just about every river, you can targer redhorse in rivers as well, like carp, they wont move more then 4 inches for a fly, so... and old on, I have heard of 40+ min fights

for fresh fish and fall steelhead, I use streamers, technique. cast, strip strip strip strip, take a step, cast, strpi strip strip, strip, cast strip wiggle strip wiggle strip wiggle strip, cast strip strip strip strip, cast strip wiggle strip willgge strip wiggel, strip, take a step , cast, ........ and it works... if the fish is there and you piss it off it will hit the fly like BAM, that what streamers are used for, finding Keen fish...

I like FireLine, I use it in certain conditions fly fishing but always attach a leader to it for stealth. think about bite dection, and no stretch lines, i.e. braid. just attach a lead to er and let em bite!

Hey there, Look into some Tippet Rings, if you can find them in Canada.. their a tiny tiny ring to tie to your mainline, then your tip. It saves the gruff of tying blood knots/surgeons knots etc. and eliminates the big ole barrel swivel. I use them mostly on my fly rods and they sure can hold a bruit carp off the bottom. I feel they will be just fine on conventional gear.. mind you, I always use straight leaders in the 4-8lb 8-20ft range, unless I'm nymphing, then I use tippet and always a Tippet Ring

those look really nice! good job! I suggest you tie on a stinger hook! I've lost some takes and visually watched a pike grab my streamer by the tail turn and never hook up. so I tie 20lb wire and have the hook point just shy of the end of the fly. it helps a lot, use a heavy guage hook, I forget what mine are but their a number 6 salt water type hook, I think.

and I actually started centerpinning years before I ever flyfished, so I usually fish weekdays, and if i am swinging flies I can and dont mind fishing alone with no one in the run/poos, and the great thing about skagit style spey fishing is.. i can use my sink tips or sone shot, and dead dripe or fish behind a rock without bugging the others,,its not always about the 'swing' but thanks

Hello and good morning all you OFNers! I hope everyone is doing well this winter. Well Im starting this topic because I think I need a little advice on buying a spey reel, Ive decided to jump rite into spey fishing and skip that switch rod thingie..So, in about a weeks time I'll have a grey's G series spey rod, and Im only getting it because of the price, its cheap! I'll be getting it in 13' #8 and havent the slightest clue as to what reel would match that with out spending much more then $150. is that possible? I like the greys gx500 but is that a single hand only reel? Im so lost and advice as to witch reel I should be looking into would rock! or, if any of you know someone selling a used one... please help me! Im just starting out spey fishing Iv been fly fishing for years so I have that down... and I am on a budget.. like a college budget without a student loan in the bank.. thanks in advance! you all are awesome! Any reviews here about the Echo Ion?

i might know this guy related to my family, and he has a workshop/garage larger then his house, full to the shingles with rods, baits, guns, ammo, bows, scopes.. motors boats, probably easily over 100rods, a collection from his youth over 50 years ago...he uses probably 75% of it all throught the year, and when not in use, their great conversaation pieces and eye candy. i even got a 9 year old to cound the treble hooks hanging from the boat.. he stopped at an even 600 lol kids...
