  1. I believe in 95% of them time you get what you pay for. With rams being the cheapest truck out there you are more then likely paying for what you get. The ram 2500 has the lowest resale in the 3/4 ton market which is good for me because I can afford a good used one. What I want to know is if I should get a 1/2ton and be hard on it or get a 3/4 and what I ask from it do it with ease or look at different brands and options that would suit my needs better.
  2. The Cummins are awesome. They are definitely out of my price range and I don't put on enough miles on to justify buying one.
  3. I'm currently thinking about upgrading to a newer truck. I currently have a 2004 nissan titan. I have a work van I drive Monday-Friday supplied through work. So my truck basically sits all week. I use my truck on the weekends for hunting and fishing, doing side jobs and picking up building material and driving in the winter. I only put 10,000km a year on my truck but when I am using it I'm actually using it has a truck. it never sees the shopping mall. I pull a trailer around 5000lb haul atvs and snowmobiles in the box. I recently test drove a 2014 ram 2500 and I love it. I don't really need a 3/4 ton but I want a real man's truck. I could also go out and get a brand new 2017 ram 1500 for the same price as the 2500. I feel like what I do with my titan is at the max it should do for towing and payload. I feel like the perfect truck is the new titan xd which is a 5/8 ton but it's definitely out my price range. I'm looking around the 30k price. I'm not brand loyal and I don't need all bells and whistles just the basics. Fuel economy is not high on my priority list because of the amount of km I put on a year. So what should I get? Opinions?
  4. Fishing was slow. 2 lakers this size Saturday and I went out for an hour or so Sunday avoiding raindrops and got one more that size. Even though the weather didn't cooperate it was still a good time with the wife.
  5. Hey Dara I didn't get mine on queen st but I did see it on Kijiji. I got mine out in heyden. It's like identical. I really put it to the test this last weekend going up into mashagama going through wash outs and bouncing it off rocks.
  6. Ya that's what I did for this weekend. I put my atv in the box of the truck and tossed all my junk on the camper cargo deck and it did make a difference. But ya I want to correct the problem so I can haul it with the atv on the deck so I can put my junk under my tonneau cover to keep it out of the elements. I'm pretty sure my work has a weight distrubtion hitch. I might borrow and see if that does the trick.
  7. Exactly all the weight goes on the tongue. What do I do to help get weight off the truck?
  8. Hi guys, I just bought a 2006 jayco baja tent trailer. I loaded it up with my 4wheeler on the front deck and I have Wayyy to much weight on the tongue of the truck. It just about bottoms out my truck. Would a weight distrubtion hitch help enough? Or what else can I do? I have a 2004 nissan titan. https://www.jayco.com/tools/archive/2006-baja-ct Theres the specs I have the 10y. My 4wheeler weighs 700lbs.
  9. There's currently a decent sale on the cabelas American website. I'm also deciding between the regular 2500 cables and the angler/guide wear inflatables
  10. There's a cheaper tablet model stays dry even in heavy down pours but once submerged for 2 seconds it dissolves and sets it off. There's the more expensive hydrostatic that works by water pressure. I'm trying to figure out what would be more reliable/safe. I swim like there's blocks tied to my ankles and I always wear my life jacket and want something more comfortable. I would think all life jackets are designed to keep your head out of the water. And I know lots of guys that are like I'm good I can swim... ya ok there bud!
  11. I'm looking into getting an auto inflatable life jacket. What's better the dissolving tablet or the hydrostatic? I'm looking at the cabelas brand. Do you get what you pay for?
  12. I'm going mid august so less bugs lol. He only has 1 other week available in July. It has to be booked up for a reason.
  13. Hi guys, I just booked a fishing trip through five mile lake lodge to go to their outpost cabin on wenebegon. Has anyone fished this lake before? Has one gone to this outpost before? Suggestions/recommendations/tips thanks
  14. Ya sure I'll just survey all the land for others lol. I have the garmin etrex 20 with the Garmin canada topo maps. Just trying to find out if the backroad is with spending the $150
  15. I downloaded that free one for an older gps and I really didn't like them. I currently have garmin topo canada maps
  16. Ya the backroad map books are like that. Gives you just a general idea of lakes and what's in them. Same goes with the fish online site from the ministry. For $150 I'd hope it's a lot more detailed and better info then both products.
  17. I have a handheld gps and the maps are just mehhh. Does anyone have the backroad map ontario? Is it worth the pricey $150? I plan on using it for atving, finding lakes and fishing.
  18. Ya I just found an extension on the polaris website for the polaris tracks and plow. Lexington is your 4wheeler the sportsman 450?
  19. I unfortunately don't have a garage yet just a large shed and a lean to for now. I bought a 2003 polaris rmk 700 8 years ago for $2000. I drove it for 3 years and sold it for $2500 thinking I'd buy something newer and well life got in the way and didn't buy another sled until last winter. I bought a beater that I don't trust one bit. Now years later I can't find a 03 rmk for under $2500 the prices of sleds have sky rocketed. My atv is a brand new reliable machine and which is why I was thinking tracks for it. I plan on keeping the wheeler for many years so tracks seems like a good investment. Although I was searching the depths of the Internet and ppl are saying a plow won't fit with tracks on so I'm feeling stumped right now.
  20. The new 450 is actually a 570 tuned for lower end torque. Not sure what's more important torque or hp. And ya I can do about 50-55mph with tires and I figured I'd go probably half that speed. There's newer style set for sale locally for $2500
  21. I have a 2016 polaris sportsman 450. I was thinking of getting a set of tracks for it. Track companies are claiming you can get tracks for atvs down to 300cc and they are suppose to run fine when geared properly. I only get out ice fishing 4-5times a year and insurance for my old beater sled being around $400 for the year doesn't seem worth it $100 a trip. I read online that they are super slow but unstoppable and I don't care to win any races. And that the tracks clog up with slush and ice. Can't you just chip it out like a sled? So continue paying insurance on my beater or get a set of tracks? I plan on picking up a used set. Ppl are asking around $2500 used.
  22. That's kinda what I was thinking. If anything won't I be able to go faster since it'll glade on top of the water inside of cut through the water?
  23. Ya there's not alot close to pancake unless you try a river or to. I'd keep going and camp in the park like others have said
  24. I just picked up a brand new 3.5hp mercury and it's a beauty little motor. I currently have a friends 12' that he never uses(wife is against fishing lol poor guy) but I want a boat to call my own. I see Jon boats are very cheap brand new and I like the idea of a flat bottom but I read they are horrible in chop. I fish only inland lakes in the sault area and probably the biggest lake I'll fish is wakami. Are Jons fine if I get into a bit of wind? Or just get a vhull? If I go the vhull route I want a light weight one I can use as a "car topper" and for a decent price. What are your recommendations
  25. Sounds like your heading to ernies. When are you going? I'm heading up there first thing tomorrow morning unfortunately I'm headed there for work. Ken is a super nice guy and I'm sure he'll send you in the right direction. Last time I was up Ken didn't have a boat available for me. This time I told him he better have a boat for when I'm done work. I used the search button on this foru, and everyone on here says it's a tough lake but you can get on fish. So we'll see.
