Thanks for the heads up on this, I had heard of him but didn't realize he covered such a broad range of topics. I found it here https://kat.cr/dan-carlin-hardcore-history-01-48-t11011300.html

A tough week for our friends down south
Big Cliff replied to BassMan11's topic in General Discussion
It is not much different here in Canada Art. Almost all of the shootings are non white shooting non white (I'm being polite). I'm not sure why it seems that way, perhaps whites are now the visible minority. As long as we have organizations like BLM claiming discrimination there will be no solutions. -

Doesn't matter if he killed one cop or one innocent person I totally agree take him out and save the tax payers a ton of money! Actually all they need to do is change the laws: Get caught carrying a gun without proper authorization 10 years, discharge an illegal fire arm; 20 years, kill someone with or without intent, Life! Second offence X3. No iff's ands or buts about it! Most of the people doing this sort of thing are career criminals that have been in and out of jail most of their lives. Now when it comes to cop brutality; there are a few bad apples out there sure but in 70 years I have never had a cop pull his gun on me, I have never been beaten into the ground, (or beaten at all for that matter) I have never had reason to fear for my life or safety. In fact just the opposite and in fact when I lived in French River I and my brother-in-laws stood sholder to sholder with a lone OPP officer, his name was Rod Mc xxxxxxx (won't post it openly) that was facing down 6 drunks looking to do him harm in the parking lot of the Champlain Hotel. He never did draw his side arm even prior to us stepping in. Perhaps things were just different then, people settled their differances with a fist fight then sat down and had a beer together. -

I have a feeling this isn't confined within country borders, it might be more prevelent South of us right now but the issues know no borders. Justice should know no color, justice should know no race, justice should be for one and all! -

I am sorry and I will likely take a lot of flack for this but: Miss Black America contest, The National African Canadian Association, Black In Canada, Black Theatre Workshop.... BLM, the list is endless! You can't have it both ways! BTW (all lives matter)! It isn't hard to find countless organizations that exclude white or non black people but at the same time try to form an organization that excludes people of color and you would have your butt handed to you and you would be tagged as racist. I grew up beside and lived with people of almost every race and nationality, I have many friends that are "non white" but we don't see colors, we see hearts and charactor, we see each other as people, as friends. Blacks need to be treated as equals, whites need to be treated as equals, until everyone starts treating the person standing next to him as equal there will always be these conflicts! I fear however that these conflicts are only going to worsen, it isn't the average black/white/ whatever race or nationality that organize these things, I truly think that a lot of these conflicts are the work of people with other agendas. Divide and conquer! -
WTG !!! Good luck Ernie!

Ya, once they get you signed up and you have paid your money then they tell you things like "well if you want buyers agents to bring their clients in you'll have to offer up to 2.5% comission". That's half of what you'd have paid a professional to advertise, market, and sell your home for you anyway. Subtract what you end up paying property guys and suddenly you aren't saving very much if anything. -

As a friend of mine put it the other day "when you live on the water you have two front yards to maintain". Thank you my friend. We would love to see you guys anytime you have the chance! -

When it got to the point that by the time all the work was done (and that never seemed to happen anymore LOL) I was too tired to go fishing I knew it was time to sell. -

Thanks for all the kind words and offers, much appreciated! Not sure about the RV thing, when I start to look at cost we can do a lot of road trips in a year for a lot less that the cost/maint./fuel.... of an RV. One step at a time LOL. Oh, that's only part of it, they put everything through an outfit called My Move Reality. Want to advertise an open house, $25.00 per. Want your listing on the local MLS, $795.00 extra, want to change wording in your listing, $20.00, fail to notify them promptly of an accepted offer $500.00 penality..... oh there is so much more and they out right lied about so many things. I am actually thinking of talking to a lawyer about it! You know that no matter where we are, you guys will always be welcome in our home! Just let us know when! We'll still be in the area LOL. Once we get moved I'll be way more available to get out and slay walters with you, you still have so much to teach me Making a list, checking it twice ! -
Too bad your budget isn't a bit higher, I'm selling my Princecraft 164 SS and it is in EXCELLENT condition, doesn't have the trolling motor but does have Lawrence HDS 5 sonor/GPS and it is ready to go. What to look for? no leaks, no rotten wood, everything in good working order, and brand names tend to be better built products.

Home inspections, septic inspections, well testing..... stress beyond belief, it's all done and as of 5:00 pm we no longer own waterfront property in the Kawarthas. It's been a long haul but part of that was our fault. Initially we got taken in by Property Guys with all sorts of promises: Things like "it will be on MLS" (what they didn't tell us was it wouldn't be on our local MLS board) there is tons more but suffice to say it cost us almost $5000.00 and two months. If you are ever thinking of going that route, talk to me first, I'm not saying it can't be done but it isn't what they say it is. We finally realized that this wasn't working and listed with a local agent, a really nice young man Scott Robinson from Century 21 and he lives just down the road from us. Scott was fantastic, had a professional come in and stage the house, got arial shots done, put together a beautiful presentation and he paid for all of it! In less than 5 weeks we ended up with multiple offers and sold at full asking! I guess "more than asking" would have been better but then to me that would mean it was priced too low. Closing is Sept. 7 so we do get to enjoy one more summer here and it looks like it is going to be a good one. We have had 16 wonderful years here and it's hard to leave it all behind but I just can't do all the work that is needed to keep up a property this size anymore. We will be staying in the area, just downsizing to something with a small yard and a house about 1/2 the size of this one. Something where I can get up in the morning, walk out on my deck with a coffee and not have to think about all the things I have to get done today. We are going to have a big garage sale in a couple of weeks and a "moving sale" toward the end of Aug. so anyone in need of furniture or anything give me a shout, drop by, pick out what you want and make an offer (but you can't have it until the end of Aug. LOL.). Now I have to go empty out our storage unit so I can find stuff again!

How long did it take this guy to return??????? You don't just drive up the highway, see a boat and motors laying on the road/side of the road and pop it on an empty trailer you just happened to be towing all within a couple of minutes. Something strange about this one!

Some help from the "tech savy" Please! NF
Big Cliff replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
WOW! Well I tried it out today and I have to tell you it is EXACTLY what I needed! I like it even better than Google maps and I did like Google maps. Once again, thank you so much keswickman for taking the time to help me with that, I hope I can return the favor one day! -

Thank you, that is exactly the information I needed. I don't need it for fishing, I already have an HDS 5 on the boat. I also have a GPS in my car but sometimes I find it nice to just be able to look at a map. The screen on the phone and on the GPS is a little small for that, the tablet screen is much nicer to work with. I really appreciate your help! -
Believe it or not I just won a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (ya, I know I never win ANYTHING but someone screwed up and I guess I did). I really like it but one of the things I would really like to do is use it with a map program: tell me where I am and show me a map of the area with roads etc.. I can do it fine if I have a WiFi but can't figure out how to do it when I don't have a WiFi connection. It does have built in GPS so I think it should be possible. I can do it on my phone without any problem (costs me data). Can this be done on the Tablet?

I have a Princecraft 164S with that same motor: 2 guys no problem, 3 guys a littls slow to get up, 4 guys takes it's time. My live well is in the front so if I have 3 or 4 guys in the boat I just pump the live well full and that extra weight in the front makes a huge differance. My boat is also rated for a 75 but I am quite happy with the 60 on it!

Steve was generous beyond all reason, we shared several fishing opportunities over the years! That man would take his last hook off his line and give it to you if he thought you needed it. I didn't get to see Steve much in the last two or three years but we often stayed in touch through email. I'll miss that crusty old bugger! RIP my friend!

Anyone know the results of the fishing tournament
Big Cliff replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Yes, wind was on shore and we live right on Goose Bay which was very heavly fished both days. 4 days of baking in the sun sure had them smelling like they were rotten but maybe they just smelled and looked that way. It might not have been from the tourniment but prior to it we have had one dead fish wash up on shore so far this year. -
Check out Riverwood RV park in Lindsay. They have a fantastic reputation, lots of kids and tons of things for them to do. Friends of ours stayed there last weekend and already booked for next year. Pet friendly, kid friendly, on the Scugog river.
