  1. Buddy is lucky he had a jeep. Just pull the carpet to dry and the drain plugs but Geez what an idiot going out there.
  2. Thanks for replies guys. I see most recommend a tent. I've done it for years with my buddies camping out in the bush and camping on islands. This is to roughing it for my wife. She wants some at home comforts like a bed and table and the feeling of something more then some canvas between her and a curious bear. I'm leaning towards a tent trailer and deck out my 12' to make more comfy. We just love taking the top off our jeep and go for a ride to the lake.
  3. Yes the titans only can do 1400lb. I was going to add new shocks and add a leaf and still be very selective with a slide in. I want it light for the bush and the weight of the boat on the back plus gear.those light slide in are hard to find and are pricey. Tent trailers are all over the place. I've thought of doing the train. It wouldn't be bad down the highway but ohhh god if I had to back that thing up it would be a cluster for sure! I really like the roof tents that drifter posted but man they are expensive for a jeep. Said and done after tent, roof rack, ladder etc it's $2000
  4. Chris.brock. I've heard of other people hating tent trailers. What's so horrible about them? Set up and take down? I figure if it rains I'd have to reopen it at home to air out.
  5. I've thought of ideas like that. But it would get quite heavy and dragging that thing into remote lakes. I know the jeep won't do it with only a 3000lb tow rating but my titan could. I've also thought about buying old campers for $100-500 drag them into remote lakes and take the tires off ta da I have camps all over the country side haha.
  6. 97.9 here in the sault.
  7. I'm already thinking about soft water season. I plan on getting out to the bush to fish more with my wife and take the dogs. I want to buy a camper but not sure what direction I should take. I was thinking of a couple different setups. 1. My 2004 nissan titan older not quite as reliable anymore and buy a slide in camper for it and then I can tow my comfy 16' boat with 25hp. 2. My 2012 jeep wrangler and buy a tent trailer but I'd be limited to my uncomfortable 12' boat on top of the camper 3. My jeep with some form of tent bushing it but have my comfy 16' that I can tow with the jeep. What would be the ideal setup? Basically get comfy fishing for a uncomfortable sleep or sleep comfortable with uncomfortable fishing? Opinions?
  8. Where are you located? I'm only getting 500mb per day and paying $73
  9. Pau dash which plan do you have? What's your daily limit?
  10. I've had xplornet for around 5 years and really it's not that bad. It works perfect for Web surfing, emails, and even watching videos. The only downer is download limits suck so it's pointless to get something like netflix. Also make sure the dish is clear of snow and signal can be lost during snow and rain storms.
  11. That is definitely a splake. I fished multiple splake lakes and they all looked exactly like that.
  12. Sewage would be a composite toilet and I'm in the sault no going to Kawartha lakes. If I have it as a pontoon boat moving would be simple just pull up anchor and drive away park in the next bay. Also winter probably wouldon't be easy getting frozen in or frozen to the ground then trying to move a structure of that size with a snowmobile. I definitely would not want to drag it in and out every spring and fall. I'd pull into places you didn't think a truck would go haha this guy isn't a fair of branch scratches on my truck and I wouldn't build it pretty enough to worry about scratches on the house boat
  13. Ya I looked into the show and it's a bunch of b.s they are in the harbour of town. I'm thinking of doing it on a remote lake with crown land all around and use it as a camp. Build it on say a ponton boat base or floating dock. If you don't like the area move spots on the lake or even trailer it to a different lake. Even use it as a ice shack in the winter. This guy here did a restoration on something I sort of in vision buildinghttp://s466.photobucket.com/user/Bamby38/slideshow/?albumview=slideshow
  14. So I started watching this silly new show ice lake rebels where people live on house boats on great slave lake. I thought of the idea before to build a camp like some of their floating shacks. Ive always wanted to have my own camp but never wanted to be restricted to a small land area. If I built a small floating cabin and put it on small in land lakes what would the regulations be? I know camp sites you can only be there 21 days and to build a cabin you need a land lease. So on water, is there a catch? Would the ministry be all over me? I'd build it small enough to still be somewhat mobile transport lake to lake but I wouldnt want to do the move to often.
  15. I've had xplornet for almost 5 years now. Cell service is about 1km from my house. You need some type of cell service for one of those hubs. They have a bit better strength then a regular signal so if you are far from service scratch those off the list. Xplornet speed is not bad you can stream youtube videos fine and regular Internet surfing is fine. I only have 500mb for daily useage, really not much usage for anything like Netflix.also during any rain ir snow storms signal is lost which is times when you want to use it haha.also the dish needs to be cleared of snow and ice or you will lose signal to.it costs $74 a month after taxes what not. If anybody has anything better can you let me know. Oh and I'm in the sault ste.marie area if that makes a difference.
  16. I'm from the sault and I got the ticket in sudbury. I would assume the officer wouldn't show up in the sault for a speeding ticket.
  17. So I was driving from sault to sudbury and I made a mistake and broke the speed limit and got caught. I know I'm an idiot, kicking myself in the butt. Now should I be fight the ticket? Ive always heard that if the officer isn't present they rip up the ticket. Any truth to this? Cause you know he won't be showing up in the sault. But if it's that easy then everyone would be speeding in different towns. Looking for some advice thanks
  18. Awesome thanks guys!
  19. I was just going to remove it and keep things simple. 206 you can have it if you pay the shipping.
  20. I just bought a used minn kota bow mount trolling motor. Ive never had one before and only had transom mount minn kotas. The new to me motor has a 3 prunge plug. Can I just cut it off and hook it up like a regular cheap minn kota with wing nuts to the battery?
  21. Joey tier is correct. Just about every river from the sault to wawa and beyond will be holding fish. there is always parking along side the rivers some more sketchy then others for getting stuck. There are also lakes along side of the highway in the lake superior provincial park past pancake. Now if you were to bring a boat/canoe there are some good inland lakes in the area but aren't very fishable from shore. The trails in can also be sketchy and not very car friendly.
  22. thats great i really like it! i thought about getting a fish tattoo but never came up with a good idea. i hope to get some new ink soon. i got a half sleeve figured out but its going to be more "family" then fishing.
  23. i installed the 1500sqft englander pellet stove from canadian tire. What a pile of junk! i installed it with the pipe kit directly out the wall. Got it WETT certified and i ran it for about a month until it smoked back. My wife was at home and she called and said theres smoke coming out of the pellet stove and i was like you may get a bit of smoke not a big deal and shes like NO theres smoke coming out of the pellet stove!!! She took a picture and send it to me and the whole room was filled with smoke. i told her to grab the dogs and get the heck out of the house. I raced home taking me about 20minutes by the time i got home my entire house was filled with smoke. Thinking back it was probably a bad idea but i covered my face with a shirt and i ran in, booted the pipe off and dragged the sucker outside and pushed it off my deck. Thank god i work for a restoration company and i have access to the proper equipment and chemicals to get rid of the stinky burn pellet smell out of the house or i'd have a major insurance claim on my hands. NEVER will i buy another pellet stove they are terrible. No wonder why insurance companies aren't insuring people. i'd get a gas fireplace for back there or see if you can find a little better "energy efficient" electric heaters like the convect air convention heater.
  24. When i was there i took a small plane over the dam and the canyon it as around $100 a head. You could see boats in the canyon that looked like ants and couldn't really grasp the true size of it. I'd recommend spending the extra money and do the helicopter for $300 they land down in the canyon and they provide a lunch with champagne. you leave at around 9am and back by about 3pm and you still get all evening to enjoy your time without wasting 2 days driving around in the boonies. remember in vegas you can drink anywhere like on the street, in a cab, even in the mall. i felt like julian from trailer park boys carrying around a rum and coke when my wife shopped for clothes at the big fashion mall lol. The only place i found where i wasn't allowed to drink was in city hall getting my marriage license haha they told me i either had to toss my beer or go outside and finish it. One thing i noticed about vegas is everyone seemed to be having a good time. nobody was fighting everywhere i went it just seemed like a good atomsphere. And you dont have to gamble. i sat down at the slots to see if they would actually give me free drinks and they did. i got served 2 drinks while playing the penny slots and spend $4. Also you HAVE to go to BLT burger in the mirage. best burger you'll ever eat.
  25. i've never really seen or heard of people fishing small rivers/creeks in the winter. i always wondered why but i assume theres a reason ppl arent lined up on them.
