  1. Just remember any man that wants the hand of that little princess is going to have to deal with Cliff and BIG CLIFF He'd better be a prince if he is going to go fishing with this princess
  2. Very nice looking package there, well thought out! Congratulations you two, you deserve it!
  3. You should have been here last year, I gave two of them away LOL. I have about 150 lbs of lead if you want to make a mold and cast some?
  4. Well a cold PC Pilsner on a hot day would go down OK, I think I might have had 5 or 6 last summer (OK, OK, might have been 8 or 10 LOL) All I know is I bought a 24 and ended up giving about 1/2 of it to my nephew. Peter first of all it was a real pleasure to see you again, and I am serious about us getting a chance to fish together this summer. I'm really looking forward to it. As for the lawn mower; I did it because I enjoy helping others and it is something I can contribute, but there is more to this story. Peter showed up at my work, went and picked up coffee and hot chocolat and Tim Bits for the whole crew; paid for the parts, then insisted I take the CTC gift card which was way too much. Peter, your genorosity overwhelms me! Have a safe trip my friend and give me a shout when you get back.
  5. Always enjoy your reports Bruce. Good on you!
  6. Well, to say I'm excited would be an understatement, I've even been practicing not sleeping all night just so I get it right on Thursday. Friday morning; John, Barb, and I are meeting up for breakfast and then we are heading down to spend a weekend with Marc Thorp (Who wouldn't be excited?). Getting a chance to fish with John again, getting to finally meet Barb, add that to a weekend of fishing with Marc, and top it off with a chance to see Roy and J again...... well, I feel like a five year old waiting for Christmas morning to get here. My body may be 63 years old but my brain still hasn't caught up with it yet (oh wait, maybe I'm in my second childhood??????) WHO CARES!
  7. Trust me, you didn't want to be out on Sturgeon Lake yesterday in a small boat anyway, 3' waves and we are on a somewhat sheltered part of the lake. I think it is really good of them to not let people go out when conditions are that bad.
  8. Beans, you can come over here and burn burgers ANYTIME you want to my friend. It is so nice of you to treat everyone like a God by giving them burnt offerings (kind of reminds me of my first wife) LOL.
  9. It is always a pleasure to try to give something back to those that help others, that is what makes OFC the place to be. Jack is very smart, instead of trying to "tweek this or adjust that" he got it to me before there was anything seriously wrong with it, the ones that someone else has tried to fix first are always the toughest to work on LOL. As for the dock; Jack I could try to put that dock in in the middle of Jan. and there would be 3' waves that day LOL. It is just the way of the world! If I don't get cold and wet then the docks aren't in. At least with the new design it is going to be a lot easier to handle. I was very lucky to have my son and nephew here this weekend, those two young men did all the heavy work. I'm not quite finished yet but what is left to do I can easily handle myself. I just have to pick up a few more pieces.
  10. As you come off of long beach stay to your right, there is a point (Ball Point) From Ball Point head straight across the lake you'll see a marina. Use to be called the Moorings but it has just changed hands so I'm not sure what name you'll see on it but it is the only one in that area. I am 4 doors to the right of that marina as you come across the lake. My boat house is grey with a maroon door (no Roy I still haven't painted it!) There is a green marker bouy out in front of our place CP27. No stumps or rocks to worry about, nice and safe right straight in to our dock from there. Dock should be in by this Sunday I hope. Big Guy, I'd love to see you again any time, perhaps we need to have a mini G2G this year.
  11. I let mine sit for 3 weeks then Sue made me put it down even though I insisted the longer it sat, the better it would be
  12. Sturgeon Lake, Lindsay Lunge Haven Cottages
  13. Welcome to the board and the area. I live on the East side of Sturgeon Lake Just a little North of where you are. Out in front of you is an area called Goose Bay. Do you have a boat? Fishing in Sturgeon lake is like any other lake that has fish in it; if you know where to go and what to use, you can/will catch fish. A few years ago, I'd have openly posted on here where to go and what to use, what was working where and when, things have changed over the last few years, there are so many lurkers and this site is so popular that an open post today could cause a dozen boats on the spot tomorrow. If you have a boat and know how to get out to the chanel that leads between Lindsay and the lake I'd be happy to sit down with you and share some information on what and where. I won't give you all my spots but enough to get you started. If you don't have a boat and want to take a drive over, I can share some shore spots with you but I am running out of them. Just so you know, I landed 4 walleye and lost 2 in about 1/2 an hour last night (from shore!) I'd say there is some excellent fishing in this lake!
  14. Now, this is one of the best threads I've read in a while! LOVE IT! I was very strict when bringing up my kids, they were taught to be polite and respectful. The rules were simple; first time you did something wrong, you had it explained so that you understood why it was wrong, second time we had a very good talk to insure there was no misunderstanding and what would happen if there was a third time. After one or two tests to see if I meant it, there was seldom a third time! When my daughter was about 6, she got angry one evening, went into her bedroom and slammed the door. I took the door off the hinges and she didn't get the door back untile she understood it was my door, I was just letting her use it and slamming it wasn't considered a good use of it. She never did slam her door again LOL. When my son was about 25 we had a conversation one evening and one of his comments was "I didn't always like some of your rules but one thing I have to say is, you were always fair"! I am very proud of both my son and my daughter! I think that the biggest problem with youth today is that there is no accountability. They do whatever they want when ever they want, teachers can't discipline them, parents can discipline them (just try giving little Johnny a spanking, you'll be in jail for years). A friends 15 year old daughter stole their car keys off the kitchen counter and took their car for a joy ride, they got charged for leaving the keys where the daughter could get them. If I had tried something like that when I was a kid; I'd have had to eat supper standing up for at least a week and that would have been for even thinking about taking the keys.
  15. All the very best to you beautiful! You deserve it!
  16. What is really nice is when I remember some of your posts about a year ago this time, Things seem to have really turned around for you. Good on you!
  17. A real beauty for sure! Fish isn't bad either.
  18. Keenen, welcome! What area of the lake were you fishing? I live on Snug Harbour Rd. near the Moorings Marina.
  19. Looking out the window, waves of rain blowing across the lake so hard at times I can hardly see my boat house, lightning, gusting winds and there are still boats out there, after all these years I can't figure out why no one ever seems to take a strike. I love fishing but not that much!
  20. Welcome to the board! So why aren't you out fishing this morning?
  21. My plan "B": Well, I had hoped to have my shore line repaired and my docks in but! The above average high water and strong winds this spring tore all my cribbing out and caused a lot of erosion. I tried to get a permit from Trent Severen Waterways to repair it but all they would say is "apply for a permit but we are several months behind". I finally managed to get a letter from the Ministry of Fisheries authorizing me to do emergency shore line stabilization (got it within two days) and prevent further damage both to my shore and to the lake. I hired a contractor (there goes a couple of grand I hadn't budgeted for), he was supposed to be here this past week but he still hasn't shown up. So, here I am with no docks, no way to put them in until the shore line is repaired, no way to get in and out of my boat so I guess for me plan "B" will be shore fishing this evening. Oh well, could be worse, I might have had to go to plan "C".
  22. Thanks ehg!
  23. My son and I started one years ago up near Noelville, it was called Northern Lights, we had so much fun monitoring the finds on it but I haven't heard anything about it for about a year now and had sort of forgotten about it until I saw this post. If I get a chance I will try to check it out this summer and see if it still exists.
  24. Really nice to see you getting out and catching some nice fish too Bruce. Good report!
  25. Those smiles are priceless! Nice report and pictures!
