Blackberry...... the fat lady sung! In all seriousness, I hope they take of again with their newest offering. It is nice to see a Canadian company do well! I dropped blackberry some years ago when they just couldn't compete with the new platforms. I tried android, and have settled on apple. They are just so user friendly! If the new blackberry is just as user friendly and useful as an iPhone, I would definately go with them next time a hardware upgrade is required, which will be when my iPhone cacks!

Not for me, but interesting reading none the less! Thanks for posting it!

I would definately look into it! I had my renewed 3 year card within a couple of weeks!

Ain't that the truth!

Does Buoy O Buoy still make suits? Mine is close to 20 years old, but still floats well and I check it every year, seems to me the price was much cheaper than the mustangs years ago and it's certainly served me well!! Might be worth a look?

When my wife was in school, I left a small leech pail that I used to use for pinhead shiners in the fridge at her apartment near Calender Bay as I used to drive up and fish on my days off (of course I was spending quality time with her as well lol) Unfortunately the lid didn't lock very well. I headed out to go in for work, and was coming back 2 days later because I had some time booked off work, I figured why waste the bait! Well, in my absence she grew disgusted with the pail in the fridge, decided to remove it and that's when the lid fell off! All over the kitchen floor and they all did the flop! Needless to say I had a very warm welcome on my return!!

I have been a steelheader for over 25 years. I went through a fly rod evolution..... It sucks! And it's much harder to catch fish!! It does make you feel good for a bit, even makes you feel more "evolved" than the average angler.... Didn't take me long to realize that it's an inefficient way to catch fish, and that I was no more evolved than the average bait fisherman, cept my nose was slightly higher in the air. I have nothing against guys who want to do it, so long as they have no expectation that I will move so they can "rotate through" a hole. If they want to sit on a rock and smoke cigars and drink from a flask while I pound fish, and they comment on how barbaric my methods are... That's ok with me though!!

Buy yourself a float rod and reel instead, and spend time catching fish instead of worrying if the other anglers will rotate the pool with you..... They won't!

Yes that is a good deal if the motor is in the condition it appears!

You can get a little candle lantern that will hang from the top of your tent. They warm the tent a fair bit, but I wouldn't recommend sleeping with it lit due to the potential to burn down your tent. They are pretty safe though! Won't help much at -40 though, lol! Good luck!

That 25 in the classifieds looks like it has been rode hard and put away wet! Buy yourself a compression test kit and have lots of patience! You will definately find something, but it takes a bit of time!! I have come across several excellent used motors, but it always takes a bit of time to find the right one. One rule of thumb that I have found to be almost universally true is that if it looks beat, it probably is beat!

I have to ask, how is this possible?? Particularily on something that is just recreational, like an internet site. Its not like you have your life wrapped up in this! As for Charlie Wray, I think he has a pretty decent show, although I haven't watched anything other than treehouse for the last 3.5 years and our youngest bundle showed up. All the shows I saw previously where pretty good, and I like his personality as a host. My 2 cents!

It really depends on the boat. My tinny is rated at 20hp, but my Christ I wouldn't want to run it with a 20. With a 15 Evinrude and a full load hunting load and 2 men weighing 225lb each it will do almost 19mph on the GPS. With just me in it the thing flat flies! Other boats have a very deep hull and more displacement and you wouldn't even notice the extra HP. The Yamaha 2 strokes are reliable and light. I would give it a go!

Most volunteer fire departments are anything but these days. They have to pay an hourly wage of some sort because the days of bein given a pager and being told to hop on a truck are long since over. The extra training and intrusion on family life in a halfway busy volunteer fire coverage area causes about a 3 year turn over rate in a lot of departments. The wage is to provide an incentive and aid in retention.

NF What to do if your vehicle goes through ice
porkpie replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
Our family cottage is ice access or trail access only in winter. We do not drive, even for a week. We have 2 large toboggans that ride behind the snow machines. I refuse to take my vehicle on the ice. I have seen too many mishaps over the years. I do agree with you on the float suit in cars thing. If anyone thinks they are getting out with their he man strength in the eventuality that thevehicle went in before they got out a window, is kidding themselves in the extreme. I have a manual inflator as well, and if was going to ride in a vehicle on ice, that would be my choice! -
Finally went and did it! Completed my PAL and hunter ed!

Good luck man! Prepare to open your wallet!! -
If no USPS option is available, I don't deal with US retailers! UPS is the bottom feeder of the shipping world!

I am surprised to hear that folks have had such poor luck with the Nils cutting head. I have had mine for many seasons now, with thousands of holes cut and it is running strong! It is a 6 inch. I don't let others use it though, and the guard goes on as soon as I am done drilling! It is actually the auger that caused me to give up my gas auger. I find I can fit most anything I need to through a 6 inch hole, although I don't fish lakers a whole lot anymore, I am sure a real hog would give me trouble! Anyway... Different strokes! At $50 I am going to see if my local Costco has any on sale! I could always use a backup!!

While I am a much accomplished liner when I really need Chinook roe, I would love to have one of those strapped onto an 8 foot Muskie rod wih 80lb braid and a small tuft of fat yarn draped over the hook and proceed to walk up and down past the SIMMs mafia in september and asking each and every one of them how's the fishing..... Good times!!

Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show "Postponed"
porkpie replied to Rich Clemens's topic in General Discussion
Short version. We can't believe how many companies bailed, and totally misjudged the impact this would have on our bottom line. OOPS! Looks good on them! -
Brand new antique lures!! Coolest Christmas gift!!

That is an unbelievable score!! -
Although I really loath to get into thisconversation again, I think he point has so obviously been missed that I ought to. At no time was I comparing firearms to fishing. Merely describing the art of divide and conquer, as it seems to have escaped everyone. The example of the bait fisherman and the fly fisherman was merely to point you in the direction of how antis use the technique by pitting those within the same community against each other. In our case, the hunters where left alone with their hunting arms, and told "we only want those nasty "assault style guns". When they had them either restricted or prohibited, they then began campaigning to have semi auto duck guns and beloved semi auto deer guns like the remington 11-87 and the 7400 restricted or banned. One only has to look to Australia if you want examples. Here we have managed to beat them back, and set their confiscation plans back, by hunters and sport shooters ( you know the black gun guys) combining efforts, funds and political will. The lesson has been learned in "our" community, except apparently by a few, who probably never put any time or money into the fight anyway. For the most part, it's unlikely divide and conquer will work again with the gun guys, because we know once they have the black guns, they will be comig for the wood and blued ones too! That is all the reference of bait fishing/ fly fishing was getting at. Because mark my words, P3TA would try to use that against the fisherman. What better ally than one within the community your trying to work against!
