  1. Trust me, it can't be done, it's a hormone thing, men are just born with it
  2. Take a copy of those pictures and go to your local nursery or garden center. I can't tell for sure but looks like some sort of blight either from over watering or too much humidity. They should be able to help you out right away.
  3. Well, I just finished painting our whole house (upstairs), I'll have the basement finished this weekend. First, use a GOOD quality paint We ended up going with colour Your World top of the line paint (it was on special for about 30% off). Good quality paints will cover better (but I still did two coats) and Sue is very pleased (which means I am too). When it comes to trimming, they have masking tape now that you can put on and get a clean release up to 14 days later, it's a little more money but worth every penny. Also, the GOOD quality paints don't spatter like the less expensive ones do, saves a lot of clean up and they are far more durable. If you are finished painting for a bit but not finished the job yet, store your brushes or rollers in a plastic bag, squeeze out as much air as you can and seal it, I have kept rollers like this for two or three days and they were still good to use. Keeping them in the fridge does seem to be even better (still in the bag). I'm not much good at trimming but I ended up using one of Sue's small craft brushes for those small touch ups and found that worked really well, also, keep a damp cloth available to wipe up any mistakes right away. If you have any water stains to hide, pick up a can of BIN paint, CTC has it, just paint over the water stain and let it dry then paint it same as you would the rest of whatever you are doing, the stain will never bleed through. Just a few of the things I learned the hard way. Wish you were closer and I'd come and help! Hope it helps and good luck!
  4. Scariest day of my life was going for one of those and Dr. said "now this might be a little uncomfortable" and I realized that both his hands were on my sholders. If that happens run out of there screaming!!!!!!! LOL.
  5. They aren't too bad but depending on what engine it has on it, servicing them can be a problem, getting parts for some of the less known brands can be a problem. DO Not fill it up with gas and leave it sitting until you need it. Gas only has a shelf life of about 4 weeks and then it starts to break down, the most common problem I see in our shop is stale gas. The other problem we have seen a lot of with generators is the coil failing, we probably have 6 or 7 of them right now that we can't get coils for. Not bad when you consider that there are a lot of them out there but it sure doesn't help if you bought it a year ago and only used it once, the warranty is up, and you can't get the parts for it. Fuel stabilizer will help a bit but nothing replaces fresh fuel. I work on small engines everyday and EVERY can of gas that comes to my house has stabilizer put in it right away no matter if it is getting used in my boat, trimmer, chain saw or lawn tractor. Although most stabilizers will claim to keep gas good for up to two years, I try to make sure that I use mine within 6 months. Get an electrician to hook it up to your pannel for you and as Terry said you should have no problem, there are even automatic switches available that will automatically cut the power from the generator if the main power comes on but they will probably cost you more than the generator did. Your best bet would be to talk to SNAG and see what he can do for you, better to spend a bit extra and have something that will do the job, I am a big fan of propane generators, less problems with fuel and if there is a majour power outage and gas pumps aren't working you are still likely to be able to get propane. If you do decide to stay with what you have just remember that after you finish using it, drain the fuel tank and then start it and let it run until it is out of fuel, that will help to prevent the carb from getting gummed up and costing you for repairs. It will also help to make sure it will start when you do need it. Hope this helps but if you have any other questions, let me know.
  6. I'm a little busy this week Jack but if you would like I will drop by next week and give it a going over and get it ready for summer storage. Perhaps I'll see if it works for Beans and I'll do his for him same day then haul him over to your place for a bit of a visit while I do yours.
  7. Oh Paul, you are in so much trouble!!!!! LOL
  8. Sorry Wayne! Guess I shouldn't have said anything.
  9. Joyce, wondered where you were, glad to hear about your move! You will have to look my son up, he lives in Noelville, well, just outside on Trout Lake Rd. 224. When you get over that way look him up!
  10. In a recent thread it was suggested that a post by a member of "The old boys club" was allowed to post a link containing a damaging file and the mods allowed it to stay. Well, I have been a proud member of this board since the early days and I highly doubt that ANY of the board members would knowingly post a link to a site that could cause problems. If they did, then they deserve to be banned from this board for life. The key here is "Knowingly". I defy anyone to show me where a mod has knowingly allowed any post that could be construed as improper for any reason to be allowed to remain just because they are an "Old Boy". If anything they err on the side of caution and that is as it should be as far as I am concerned!
  11. That is a very kind offer, If I hadn't just paid $80.00 to have my hearing tested a couple of weeks ago I'd sure take you up on it.
  12. I was once a Boy Scout! Glad it helped!
  13. Thanks Solo, always like to give people the benifit of the doubt but had a funny feeling about this one. Appreciate the heads up!
  14. What a wonderful post! Loved the pictures, brought back some wonderful memories! Cliff
  15. While I don't totally agree with everything they have said here (I have had one chase me), some of it has to be true! Ok time for some facts (Sort of) All I can say about being bitten is; every report I have ever heard of someone being bitten, they have survived and that keeping cool and calm and getting medical attention as quickly as you can is a good thing but panic is not a good thing. I don't have any statistics regarding the number of people bitten every year/number of encounters/number of people that die but i would suppose that from what i have read it is extreamly low on all counts.
  16. Dang Bly, seems we are walking the same path just in different foot steps. You are just a much faster typest than I am LOL. Good post by the way, had I seen yours first, I wouldn't have bothered to post.
  17. Well, first of all New Angler, you will find that most of the people on this board are very willing to help but because many of the productive spots are getting over crowded they tend to be a little defensive and don't usually post detailed information to just anyone who signs up and asks. In fact most won't post specific information openly on the board at all anymore because there are so many lurkers that offer nothing and take everything. Personally, I don't blame them at all! Getting to know some of the people on the board is always a good start and the best way to do that is by introducing yourself, where are you from, what do you do,....... You will likely find someone on this board with common goals and intrests. Listen to some of the posts, topics, responses and you will start to learn about some of the personalaties. Some will fit with yours, some won't, that's OK! That's how friendships start and grow. Try to get involved in some of the activities, there are usually a few things going on from the "fishing for Tyler" event (we are always looking for people to help out with getting prizes or donations or in what ever way they can). Or attend one of the G2G's and get to know some of the gang. Unlike some of the fishing boards available, OFC isn't just about fishing, heck, OFC is about everything! I doubt there is a question that you could ask on this board that you wouldn't get an intellegent answer too (except where to fish LOL) within a few minutes at almost anytime of the day or night. I always use to say fishing was our common bond but I'm not sure that is quite true anymore, I think it has now become a blend of fishing/family. It's funny but the bigger our family gets, the closer and stronger we are becoming. So, I know this won't get you the answer you want right now but but not every trip results in fish either, why not back up a bit. Start a new thread and introduce yourself, tell us a little about what you do/like/have done/.... a bit of a bio. Listen, learn, get involved, build some friendships and the fishing will happen all by itself.
  18. Thanks very much for asking! Yup, all fixed up just like new. I picked it up from the shop last Friday, took it into Nissan on Monday morning and had them give it a good going over and they said everything was excellent, all new parts etc.. Then on Tuesday a State Farm rep called and asked if he could stop by as they do random audits on body shops. I couldn't believe how thorough he was, checked everything right down to door gaps and fits and even the undercoating. I can honestly say that I wouldn't hesitate to recomend any of the people that I had to deal with through this whole thing. I am very satisfied and glad to have my X-Trail back.
  19. All the very best to you on this special day!
  20. Great intro, welcome to the board. I can't help you much with fishing in the Barrie area but if you want to head North to the French River area I know some nice little out of the way lakes that have lots of pike and can be fished from shore or a canoe although you can find everything you want in some part of Simco.
  21. Guess it depends which Cliff LOL, I (Big Cliff) have been up and working for about two hours now and just decided to take a break. No fishing for me today.
  22. I really appreciate everyone that took the time to reply both on here and through PMs. The information and advice given will be taken to heart and while I really don't expect a resolution to the incident by writing any letters, it probably won't do any harm either. Thanks again! Cliff
  23. Cory! LOL Actually he thinks that's partly why they got escorted out LOL. For him to drive back to Ottawa +/- 5 hours each way probably isn't going to happen. Art, you are right, part of what I am trying to do here is to help a young friend and perhaps teach him a little about how to handle a situation like this most effectivly. If nothing else I hope to give him the satisfaction of knowing that he can count on friends to help him plead his case. The more opinions and help I can get to do this, the better I can accomplish it.
  24. On Mar. 22 A young friend of mine and five of his friends decided to drive to Ottawa and see a Sens/Leaf game. What I am "told" is that: "we all cheered the leafs on in the first period then my friends go to leave there seats and my one friend forgot her pom pom so she asked my guy friend to get it for her. The guy in front of us thought it was a little girls so he grabbed my friend and they rolled over 3 rows of seats, security came and broke it up. By this time there was us 3 males we agreed to do what security asked which was to sit down and move our one friend who was involved in the tussle, we said wanted to watch the game then the cops came up to us and said if we have to come back you will be removed so we sat in our seats and waited and watched as the attendant talked to the wife of the man who was involved {he actually left the scene and was never talked to or involved in the matter from the point the incident ) the attendant treated us like we didn't have any rights and did not ask us what happened at all. After a couple of min's she came up to us and asked us to walk up to the top so they could hear our side of the story so we walked up, there was 4 to 5 police and 2 security guards they asked us for are tickets and we handed them over then they let us tell our side of the story. The cops asked the security guards "so what should we do?" and they said they are gone! So myself and my to friends where escorted out". I am sure there is more to this than I offer here but it is not my place to judge and I wasn't there to see it first hand. My young friend has asked me to help write a letter of complaint about the fact that they weren't treated very fairly, the man who instigated the confrontation was never questioned and wasn't escorted out (apparently he took off and they never saw him again), according to my young friend several other fans vouched for their rendition of what happened yet they were thrown out. My young friend feels that if nothing else they should be given a refund for their tickets which cost them $115.00 each. First; what do you think and second, who should the letter(s) be sent to? I tried to do a bit of research but I have never been in this sort of situation before and between Corel Center/Sens/Scotia Bank Place, I'm not quite sure where to start. Also, there were no charges laid but is there likely to be any kind of a police report or anything that I might be able to get a copy of? Any and all help would be much appreciated. Thanks Big Cliff
