marked a lot of fish in the 14-16' range but couldn't get them to hit no matter what I tried. They were all suspended at about the 8' mark. Could have been bait or crappie waiting to move to thwe shallows. Give me a call later 705-928-8899 and we'll exchange information.

Got a Princecraft 164 WS, with a 60 Merc on it. Nice boat, good ride on smoothe water but a rough ride on anything more than about a 1' chop. A little under powered for 4 adults, but an excellent package for fishing/taking the wife for a ride. The walk through windshield with the optional raised platform for the forward casting deck is a nice option. Even with the 60 on it, I have to use a drift sock to slow myself down to trolling speed for walleye, the option would be to add a kicker but there isn't a lot of room on the transom to do that. It is a very stable boat and two people can fish it very comfortably, three people comfortably, 4 people can fish it. I do love mine because it is perfect for what I want but that is the key, make sure that what ever package you select is the one that is going to accomodate 90% of your fishing needs. Getting a package that is over kill is just going to cost you money.

That is so cool Bernie! Does he ever come down to the Kawartha's?
-
In the past week water temperatures (at a lake somewhere in the Kawartha's) has dropped almost 12°. This will have set the fishing back to about normal for this time of the year. I have a report from a buddy that he checked out another spot where there is normally an early bite but he didn't get a single hit. Not sure what that means, could be that the run is late or has already passed. Could simply be that he is a lousy fisherman but I know better! Reports from other boats have been that the catching is way below normal for this time of the year. Not a single "white bucketer" has been charged with over their limit yet. I think I am going to start trailering my boat to a few other lakes because Things sure are slow where I am!

So the answer is to never post anything related to fishing on this site again! As I said, Point Taken! -

Well, it wasn't the beautiful warm sunny temperatures we'd been having all week and the ENE wind was clipping along pretty good, there were plenty of big white caps out there but I had planned to go fishing and fishing I was going! (the older I get the more stuborn I seem to be LOL) Gareth decided to join me this morning, Sean opted to stay in bed (he had a good reason but we won't go there, his mother might read this thread) so we headed to a favorite spot on the lake to see if we might be able to entice a few crappies into the live well (those of you who know me will know where I went). Well, saddly, that wasn't to be, the water temperature was only 51.0° which is still too cold to get them active. We did manage to get several nice bluegill and some decent perch but not one single crappie. To top it all off, there were at least 12 of us fishing there already (I can remember when if you saw another boat it was a special occasion). Anyway, the final tally was several mid size perch, one large sunfish, and about 6 rather nice blue gills. Not a bad morning fishing by any standard.

Well, I hope you got everything you wanted for your birthday! Wishing you all the very best!

Yes, well at least part of it is. We have two young collage students staying with us and one of them very kindly gave me a hand last evening and we put the first section in (enough to launch the boat LOL) The other two sections will come when the water is warmer.

Most stupid thing you've heard while fishing,
Big Cliff replied to Dave Bailey's topic in General Discussion
I was fishing in Bobcaygon one time, up streem of the bridge (when you could still fish there) I hooked into a big carp using about 6# test line (wasn't fishing carp LOL). Anyway this carp decides to head down stream under the bridge. No problem, I had lots of line. This very nice little Asian guy comes over from the down stream side of the bridge and looks at me and says "we have conflict, you tangled up with my fish"! LOL. Seems the carp on my line had run down under the bridge, under his line, so he thought it should now be his fish. I solved it quuite easily, I just cut his line for him -
Don't worry Mike, once my boat goes in the water spring is official!!!!! Even the big guy upstairs wouldn't have the heart to pull it back on me!

You know where By this weekend I think our secret spot should be starting to produce, we need that 58-62°. It's getting close!

Well, the ice finally went out of our little bay on Tuesday, so last night I decided to put the boat in and take a little tour. Boat started like it had been running yesterday and everything worked just the way it should. There is still plenty of ice out on the main body of the lake but Goose Bay is clear of ice. Water temperature seemed to be in about the 54° range for the most part. It was a short trip and I didn't get to wet a line but I am hoping to change that tonight.

Can you believe it? They sent my income tax return form back to me! In response to question # 4, "Do you have any dependants?" I replied - "2.1 million illegal immigrants, 1.1 million crack heads, 4.4 million unemployable people, 901 thousand people in over 85 prisons, and 650 idiots in Parliament. Apparently, this was NOT an acceptable answer. Who the hell did I miss?

Oh for christ sake wake up! We've been getting ripped off for years and not just with the gas. Try tobacco, food, booze, medication hell, they even tax tolit paper! They tell us this is a democroacy, bull! A democrocy is just a dictatorship with many heads. When I have to work more than 50% of my time to support the people that run our country, when the politicians make 5 or 6 times what the average person does, when they get pensions (paid for by us) that exceed anything we could ever hope to see. Ya, there is no price fixing, and we have a democrocy here, we really get to elect the people that have our best intrests at heart!. And I say it again; BULL!!!!!!!!

My heart goes out to you. They truly do hold a special place in our hearts.

Well, I am learning! found a bunch of links on how to season cast iron so decided to give it a try. I guess the biggest mistake I was making was that I used vegetable oil, apparently a real no no. So I cleaned everything again and started from scratch. The end result was that when I did my pancakes this morning they slid off the griddle (not quite like snot on a doorknob LOL) but as slick as from any non stick pan I've ever used! Thanks again guys for all your help!
-
Ya, well if you lived near me, I'd be known as REALLY Big Cliff and the reason would be obvious! LOL
-
Thanks Paul. I can assure you that there is no teflon coating on this griddle but it is reversible. I will admit that I really like the stove!

The link please! ?

No Bud, you really don't want to know how I really feel. I come from an era where your word was your bond. A written contract was something that could be broken but your word, never! If you said I will, you did! A man held the door for a lady because that what a real man did, family came first, and death before dishoner wasn't just something you said to impress the girls! I'm old, sometimes I get cranky but one thing that will never change is; I love the people that love others, I would give my life willingly for anyone on this board that would also do the same for others, and I undersrtand that no one is as perfect as my dog thinks I am!
-
And you know what makes them so special? There is a heart in every one of them!
-
Sorry bud, perhaps they did, but probably not. I guess I am so tired of fighting for what I feel is fair and right that I am finally getting worn down. This wasn't probably a good place to post this!
