Well the reason he is an old man is because he is such a good pilot, the lousy pilots don't usually live long enough to get to be old men!

My son is looking at a new GPS and I was wondering if anyone has one of these or knows anything about them; good/bad/ thoughts? Garmin GPS

Hey, if my taxes keep going up the way they are, that will soon be my retirement home! What would it cost to move it here to Ontario?

You really have to wonder how; with no power, all those boats using the river, and at such a low altitude, that pilot managed to turn that plane and land it under control without hitting any boats and with no loss of life? Man it just boggles the mind! I guess the lesson here is: No matter how bad things seem don't ever give up!

Anyone got a link to that footage?

A friend emailed me this one. "How cold was it . . . . . I got a coffee, sat it on my fender to unlock the van . . . . it froze so fast the ice was still hot!! " Thanks Steve, sent it to my kids and a few other choice friends

That is why I spend a few extra $ and buy the good quality ramps. I paid about $200.00 for mine, they are aluminium, nice solid construction, excellent traction, you can walk up and down them with a snowblower no problem.

There seems to be some confusion over the way receipt of payments were supposed to be acknowledged. I suspect that is all that is holding things up as I know TangledLines and you WILL get what you bid on. No idea why you haven't got a response back yet but I am sure you will!

I have an aqua-vu, works well if the water isn't too dirty. Tried it in Jack lake last winter but the water there is really tea stained and I couldn't see more than about 3-4'. One trick I have learned when using it for ice fishing is to set it up so that it points straight down. You can then suspend it above your bait and see anything that approaches. Otherwise, you are always having to worry about which way the camera is pointing. They ae a good tool/toy under the right conditions.

A little of what has been keeping me busy....
Big Cliff replied to Bly's topic in General Discussion
Well, if Cliff wears a kilt here, he'd better be playing the bag pipes or everyone is going to find out what a man wears under his kilt LOL! Carole I think it is fantastic that you have done so muce research back into your family history. My daughter has been working on a similar project for years now (our family LOL). And she has uncovered some really interesting facts. (Like I am a decendent of some king something or other) Seems he might have had an insestious relationship or something so we won't go there LOL. anyway, history is wonderful when you are part of it and what else do we have to leave to our kids? Good on you girl! -
Well, to be honest with you, while there may be some problems with CTC they treat me like royality. I have taken defective things back there without a receipt many times over the years and they have always been able to work something out that I thought was fair and reasonable. Sooooooo, Are they perfict? No! Will I continue to shop there because of their customer service, prices, and selection? You bet I will! BTW HH, I checked all the CTC stores in our area and they are all out of stock too!

I had a wonderful time and didn't catch a fish (But CPH kindly left me a few for a feed!) Bill, it was really nice to finally get a chance to fish with you, You'd be welcome in my boat/ice hut/sholder to sholder on the shore..... anytime! Beans and CPH? Well for those two there will never be too many fishing trips with you guys! I really don't want to do any spaming here but to not share our experience at Leisure Cottages with you would be like trying to keep it a "Lake X". Hey, we had a fantastic time with wonderful people but we can't tell you where? Now one thing about me is I always try to be honest and objective. I loved the location, I was VERY impressed with the owners and the staff, the service was awesome but the first hut Beans and I were in was not well laid out, It was very narrow, the heat source was high on the wall and there was no way to get heat down towards the floor. I am only guessing here but I would guess it might have been 4'X8' at best. They did move us to a much nicer hut about noon but old farts like Beans (Yah, Yah and me now too) we tend to get stiff and uncomfortable in a small area. The second hut was much more comfortable with lots of room but again I found it awkward to fish, the holes were at the very end of each of the seats, I'm not sure what the perfect layout would be but while the hut and everything was really nice, it was a bit hard to fish (for me anyway). I would really like to see them invest some money in some well desigined huts and perhaps even an ice bungalow or two. I think that with their setting and their attitude toward customer service they would end up booked full by the first ice every season.

Well, it is East of Toronto but this guy is HONEST, SMART, and an EXCELLENT mechanic. He doesn't need to advertise, his reputation is so good that his entire business is built on referrals and he is always busy! Karr's Cars on Snug Harbour Rd. just N of Lindsay. I have nothing but respect for this young man. I have referred several people to him and never been disapointed! If you are willing to travell this far, let me know and I'll get his phone # for you.

Tiz, could that be an INTEK SNOW, not INTECH SNOW if so it is a Briggs engine. I'm not familiar with "INTECH SNOW" but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist (Not that this is a problem, just want to be sure I have ALL the right parts on hand). Holdfast: start using fuel stabilizer in all your gas that is used for anything but your car and at the end of the season....... Oh, the list is too long, perhaps we need to start a new section "Small Engine 101" LOL. The short explanation is you are leaving stale fuel in your equipment. Gas with ethanol only has a shelf life of 4 weeks then it starts to convert to break down.
-
OK Tiz, Get the mod. and SN off of it for me or if you still have the manual, there will be two belts listed, after 5 years, you might want to replace both of them because you have to split the blower to change them. Send me the Mod. and sn, or the part numbers and I'll make sure I have everything here that I need to do a full and proper service on it for you. The main jet on that carb is up inside the carb, again, easy if you know how. I won't be here tomorrow but if you wanted to come up here next Saturday morning, I can do everything for you while you wait (about an hour). Let me know Cliff
-
Well, first of all which engine does it have on it, Briggs or Tecumseh? The problem is as others have suggested dirt or water or stale gas or a combination of all three. You need to clean the carb bowl and main jet, it isn't a big job but if you don't know what you are doing, you can muck things up really quickly. Is there any way you can get it up here to Lindsay, I'll gladly fix it for you for the cost of the parts!

After I related our experience with our last power outage a couple of weeks ago, JeffBornFishing & TangledLines offered to come over and take a look at what we needed to be able to easily have heat etc. if there was another power failure. True to their word, they came by last night with tools and materials to do almost anything that might need to be done. After a bit of chatting and a coffee, Jeff and I headed down stairs to assess what we had to work with and what would be needed. I sure have to tell you, Jeff really knows his stuff, clearly explained what could be done and what my options were. Heck, he was prepaired to rewire my furnace right on the spot (it's OK, that is what he does for a living LOL). Anyway, turns out the generator I have would be big enough to run my furnace (if Jeff rewired it) but not much else so it would mean that I would have to run the furnace for a while, then power other things for a while. Not so good during the night. Anyway, looks like we have three options; live with what we have, get a bigger generator, or get a BIG generator that will run the whole house. Sue and I are going to have to crunch some numbers and decide which way to go. I really want to thank both of them not only for their company but for taking the time to come all the way over here to help us! I hope some day I can do something to return the kindness you've shown us!

They are both a class act for sure

OK, if you can get the walleye to stay lit, you can smoke them in the hut.

Well, your first mistake was going back to a place that had done the exact same thing to you once before. If you don't have anything in writing, you are now caught between a rock and a hard place. PM me the name of the dealer and contact information, I might know someone that can give me some insight.
