  1. It pales in comparison to the hey days of the mid 80's when nearly 4X as many fish were put through there each spring.
  2. He meant Spey. Spay is what you do to your dog or cat so's they cain't haves babies.
  3. The first year I fished in Alaska we were fishing the Kenai just below Skilak Lake. We pulled into the drift and i was using a 15' float rod with my center pin and some red neck rube from Alabama or some other Southern state says to his buddy "He's using one of them thar spy rods!!!".
  4. The people who think pike stop biting because they lose their teeth!!!
  5. It will be fine. It's an extremely well made boat and it is rated for 125 or 130. It has several braces tying the transom to the spashwell and the floor of the boat. The 9.9 ends up being carried by the side of the boat more so than the transom. Here's a transom shot of the old girl. You can see the two spashwell braces and the bolts where they attach to the transom. There are matching braces underneath the splashwell that attach to the floor striners/bracing. Oh yeah, I have my original bill of sale in with the other documents that came with the boat.
  6. A 90 would be a little on the small side. I would go at least 115 if you can swing the $$$$$. My 18 footer is rated for a 125 and I went 90 which runs it pretty decent but I will be upgrading to a 115 next year. I cruise at 27mph with the 90 and max out at 35-36 mph with it. I'm hoping to cruise at about 32-34 with the new motor while using 50% less fuel.
  7. I'm anticipating I will be in a boat fishing open water next Wednesday!!! Sure it won't be here but who cares!!!!! Open water fishing starts in late May up here. They're calling for lows in the mid -30's the next few days.
  8. That's why I live in the North and make my power by burning old tires and heat my home by feeding bunnies into my wood stove!!!!! :tease:
  9. They also have the highest mark up as well.
  10. Don't forget your water wings just in case!!!!
  11. There's a reason I hang on to my 20 year old Fisher. When I bought it in 1991 it cost me $20K back then!!!! Replacement today would be twice that!!! 2013 I plan to repower the old girl. Out with the 22 year old 2 stoke 90hp and in with a 2013 4 stroke 115hp and a new 9.9 kicker!!! :clapping:
  12. It's what Sigmund wears under his dress!!!! :tease:
  13. FYI: That's not winter. See post above for what winter actually looks like!!! :tease:
  14. got a bunch of decent fish so far. Still have at least another month and a half of ice fishing to go up here but next week I'm off to Florida for 10 days of chasing tarpon!!!!
  15. Yep, palomar knot for terminal connections and double uni for joining to mono or flouro leaders.
  16. I would scuff it up with some fine sandpaper to get the best bond.
  17. OH YEAH!!!! Well I'll post backgrounds if I want to and there isn't a darn thing you can do aboot it!!!! :tease: 60°29′26″N 149°47′40″W
  18. Nothing more than an envelope and a stamp.
  19. Give me your address and I can send you some closed end blind rivets if you like. The pin does not go all the way through them. I have these in stainless steel. Sealed Blind Rivets
  20. Just form a piece of aluminum to fit the area.
  21. What ^^^^ said. Drill 1/8" hole at each end of the crack to stop it from spreading, fashion a patch to fit over the area (with a decent amount of overlap (1/2" or so)), use a goodly amount of 3M 4200 or 5200 (slow cure, fast cure) and apply the patch. Fasten with rivets and allow sealer to cure. It will not leak again.
  22. Paulus You can get decent shots with a point and shoot. You can even get the jumping troot pictures if you set your camera on burst mode. DSLR's are very good picture taking machines however and if with practice you can ake spectacular photos. I have been meaning to get one as I used to shoot some awesome pics with my old SLR film camera.
