  1. A very Happy Birthday to you my friend
  2. So a police officer is trying to do his job (Ride program I think you said), he engages you in a bit of conversation, simple enough question "can I see your fishing license?" What is the big deal, he didn't threaten to charge you or anything. Man I'd really hate to be a cop; do your job and everyone rabid dogs, don't do your job and everyone rabid dogs. Unless he was undually agressive or used excessive force then get over it and be thankfull that there are people out there that do try to serve and protect.
  3. Sorry to hear about your dog going missing, some kid is probably trying to convince his mom that he should be able to keep this cute little stray that he found and mom probably doesn't know where to start looking to find the owner. Was he wearing a colar with your name and address or is he micro chipped? Anyway, a call to the local cop shop and ask them if they could keep an eye out for him might help. Hope you find him soon!
  4. It's more like Moe is a good woman! To be able to do some little thing for her after all the things she has done for others is nothing but an honor and a pleasure!
  5. Special price if you pick it up before Moe does (Cash only) $21,199.00 (no taxes). (It's Ok Moe I'll only take 1% comission). Get you butt over here Clamp-it it's a good deal!
  6. Well, mission accomplished! Fresh fuel and oil, Seafoam, tweeked the carb (it was set way too rich), adjusted the idle speed, it was set way too low, then took it for a test run, darn thing runs better than my motor does (mind you, I haven't tuned mine up in about two years, too busy fixing everyone elses stuff LOL). You've got yourself a really nice package there Moe, the waves are just bordering on white caps here and this thing handled it beautifuly, rode nice and smooth and got up on plane very nicely, engine just purred! Anyway Moe, she is here for you to pick up anytime you want, I have parked it down behind the garage so it is nice and safe and it is out of the way so leave it as long as you would like. Cliff
  7. The rain has stoped, the sun is coming out, I'll be heading over to put the boat in the water shortly, I'll know more after that.
  8. Not sure about that Moe, I might be wrong but I don't think there is a gasket in there anyway.
  9. Cleaned the fuel filter, pulled and checked the plugs, lots of oil, actually probably way too much. Checked both the coils seem to be fine. Picked up some SeaFoam today, tomorrow I'll start with a fresh tank of properly mixed gas and some SeaFoam and see where that leads us. From what I have seen so far it looks like you might have just ended up with way too much oil in your gas and too rich a mixture on your carb. All easy fixes! I'll let you know tomorrow. Cliff
  10. 13th as of this morning!
  11. I am so sorry to hear of your friends passing. You are so right though, if you don't push for answers very often you get sent home to see what happens. When Sue was in ICU in Milton, waiting for a bed in Toronto general for over a month, I finally got frustrated and called the Ministry of health. I explained that my wife had been in a bed in ICU for a month waiting for a bed in Toronto General for a bypass operation and that if I didn't have an answer and a darn good reason why she couldn't seem to get a bed I was going to every media outlet that would listen and I was going public with what was happening. Within two hours they called me back and she was transfered to Toronto general the following morning. Seems some Dr. hadn't filed the proper papers or something. Fortunatly she did get the care she needed and is still with me today but it was a close call. If you or a loved one are going through a similar situation, make a list of questions to ask your Dr.s. It is easy to forget things when you are sitting in the office talking with someone that basicaly has your life in their hands. Take someone with you and ask lots of questions and expect answers; "I don't know", or "I think" aren't answers. Do some research on your symptoms, it is so easy today with the internet. Don't be afraid to ask for specific tests, CT scans, MRIs. Dr.s are people too and they can and do make mistakes. Be specfic when you are explaining your problem, "I don't feel well" doesn't give them much to work with. Weight gain or loss, changes in bodly functions, times of the day, things that make the symptoms worse/better...... all these things can help them better diagnose what your problem might be. Your friend may have passed and we can't change that now but perhaps your post will help save someone else and some good can come from it. Our prayers are sent. Cliff and Sue
  12. Had a very quick look at it last night, the oil does look burnt and could easly be excess premix oil. I will have a closer look at it today and see what I can see. Did it smoke quite a bit when you did get it started Moe?
  13. I can't vote again until tomorrow morning but trust me, I'll be there!
  14. You guys are just too funny Glad to hear that they finally got to where they are going and will finally see some action again, it has been a while! Joey I'm sure squid will show them to you in person (or replicas) you don't need a picture.
  15. Doesn't happen to be oil injected does it? My 55 hp Suzuki did the same thing to me once, turned out the oil tank was getting a little low and the oil sensor triggered. Motor still ran but at a very reduced speed. Had to top up the oil tank and push a reset button. Motor ran fine after that.
  16. Bell and I have a love hate relationship, I love to hate them and I'm pretty easy to get along with!
  17. Alcetic, I looked at your profile; location unknown, birthday unknown, gender unknown...... Doesn't tell me anything about you at all. Think of it like this; walk up to any strange house and start asking for information or advice, you probably aren't going to get much. Walk up to a friends house and you'll probably do a bit better. Walk up to family and you'll probably end up getting swamped. As you have seen from the posts above, OFC is family. As for not being able to contribute anything, every single person who comes to this site has something they can contribute, it doesn't have to be fishing related. Most of my posts aren't advice on fishing, I'm not that good compaired to many of the people on this board. Sometimes it is as simple as offering to help with the fishing for Tyler event or other worthy causes, sometimes nothing more than your thoughts or prayers when someone is going through a rough time. So, tell us a little about yourself: retired/student, Canada/USA/England, hobbies/intrests..... We are always open to adopt another new member into the family.
  18. I would go with the floating! My buddy put one in last year, there are cement blocks to anchor it to with chains and steal posts that drop down to the bottom to make it very stable. In the fall, he ties a rope to the chains and a plastic jug to the rope, pulls up the steal posts, pulls the dock along the shore and just ties it off. It works VERY well and I think it cost him about $1600.00. If I had the money, that's the way I would go!
  19. Went hunting one time, brought the dog, brought the gun, left the shells sitting on the counter at home. The dog sure wasn't impressed!
  20. That would make sense Terry, I hadn't thought about the auto/manual function of the switch.
  21. Way to go Sydney Loved those pictures! Hope to see you guys soon, I need a Sydney hug!
  22. Is the dial a mechanical one (I assume it is but want to be sure) Now, you said a two way switch, does it pump in with the switch in one position and out with the switch in the other position? If not then it is probably quite simple. Power to the switch, output from the switch to the timer, output from the timer to the pump. That way, if either the switch or the timer is in the off position your pump will not work. Let me know if this sounds like your setup.
  23. Well, it has been a busy one, got to meet Fisher, his brother-in-law, and his son; really nice people, I really enjoyed talking with them, I hope some of the information I gave you helped produce some fish. Then we had a fellow in to take down a tree for us, it was a 60' Manitoba maple that had started to get a little dangerous and it was only about 20' from my boathouse and about 30' from my neighbours boat house. We decided it was better to take it down than let the wind do it for us. The bonus for us is that it really improved our view of the lake. My only regret is that Peter (perodimi) dropped by on Saturday to say hi and I didn't get a chance to spend very much time with him as we were in the middle of cleaning up this big tree. I really do apologize Peter, hope you got into a few fish and I'd really like to hook up with you some time so I can fulfill my promise to get you into some fish on this lake! Friday evening my niece's 9 year old daughter was down fishing off the dock with her brother, she had caught a small perch and was bringing it in when a muskie nailed it, she managed to fight it by herself and got it right up to the dock however when her brother tried to lift it out of the water it got off. We talked about it after, she was a little disapointed that we hadn't gotten pictures but after we told her about live release she headed right back down to see if she could catch it again. She didn't, but had a ball trying. Anyway, good weather, some really nice people and something accomplished. Makes it one heck of a good week in my book!
  24. I always help when I can, fishing or non fishing. Most of the time I prefer to do it by PM simply to keep from posting information openly on the internet that could ruin someone elses fishing spots. I have been a member of this board since way back in the beginning and I have never once in all those years asked for help or information on any topic that I wasn't very pleased with the quality of the replies I have gotten. When I needed help putting my dock in this spring, a whole crew showed up to help me, go find that on some other board. I have looked at several other boards over the years, some very good ones but OFC is like family to me, go elsewhere if you wish; me, I'm staying right here!
  25. Beautiful job Cliff, looks very professional.
