  1. All I know is you can hear an Argo with tracks coming from miles away! Every winter we head out to my buddies hunting camp for an ice fishing weekend. Pretty secluded and quiet area. The last year we were out, some dude came out of the forest onto the lake in one of those - for a minute, i thought we were being invaded by the germans!
  2. better then nothing if you ask me. i can barely stand to be in a car with friends who smoke. a couple more "minutes" a day of smokeless-air for a child could only be good...or at least better...
  3. sweet! wish my desk was that clean
  4. cool kinda funny about the photoshop work though...i'm sure you gave them the right to do whatever they wanted when you submitted the photo, but maybe double check the fine print of the submission guidelines to be sure...if you really care anyways... fun to see yourself in print huh? p.s. nice fish!
  5. portion sizes in the US are just crazy. everything in moderation i'll stick to nonna's homemade pasta...mmm...
  6. It was fun while it last, eh Brian! Enjoyed reading all your tourney reports. P.S. - YOU CAN'T HAVE HER BACK!!!
  7. beautiful Terry As first time father of a 6-month old son, i can't even imagine...
  8. murphy's law...you get 'em when you're not expecting too!!!
  9. Here's a better solution... http://canada.aol.com/summerguide/article....makeahomemadeac
  10. I was at BPS last night to pick up a new fishfinder. The selection/stock is pretty slim from what the guy told me. I had a quick look at the bottomline stuff they had, but it didn't look like they had any available. Worth a call before you make the trip. Oh, and good thing BPS price-matches - after I bought my Humminbird, i found out that LeBaron has it for $30 less! Now i just have to go back to BPS to get the difference back - saves me from making a trip to both stores.
  11. I've got two fishfinders in my 14' right now - one in the front, and one in the back. The older of the two (in the back) doesn't want to power on anymore, so i'm looking to replace it. Don't have a big budget for this unfortunately - maybe $200 or so to spend. It'll probably stay with the boat should i decide to upgrade next year. It's a Humminbird, and I'm thinking i'd like to replace it with another if I can use the same transducer bracket. Haven't really looked into it yet, but i'm hoping it would be compatible with a new unit. If not, oh well, i'll do what I need to do. Did a bit of research - but i like to hear opinions firsthand from fellow fisherman. LeBaron has the Humminbird 525 for $129, and the 535 for $189 Any recommendations?
  12. ...and i did!!! lol i'm talkin about when the guy on the motor is swinging the boat around all over the place cause he can't do two things at once...hehe...nobody touches my motor anymore but ME!
  13. when the person manning the trolling motor has no consideration for those fishing the back of the boat...
  14. Good 'ol San Benedetto!! LOL. Nice fish. I agree - prob pushing around 3lbs+
  15. Being in sales, maybe i'm a little less sensitive to the tactics they use. Either way, i am and have been saving money. That's the bottom line for me. I dont know what to expect come renewal time, but i'll deal with that then...
  16. My bad. I saw Energy Savings and immediately thought Natural Gas...
  17. I wouldn't call it a scam. That's an issue with agents - not the company. They first came to my door 4 years ago re: natural gas 5 yr rate. I signed, knowing i had the chance to cancel if necessary - though the agent was definitely persistent. I drilled the customer service people with every question I could come up with when they called back 10 days later, and was impressed with how they handled my concerns. Long story short - i stuck with them at a $0.29 rate for gas...which was about $0.03 higher than what we were paying at the time. In looking back at rates over the last 4 years, we definitely came out on top. At the very least, you're protected against sudden and major increases. How could you not worry about rising energy costs? Not sure about the deal for Hydro though. Haven't gone down that road yet...
  18. FONZI - is that you?! welcome buddy. best fishing forum on the net!! you, me and joe have to get out for bass in a couple of weeks. i'm gonna be seeing him tonight, so i'll remind him to remind me to set somethin' up
  19. ahh, you were the guys in the lund going wild on the perch! lol, we were in the Tracker not too far away...managed a couple of walleye, but not much else that night. man it was hot...
  20. Kinda sounds like our Sunday out on Cooks - started to rain as we launched the boat, poured on us the whole time we were fishing, then cleared up just as we got back to Harry's to leave!!! We did manage a few pike though good luck with the 'eyes!
  21. No - thankfully! We were there the week before that huge storm. But we've been going to Nippissing now for about 4-5 years if not more. I think my 2nd year out we got caught in some nasty weather that really kicked up the lake. Didn't think we would make it back to shore (alive). This year we'll be in my bud's new boat. Keep an eye out for four guys in a charcoal-gray Tracker with a 115 on the back!
  22. We'll be up in Callendar this weekend for our annual nip trip too. Had probably our best weekend ever last year - i'd say 95% our fish were caught in the evening hours. Good to know that the moon will be on our side this year, though i really hope we don't have to deal with any storms. I'd rather not re-live past years near-death experiences on the stormy waters of Nippissing.
  23. I called Merc Canada this afternoon - they directed me back to the link that was posted by Andy. As I understand it from them, the two concerns are water in the gas tank/line (because ethanol has an attraction for water) and ethanol's affect on rubber in older hoses as per LeXXington's post. She recommended being diligent in ensuring you minimize the opportunity for water to gather in the tank (i.e. keep it full, use stabilizer, water-seperating fuel filter, etc...) and to inspect gas lines/hoses for wear and deterioration often. So pretty much everything that boatman has already said!!
  24. Yes sir - had a good season with her last year, and hoping for an even better one this year. Didn't make any of my own modifications, but I think i'll tweak some things when i get her out in the next couple of weeks...just because! Didn't use the riggers at all last year, unfortunately. That will change this year for sure.
  25. i miss the sylvan. all locked up (in a warm, safe spot) just waiting to get back onto the open water. hopefully sooner than later!!
