Does Darwins law apply? Should we be the ones to decide? Personally, I love to eat crappie so I fish for them but MNR tells us we can only take (?) depending on where you are. Are they the people that should decide? It seems to me that if it is an invasive species and going to destroy the current environment that there should be no limit on them. Same thing with pike in the Kawarthas. Why is there a limit on them? I'm just waiting for them to post a limit on Gobies and Asian Carp. Should be any day now!

Well, I guess that all I can say is: that if I ever make an error in judgement be it by incompetance or lack of information, no matter what the reason, I hope that my final days are not judged by some of the responders to this thread. I would never intentionally put my life or the lives of others in jepordy. I would truly hope and pray that if the choice came down to "him or me" the choice would be to save him/her and let me go because I don't think I could live knowing that it cost someone elses life for me to survive. I am so proud of the people that risked their lives to save the lives of others, I'd love to see OFC do something to recognize them. I personally stand and salute them with admeration in my heart. They are truly heros. I am so pleased that no one lost their life through this whole ordeal. Young and old it doesn't matter, life is life. We all get but just one. It is how we choose to use it that matters most! God bless the rescures, he has already blessed the survivors.

We just bought a new stove because our old one was 15+ years and besides, the new one looked pretty. So we did some shopping and found a nice GE gas stove that we both really liked and the price was right. Here is where the fun started. Model number JGB810DEP2WW (trust me, that is exactly what is on the label) Enter into the "find your model" on GE's website; no match found! Now JCB810DEP2WW does come up with the stove except!!!! It describes it as coming with a non stick griddle. (trust me, ours isn't non stick). Now a little further digging and looking for an owners manual (which didn't seem to come with the stove) and I find a website for GE manuals. Type in the JCB number, no such number. Try the JGB number bingo but griddle is cast iron. Now 64 pages later I am still printing off the owners manual for the stove. OK, cost me a fortune in ink but saved them a few cents in printing costs. I would have really preferred the non stick griddle, cast iron and pancakes just don't seem to work as well but maybe I'm just doing it wrong LOL.

I have had the pleasure of seeing some of his custom work! he built a rod for me for a very special friend some years ago. Truly beautiful and functional creations. While I do have two very beautiful custom rods that were given to me as gifts over the years I do not have one of his but someday, I will!

Sue and I were out on Lake O when that storm hit. Everything was beautiful and the forecast was for it to stay that way then within minutes the sky changed color, and I headed for shore. We were about 11 miles out in a 14' with a 25 on it. (before you go calling me stupid for even being out there in a 14'). This was a boat desigined for West coast waters and I had easily handled 10'+ waves with it so even though it was small it was desigined to handle rough conditions. We were ok and made it back to shore, unfortunatly others didn't.

Really glad to hear that your friend made it Chuck, Sounds like it could have turned out much worse than it did!

And if we all felt that way wouldn't it be a wonderful world! From the mouths (and actions) of children. How long will it take for adults to listen and learn? Thank you so much for posting this!

I am really sorry you feel that way, you truly have never found yourself in one of those situations where you went "OH crap"! You are driving down the road, it was claer and dry. You suddenly hit a patch of black ice that shouldn't have been there. "OH crap"! You put something on the BBQ, the phone rings, you answer it and get distracted. Next thing you know the BBQ is on fire and close to setting everything within easy range on fire "OH crap"! People in their right mind don't go out there to put their or anyone elses live at risk but sometimes "OH crap" happens. Cut these people some slack and I truly hope you never find yourself in an "OH crap" situation but if you do, I hope there is a HERO there to give you another chance!

hey wiskey, Sunday over across lake X (we'll drive around) +14 light winds if you are interested, give me a call.

Kudos just doesn't seem like enough does it? They risked their lives to save others, I think HEROS, each and every one of them! None of us go out there thinking "I'm going to go get myself into trouble and see how long it takes to rescue me" do we? We go out there thinking we are safe, have taken all the necessary precautions or unless we have a death wish we wouldn't go. Suddenly you find yourself in a situation where you underestimated/overestimated a situation and you could be fighting for your life. If you survive it's usually because of heros and people call you stupid. If you don't survive some people still seem to like to call you stupid! It is way too easy to judge someone else isn't it?

That is the stupidest response I have ever heard! I truly hope you never make an error in judgement! But after reviewing some of your responses I think that is inevitable!

Lindsay was clear, Sturgeon Lake getting the biggest blizzard we've seen all winter!

Been there and done that many times my friend, it is part of who we are I think, we don't like to let anyone down and always try to give 110% in anything we do. The most important thing is to find a balance that works for you. If you continue to push yourself too hard you are going to end up sick which won't help you or the company. The biggest thing that I have found that helped me get through some of those situations was to prioratize. I make three piles; NOW, ASAP, and when/if I get a chance. Everything that comes in goes to the bottom of the appropriate pile. If you manage to get through the NOW pile, the ASAP file becomes the now pile etc. Always start at the top of a pile and finish dealing with each item as you come to it.

I actually won 4 of them in a radio phone in contest by knowing the answer to that question. Just thought I'd share LOL.

Starting to see some holes opening up here on Sturgeon Lake too. We had to have our huts off by the first, probably a good thing too. I don't think I'd be running my ATV across the lake anymore this year. Be safe up there guys!

Whats the best way to slow my boat down for trolling?
Big Cliff replied to coreyhkh's topic in General Discussion
I just tie a rope to my fishing partner and throw them overboardit really slows you down when heading toward open water (well for a little while). -
Well, since Beans was too slow to respond!
-
What do you mean "in the foreseeable future"? Beans and I go on patrol whenever we get the chance, sometimes it just "DEPENDS"! LOL (Oh, and you wouldn't want to tick us off, we are too short tempered to put up a fair fight)!

They don't like bucksaw blades either and if cut close enough to the ground and covered with leaves a stump is almost invisable except to the trained eyeand even then for only a short time.

OK, where is Beagledad when we need him? He is a locator and would know the answer to this right away. Hold tight until he chimes in. If he hasn't by tomorrow, I'll put a call into him.

4:30 in the morning; I'm usually up and enjoying my first cup of coffee of the day while I sit here and catch up on the news, check on the weather reports and wait for the sun to rise. Now, if I had a buddy that was up, had a can of worms, and wanted to go fishing, I'd skip the coffee, the news, and the weather report.

I just don't understand how down and desperate someone has to be to steal from others like that. Would be nice to see them caught! Did you file a police report?
