Well, I did ask LOL! I think this is one idea I'll just put on the shelf, you guys have brought up some really good points!

I guess I could post this as an NF thread but I'm not sure I need to. For quite a few years now I have been doing a lot of small engine repairs and as a result I have made some fantastic contacts for a wide variety of things. here is one example: A brand new carb for a Honda engine listed at $212.00, I was able to buy the exact same carb for $70.00 delivered to my door. I could sell that carb here in Canada for $100.00, make 30% and save the buyer $100.00. This is just one example, I've got many, many more. So I am thinking that perhaps with my contacts and experience (I've been importing and distributing for over 30 years now) perhaps I could help out some of the members here and make a few bucks to cover my time. This is something that could be extended to all sorts of things, almost a co-op type of arrangement. Do any of you think this might fly? Remember I'm not trying to get rich here, just save friends some money and perhaps put beer money in my pocket. Thoughts pro/con appreciated

We have an island right here in Sturgeon Lake that looks very much like that except ours has a lot more birds on it. Up until a few years ago we never saw one here, now we have huge flocks of them all over the lake.

Grind off what you can without damaging the hull then sit down with a dremel tool and grind off the rest. If it was put on properly in the first place you shouldn't be able to break it off. A nice fresh clean surface will be better for your new repair anyway.

Isn't it funny; people go buy fuel with ethanol in it then go buy Sea Foam to counter the effects of the ethanol. Seafoam contains 10-20% IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) which absorbs water allowing your engine to burn the water out of your fuel (simpler solution don't put water in your fuel)! Seafoam is most noted for removing/reducing carbon deposits; Simpler solution make sure your engine is properly tuned up and you won't have to keep adding Seafoam to remove carbon deposits that shouldn't be there. Seafoam will help to dissolve the varnish deposits left behind by ethanol (if it can get to them); Simpler solution, don't use ethanol products!

Simple, use hi test and no additives at all! Drain your tank and lines at the end of the season and put them away in a clean dry place, you'll never have a problem! As for spraying Sea Foam or anything else into the intake while an engine is running; it might help clean out a bit of carbon but it isn't going to do any good at all as far as solving a carb problem.

Well Lew it looks like you saved me several hundred dollars, apparently the car needs a new condenser and dryer???? Not sure what all is involved or what the cost would have been but I'm sure it would have been plenty and it is all covered under warranty. They have had to order in the parts and expect to be able to fix it some time next week. Boy am I ever glad I asked on here! Once again, THANKS!

Place in Sunderland just North of town on Hwy. 12 West side had a sign out front about the courses. Sorry don't have a name or number, just saw the sign in passing.
-
Pretty much right on the money: You'll need an outdoors card if you don't already have one but you should have it already. You need to take the course, you can't even borrow a firearm without having completed that. Then there is your small game license, migratory game bird permit, turkey license (oh and you have to take a course before you can get that) bear, dear, and moose licenses. Now, when it comes to a gun; IF you go through the courses and complete them, IF you have all the necessary paperwork in place, I have a Remington 870 Express magnum which I would LEND you until I need it back (which might be never). It's the old style so it's pretty much indestructible and by switching out the chokes (and I have the set) you can use it for just about any hunting you would ever want to do. One step at a time but keep me in the loop.

Jimmer is probably right, depending on what the problem is with the recoil spring all it may need is trimming and re bending the end. No part cost, just some labor however if I was doing this as a shop, I would replace the spring because if my "fix" lets go in a couple of months you'd be calling me every name in the book. That said, once we see what it needs then we can decide what the best way to proceed is. The carb probably needs a new kit put in it, I don't have the exact prices but typically I can pick one up (my cost) for about $30.00. I'm 70, I don't slug motors and things anymore but I am always happy to help someone else learn if they are willing to do the bull work. Anyway it's an open offer and you know how to get hold of me, good luck which ever way you go. Oh, and all I ever expect is a "thank you" (but I've been known to accept a cold beer or other beverage on occasion LOL)

All is good in the Snug Harbour area, radar looks like the worst is passed us now but it looks like about 4500 people without power in the Fenelon Falls/Bobcaygon areas. Hope everyone is ok!

Warranty 3 years or 60,000 K. 3 weeks left on the warranty, odometer 58,497. That's about the first good thing that has happened with this car since I bought it. Thanks Lew, I think you just saved me a lot of money!
-
I'll check it out today I might just squeak in under the wire. I believe I bought it Sept. 2013. Thanks, I'll let you know.
-
If you get it back and are willing to wait, I will help you fix it over the winter so that next spring it's good to go. I wish I could just do it for you right now but I really kind of have my plate full right now with the moving thing to take care of.

Thanks to everyone that replied! Thanks John, based on the above it must be a leak, guess I'll have to take it in to the dealer and get hosed again. I drove Nissans for 12 years before I got this Rogue (the name suits it). I have had so many problems with this car (and the dealership hasn't been much help either). I have a list two pages long of things that are in my opinion substandard. If she has 300,000 on her 07 it means she does a lot of driving, the seats in my Rogue would probably be more comfortable if they were milk crates. My wife's Toyota on the other hand, (bought 6 months before the Rogue) comfortable to drive, just normal maint. and not a single problem.

I am really sorry to hear that they aren't taking care of you in a much better fashion. They are both super guys and excellent mechanics and because of that they are swamped. I'm afraid that with all the big jobs they have to take care of the small ones tend to get left until they can fit them in.
-
Air conditioning on my 2013 Nissan Rogue is not working well (well the whole car doesn't work well but that's another story) and I was just told that my "cabin air filter" might be clogged and could be causing the problem. I really don't care if I have a cabin air filter or not, (been driving for 50 years without one) is there any reason why I couldn't/shouldn't just remove it?

Oh you got one thing right, I am no fan of Wynne's at all, to be quite honest with you I think she should be in jail for some of the things she has been a part of. As far as what her cardiologist makes, she has been his patient for 16 years now, he is not only her Dr. he is also a friend whom we trust!
-
This is nonsense! It started out as showing what a Dr. actually got paid for a visit compared to an appliance repair person and turned into a fight about what teachers get paid! Personally I just had a conversation with a man; his wife is a school principal. He told me that if teachers ever don't get the summer off it would be because of him! I do feel that there are teachers that do the bare minimum and get paid way too much for doing it but I also remember a teacher that played a major role in my life and helped me become the president of a corp. when most of the other teachers in my life would have been happier if I just didn't show up in their classes. Mr. Hugh Stephenson, grade 7 teacher, principal in our school, a man above men and he had confidence in me when even I didn't! But this isn't about Mr. Stephenson, it's about a cardiologist that has kept my wife alive for longer than my washing machine has survived, a man who has invested countless hours and money to perfect the skills to do it and he got paid about 30% of what the appliance repair man gets. I fail to see the logic in this!

Just saying; Bass are hitting off shore during the day, walleye are hitting top water close to shore in the evenings.

Sue did some checking into coverage if we were to travel in Canada and to the best of our knowledge we were covered anywhere in Canada for 200+ days (can't remember the exact number) same as if we were in Ontario.

You are fishing shore lines aren't you? Every day guys come along and fish my dock and catch nothing. I stand on my dock and cast out as far as I can and I bet I could win most of the bass tournaments on this lake with what I catch in an hour or two. They aren't in as close to shore this year!
