A good quality stabilizer will work but remember most stabilizers contain ethnol and will absorb water. I prefer to empty out the gas then start it and run it dry. There are no leather seals in the carb to worry about so leaving it sit dry won't hurt the carb at all. All the diaphrams are either plastic or synthetic materials. Putting a tsp of oil in the spark plug hole and cranking the engine over a couple of times won't do any harm either, just make sure you put the spark plug back in so no dirt or bugs can get into your cylinder. I liked Leachman's idea of making sure the blades are protected, rust could sure take the edge off of them. One thing most people don't do but should; after everything else is done and the unit has cooled down, put a plastic bag over the engine and tie it off. You would be amazed at how many things I see every year where spiders or wasps have gotten into the muffler and plugged it. Things just don't run well with the exhaust plugged

They did stock it back in the mid 80's; they use to have a trout derby there every spring on opening weekend. There also use to be native browns, rainbow and the odd spec in the creek, last time I fished the creek (about 10 years ago) we caught quite a few dink perch. I'd never caught a perch in the creek in ten years of fishing it until then. There use to be a few places you could access the creek down stream of the dam but it is now all private or so over fished it isn't worth wasting your time.

Well, the one good thing to come out of this is: I no longer have to worry about sex, the government is going to see to it that I get screwed every day for the rest of my life!

Just heard on the news that our Premier wants to change things to a new harmonized tax. He said it would be good for us and stimulate the economy. Saddly everytime a politician tells me it will be good for me I know it means it is going to cost me a lot more and is going to raise the cost of buying a new home by an additional 5%. How is that supposed to stimulate the economy?

We do have a DIY section, it is right here where it is easy to find. As far as a post getting lost, I usually check in here about twice a day and it only takes a few seconds to see if there are any new threads. If I want specific information on anything, I try the search engine, if that doesn't give me what I need, I simply ask and almost always get the information I need very quickly. I've been around here since nearly the beginning and I like the site just the way it is!

Fantastic report, thanks for sharing it! -
Sorry, owners manual doesn't cover changing the impeller and I don't have access to the service manual for that engine. To the best of my knowledge the hardest part is reconnecting the shift rod when re assembling.

Well, if you really want a pond for trout fishing: I just found out that the local trout farm is up for sale. Three fully stocked ponds, specs, rainbow, and walleye. 50 acres with a couple of cabins plus the main house, camp sites, petting zoo. Anyone want to run their own business and get to fish every day?

The fact that the engine runs well for the few seconds just as it is running out of gas leads me to believe that your problem is fuel related. As it is running out, it is running lean. Too rich and/or stale fuel would cause all of the things you have mentioned. First and most important: Make sure the fuel you are using is fresh clean fuel, not something that has been sitting in a can for the last 3-4 months. Stale fuel would cause the symptoms you mentioned. Make sure you are using high test, that motor is desigined to run on 91+ octaine. With the proper prop on that motor it should run at 5000 RPM +/-200 at WOT (wide open throttle), do you have a tachometer? Let's start with the easy things first and see what that does then we can go from there. Can you get me the serial no. as there are 4 different service manuals for that engine depending on the sn.

This isn't for hunting, she is a photographer and just wants to photograph them. I don't believe that is a problem but please correct me if I am wrong. I think I am going to try to get her into BPS as they seem to have a good selection. Thanks for the input and replies!

Garmin all the way!!!!!! I have been using Garmin GPSs in the bush, on my boat, and in my car for years. Excellent units, very good customer service if you ever do need. The only thing I will say is that they should be used as a "tool" much like a map. They can be very helpful but they are not an autopilot!
