Best meal I ever served: A dash of wine, a candles Glow. Blend with music, soft and slow. Serve with tender loving care! May this be one dish you will often share! written by 'Big Cliff"

LOL, and he still found it and I had to put up with him for the weekend. A wonderful weekend with many fond memories!

Well, I did make a set once and they worked quite well but by the time I figured out my cost for materials I probably could have bought a set on special for about the same money and spent a lot more hours fishing. As for release clips, I used a small alagator clip (available at any electronics shop, and a piece of heavy gauge heat shrink tube on each of the two jaws. I then used a shower curtin loop (the one shaped like an old style key hole) and attached the alagator clip to that to slide them down the line . For masts I went to an electrical supply shop and bought two pieces of metal conduit, I attached an eye bolt near the top and two simple clothing hooks further down facing in opposite directions to spool my line on. I may still have a bag of about 50/100 of the clips kicking around, PM me yopur mailing address and I'll send them to you if I can find them. One hint, use threaded rods to join your planer boards together so that you can adjust the angle if you need to for fine tuning and a piece of the bars that they use for tightening chain link fence is perfect for weight on your outside board, even has holes already in it for screws.

Really makes you wonder about the price of freedom sometimes.

Sinker, 313 is my place, 4 doors South of the marina.
-
That is criminal! Can I come fish with you someday I lived in Elliot Lake many years ago and experienced some of the best ice fishing ever in my life but I'm not sure it was quite up to those levels LOL. Wonderful report, thanks for sharing!
-
hey Sinker, I won't be around during the day, going to help a friend frame in some windows and stuff but I should get home around 5, if you are in the area drop in. Coffee is always hot and sometimes if you are lucky there might even be a cold one in the fridge (might be a few weeks old LOL, just depends on who was here last)! Anyway, Hope to meet you one of these days! Cliff

Not sure how they will handle it Roy, there is still a lot of ice out here and if the wind shifts before most of it breaks up there could be a lot more damage. Keeping my fingers crossed cause it has to just be heart wrenching to see your boat in that sort of a situation and not be able to do anything but wait and see. Yes Lew, that is the one.

You are so right Lew, it is sad! Living where we are, I see it almost every day, garbage tossed at the side of the road, tires, computers old boats, the one that bothers me the most though is the old drums of god knows what dumped where it can leach into our water systems. There is a beautiful little section of gravel road not too far from our house that runs through a bit of bush. The sides of the road are littered with old furnature, tires, you name it. Every year it gets cleaned up, within a week there is more stuff thrown in there. I am thinking of donating a game camera to the city of Kawartha Lakes so that they can catch some of the abusers. Not that they would ever do anything about it but.... Why do people have to be like that, there is a dump just a few miles down the road and most of the stuff there wouldn't even be a charge for. Just too lazy I guess!
-
Well, I couldn't get inside to see how much damage has been done to the boats but if you look at the wall on the right and several of the supports you can see that the ice has done a number on them. At least three of the boats are now in the water and I am sure they will have suffered a fair amount of damage as the roof seems to be resting on them and at least one of them is partly submurged. I sure hope they have a good insurance policy. not sure whow's insurance would have to cover it, the boat owners or the marina's. And you think you had a bad day?
-
Ahhhhhh! You are right Roy she sure is a sweetie! Happy Easter all!

I think I'll just go over to the trout farm this morning and catch a couple LOL. I'm not into freezinf and sholder to sholder crouds.

Sinker, it is the raised slips (not raised any more) on the SW corner of the marina where the point extends out into the lake that took the worst of the beating. It was dark by the time I got home last night but my wife said that the end of that building had come down on top of at least three boats and that they were now in the water and at least one of them was partly submurged. I have to go help a friend for a few hours this morning but I should be home by one pm. If you need ANY help at all just drop in and I will do whatever I can to help you. if you have a camera please try to get some photos and post them, I'll try too but we have company coming today for the weekend and I might not get a chance to post until after the weekend.

Well, I think I spoke too soon, today the wind changed the ice blew back in with a vengeance, my marine railway has been "realigned", but I'm lucky, the marina 4 doors down has had some serious damage and it looks like some boats there have taken a beating also. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow.

On Tuesday evening there was ice on the lake in front of our place, by the time I got up on Wed. morning the ice had moved 500' off shore, by last night most of the bay was open water, all that in 24 hours. In six years, that's the fastest I have ever seen it clear. I wouldn't be going out on any ice anywhere in this area.

Good luck Steve!

Sorry I didn't get to reply sooner, might even be too late but my wife worked for a planning dept for a number of years and she could perhaps help you to at least know some of the ropes. If youare still in the process please let me know and I will see if we can at least point you in the right direction. You might not get what you want but at least you will know you didn't go to a gun fight with a knife!

Spend, no, invest in the marine grade carpet, if you do the job properly you will get MANY years out of it. It would be a good investment even if you decide to sell the boat in the next few years.

I can tell you from experience thet Kirk's advice = GOOD advice!

Doesn't it seem strange? The companies that take care of their customers continue to grow while all the others settle into a common pool or fade away! Perhaps we should have a section on here for companies/suppliers that we consider "preferred"! TJ, sounds like a marketing opportunity! Wouldn't companies like Rapala enjoy being listed as a prefered vendor?

You have a PM. Hope it helps.

Take every birthday with a grain of salt. This works much better if the salt accompanies a Margarita. Wishing you all the best! Big Cliff

Joey, you don't have a raccoon problem, you have a landlord problem. I would simply call her back and explain that you had taken her advice and that there isn't a raccoon problem anymore but if she would like to split the cost with you, $325.00 should cover it. You probably won't hear from her again. However, there is some truth to the old saying "try not to burn any bridges behind you"!
