11 inch BIC???
