Doesn't take much to bust a shear pin. One piece of gravel caught in the auger will do it. I have a bunch of spare shear pins in stock just because. My driveway is gravel and early in the season I usually go through one or two before the ground freezes hard and a bit of a snow base builds up. And no you don't want to use a bolt as you run the risk of destroying the transmission should another jam occur.

I'm partial to Frabill huts myself. The Thermal Commando would be the 1 man you would want in their line. If you are going to be hand pulling you will want to build yourself a Smitty Sled to make the job easier. You are not going to heat them with a candle unfortunately but they do hold the heat better and will also cut down on the dripping off the roof. I don't have dripping problems as it's too freaking cold!!!! I end up with frost over almost the entire inside of my non-insulated 2 man hut.

He very well could have bought it new in 2013, so it may be misleading using the model #/year. Does he have the original bill of sale? Also if it is in fact older you did agree on a price based on the condition. If you agreed to a price you must think it's worth that price, no? Couldn't hurt to bring up your concerns though.

I build mine from cut down solid fiberglass saltwater blanks. They are IMHO the best big laker and pike rod around.

Here are a couple that get good reviews. Zebco has been around forever in the spincast reel market. I use Tuf-Line Duracast for my cold weather fishing. It is coated and sheds water much better than non coated lines. Been using the same line for 3 or 4 winters now and it still performs well.

Cliff in government terms surplus means end of life or gear/products/assets that have been replaced by current/new items. For instance when we replace computer equipment here @ the college it goes to the GNWTs surplus warehouse where it is either used in another department or donated to those in need. If the equipment is not usable it is sent to be recycled. In the past equipment has been donated to schools in Mexico so the under privileged children can use it for learning purposes. In the case of this arctic gear it may have been replaced by newer gear and thus has become obsolete. Rather than throw it out it has been donated. The first Monday of every month here in Yellowknife there is a sale open to the public of surplus goods that have not been donated or recycled. Everything from chairs and desks to printers and computers is available depending on current stock.

170 KMs on a hard packed lake is pretty scary but 120 in waist deep power is pretty relaxing.

Under inflated Matt. Check the PSI rating on the sidewall of the tire and inflate to that pressure. My snowmobile tires are 55 PSI and my popup camper tires are 65 PSI. Under inflating wears the outside edges while over inflating will wear out the middle.

That is a wicked deal you got. It goes pretty good too!!! I have chickened out riding my Yamaha @ 105 on hard pack. It was still pulling when I let out of it. Have been able to get 85 out of it in virgin waist deep powder though.
