  1. Shoot me a text, I'll gladly have a look at it for you! I'm around all this weekend and I could drop by.
  2. Like Jimmer said!!!!!! Do you have any way to get it to me in Lindsay, I'd be more than happy to have a look at it for you!
  3. So I get up early this morning because I have to go to work and I know it's been snowing all night. My neighbor Gary had asked if I would MIND if he plowed my driveway this winter (he just got a new plow for his ATV ) (but I wasn't sure if it was beer talk or not) there is Gary out there on his ATV clearing my driveway, all I had left to do is my little path 20' long and sweep off the cars. Guess I better find out what kind of beer Gary Likes Oh I am going to like living here so much, at our other place it use to take me 2 hours or more with a 36" cut snow blower to clean the driveway and paths.
  4. It wasn't advertised in the flyer or I'd have gone in prepared to buy it. It was sitting out side the front door whit a big "Screaming Deal" price tag on it, that was Saturday afternoon. By Sunday morning (and after the snow fall advisory had been posted) the exact same snow blower had a "Screaming Deal" price tag on it but it was the higher price. As for CTC in Lindsay, they have always been awesome to deal with and will often honor a sale price days or even a week later. GBW, thank you so much for the offer but my neighbor came over last night, he just got a new plow for his ATV and wanted to know if I would MIND if he cleaned my driveway this winter (just big enough to park 4 small cars). This place is amazing!
  5. Everything I could see was frozen over, Balsam Lake too except for a little bit near Rosedale as of this morning.
  6. Saturday Sue and I stopped in at TSC here in Lindsay to pick up some Suet blocks that they had advertised at 50% off, only problem was that they had raised the price then advertised them at 50% off which was still higher than I normally pay for them not on special. Needless to say I didn't buy any. While I was there I noticed a snow blower on special, nothing fancy but it would have done what I needed and it was only $529.99. We were on our way to a friends for our annual Christmas G2G and I didn't have room in the car so I decided I'd just stop in on our way home today. This morning when I got up there is a weather advisory; 10 to 15 cm of snow on the way, yup going to get me that snow blower on the way home!!!!! We get to TSC before lunch and that exact same snowblower is now priced at $649.99. I talked to the clerk and he agreed that yesterday it was priced at $529.00 but maybe the sale had ended and only the manager could authorize it to be sold at the lower price. They paged the manager, they phoned the manager, finally after about 15 minutes the manager called them back and told them he would not honor the lower price,if I wanted it I would have to pay the $649.99. That will be the last time I shop at TSC for anything!
  7. I have never been so excited about freeze up before
  8. Well I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not but yes I'm glad it all got sorted out and I always appreciate the advice from fellow members
  9. I'd be in for a G2G and some crappies if the ice is safe or just a G2G if the ice isn't safe. I could even put on a big pot of chicken stew with dumplings (or something similar) if you wanted to use our place as a starting/finishing point. Overnight temps for the next two weeks looking very promising, lots of well below normal temperatures.
  10. When we bought our new place in Sept. it had an electric forced air furnace in it which was about 15 years old. We decided we wanted to go propane and got quotes from three local companies and ended up going with the Outram Fuels, theirs was middle ($4528.00 taxes and installation included) and they are right across the road from us, they were a small company but professed to have the best service around. Oct. 14 they came and installed the new furnace, an Intertherm which they told us was the only furnace approved for installation in a modular home confined space, they also told us that they couldn't install a high efficiency furnace because we have a crawl space and the condensation line from a high efficiency furnace would likely freeze in the winter. We have had nothing but problems from day one: The exhaust fan motor was making wired noises, there was a big dent and paint chip in the door of the furnace, the electrical box was left hanging in the hall and the air conditioning coil wasn't re-installed all of which they said would be corrected within days. Several phone calls, a visit to their office and finally an email to the general manager and they finally replaced the door, got the electrical cleaned up and got the air conditioning coil re-installed however a new problem had developed. Every time the furnace fires up there is a loud mechanical CLICK, pause then CLICK, CLICK again. They sent the technician over to check into it and he said it is something to do with the flame sensor but didn't know how to solve it and left. Several weeks, several phone calls, many apologies and a promise that they are doing everything they can to resolve this and still nothing has been done. Two weeks ago Sue called them again, more apologies, more promises and they told Sue they weren't billing us for the furnace until such time as the matter was resolved. Sure enough the other day they they not only billed my credit card for the full price of the furnace but a service call to come and replace the defective furnace door and to check out the noise, $217.53. To date nothing has been done to fix the furnace and when it is running the noise from the air intake is so loud that you have to turn up the volume on the TV and it's 40' away from where the furnace is. I think we've been ripped off and I know we have been lied to now on several occasions but I'm not sure what I should do. I have lost all confidence in Outram and Intertherm. Anyone in the HVAC business close to Lindsay that can help me? I will gladly pay traveling time or whatever I just need someone that knows their stuff to help me sort this mess out and if it involves putting a new furnace in then I guarantee you'll get the business. AMAZING! The day after I posted on here I get a a phone call from Outram Fules; The part is in to fix the furnace. They came yesterday and installed some new part and the clicking noise is gone and (I don't understand why but) the noise from the air intake is really reduced and quite acceptable now!
  11. Good for you Rick and that was a really nice gesture. Rest assured that Simon will make sure that Sean gets any and every advantage available however a little prayer every once in a while can do no harm.
  12. OMG that is so wonderful to hear! Thank you for the update!
  13. Is it only 14 years Art? I know I was on this board (well OFC) before we moved up to Lindsay and that was 16 years ago. (it changes the N to a C on me).
  14. I am so sorry, I honestly wanted to try to learn about something that I truly didn't understand. I really thought that there was enough intelligence and maturity in the members of this board to keep things civil and respectful in a debate, I guess I was wrong! The name calling and insinuations breaks my heart, these truly aren't the family I've come to know over these many years! I honestly can't see many of the things said being said in person during a day of fishing. Once again; my apologies, I will be far more careful in the topics I post in the future. Big Cliff
  15. I absolutely love where we moved to! Just some of the advantages are: a much lower cost of living, even without any investment income or work income we can live with just our pension income (it's tight but we can do it) which is a huge relief and a lot off stress gone. We really loved our place on the water but when it became more work than I could handle and it got to the point where the cost was more than we could comfortably handle (we could but we were starting to live on the edge with increased taxes utilities and maintenance) we knew it was time. Our old place was very private, a large lot, big hedges between us and the properties on either side, open fields across the road..... very rural, we enjoyed that (at least we thought we did). Here I can sit out on my front porch and have a beer and get to talk to a half dozen people in just an hour or so, it's really nice! If I want to be left alone I just go sit on the back deck. Our new place is all about community, pot luck dinners, cards, line dancing, darts..... do as much as you want or as little. Everyone looks out for each other, the lady next door brought us muffins just after we moved in, cut our lawn for us (it's 80 X 20) but she is in her 80's lol. The fellow on the other side; Gary came over with his leaf blower the other day and blew all the leaves (I had raked them the week before and did his yard while I was at it but more had come down). At the pot luck dinner I made newfie date crumbles (date squares but with coconut in the bottom and top layer). I'm now famous and have three offers of marriage LOL. Met up with a woman that makes the best cabbage rolls I've ever had (she took home some of my date squares and I took home some of her cabbage rolls LOL). Do we miss the sunsets, the sound of the loons in the evening, being able to walk down to the dock and catch dinner? Yes I guess so but we have 16 wonderful years of memories. Those experiences have been replaced by new ones, I now have time and energy left at the end of the day to go fishing, fly my quad copter, cook some wonderful meals in our new kitchen and spend time with friends. If I want to go fishing I now have to go down to the river (about a two minute drive) there is a beautiful sand beach, a pool, boat docks, and every amenity you could ask for and my total cost is $306.00 a month and my taxes are $56.00 a month. I got my second hydro bill the other day, $104.00 (our old place for the same period was $186.00 and we had a gas range and gas water heater) Since Sept. 7th when we moved in here our total propane usage is about $125.00 (might be off by a few $ but it's very close.) Would I do it again? In a heart beat but it has to be what works for you! You are a smart man, there are communities just like this all over the country so if you decide it might be a life style choice for you I'd suggest you look into it. You know you are always welcome to come for a visit and I'd love it if you did so if you ever want to take a drive......
  16. That would be Great! I usually know by 7 pm if I have to work the next day
  17. I don't want to turn this into a political thread and I sure don't want anyone else to so please don't! My question is an honest one, I would like to understand! I am having a really hard time understanding the protests and riots that are going on South of the border because of Trump being elected. It seems to me that it was democracy in action, the majority of the people that voted, voted for Trump and as a result he got elected. It doesn't matter what your personal views are, the MAJORITY of the people that VOTED chose to vote for him. That those who opposed him didn't get their way is too bad but poop happens and they were the minority. Smashing windows, looting, riots in the streets...... What do they think that is going to accomplish? Speak your mind by all means, hold rallies, voice your opinion (that's your right) but destruction of property and endangering the lives of others isn't going to change anything. My heart goes out to all our American friends, there may be a border between us but we really are one people.
  18. That would be on your head wouldn't it? Geeze I hope it doesn't come back and say they found nothing
  19. I remember that spot well my friend, that's going back a few years LOL.
  20. That would be great.
  21. Thanks! I'll look forward to that.
