  1. I still remember a camping trip to Algonquin with my friend and his family when I was a young lad. Met a neat old fella that was up from Ohio and he was camping/fishing and trapping snapping turtles. He showed me what he was doing and told me they were very good eating. Interesting the people you meet during your life that leave an impression. This fella was a judge back in the states. That was 40 some odd years ago.
  2. I wouldn't bother welding it. Just doubler, extra rivits and sika flex or 3M 5200 between doubler and inside of hull to seal it all up properly.
  3. So it takes 3 weeks. You probably still won't have put you boat in the water by then anyway!!!!
  4. It is still possible you have a crappy fuel line. The layers tend to separate and the lines collapse on the inside due to ethanol degradation.
  5. Don't forget a generous amount of skiaflex or 3m 5200 between the hull and doubler. Should be a pretty easy fix.
  6. I changed from those type To Scotty Orca rod holders. They did have 3 in stock at CT a few weeks ago but they have since been sold. You would have to order them in. http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/scotty-orca-rod-holder-black-0780325p.html#.VZNC4vlVjUc
  7. When I upgraded from a 2 stroke 90 to 115 4 stroke I had the same issues. I ended up moving my 2 group 27 deep cycle TM batteries forward and solved my problem. I repuropsed the forward live well for battery holding duty as it never gets used for anything.
  8. My Merc really works much better with the 4 blade than 3 blade prop. Get up on plane in a boat length and it grips more water so I'm able to trim it up higher raising the nose more and running on the pad. I gained about 4MPH on the top end. Unfortunately I dinged it on a rock last week so I'm back to the 3 blade until late in the year when I can get it repaired. Going to have to get me a second 4 blade me thinks.
  9. When I went from 3 blade 17" pitch to 4 blade 17" pitch on my Merc 115 my trolling speeds stayed the same. 1.9-2.2 MPH @ 700 RPM. I can get down to about 1.5 MPH by cutting back my RPMs to 550 using Merc's troll control system on my smart craft guages. Yesterday I needed to drop down even slower as I was power jigging in 70' for lakers and just used my 80# Minnkota with copilot. Was trolling between .6 and 1.5 MPH depending on what I wanted to do (highest speed I used on the TM was 3 yesterday). Steering was done with the remote and auto pilot. Smacked a bunch of good fish too!!!! PS. I also have a drift sock in the boat for those times it's needed.
  10. Leafs mad a minor deal today for Zach Hyman and conditional 7th round pick in 2017. They traded Greg Mckegg to Florida. http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=771511
  11. Or you could go around since you can see it.
  12. Here's a nifty little camper I came across today. Not much in the way of extra space but you could probably tow it with a Smart Car!!!
  13. It was exactly one year ago today that it happened.
  14. I plan to. The so called super high wind model. It gets breezy at times in Alaska.
  15. Wierd, I click on the link and it works fine.
  16. All right guys and gals need some signatures on this petition to help out the people of South Barrie and Stroud. Seems a bunch of relief $$$$ were donated to help these folks after the tornadoes last June and the thoughtful Township of Essa hasn't bothered to distribute any of the funds to the people that need it. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/771/944/476/give-angus-and-south-barrie-every-dollar-of-the-relief-money-already/
  17. You can use power steering fluid or transmission fluid to top off your hydraulics. What is the issue you are having? I have repaired a bunch of PT&T units for people over the years. Fixed 2 boats just 2 Saturdays back.
  18. I'll put them on the list of things to get. Too bad I can't order them until after my next trip to Alaska since I have to be there to measure them up.
  19. Yep, in my case I knew it was coming and as soon as it did my next stop was the labour board. The next step was to see the HRDC people about $$$$ for retraining, then I went back to school to become a Sunshine List Employee!!!
  20. When I got screwed over by an old employer I went the the Labour Board and talked with them. They ended up going after the employer and got me a tidy little sum of $$$$.
  21. I'm surprised Joel didn't have the Hawks throw the series if this is what he has to come home too!!! http://www2.tsn.ca/bardown/Story.aspx?Joel%2BQuenneville%27s%2Bhouse%2Bgot%2Bcovered%2Bin%2Btoilet%2Bpaper%2Bby%2Bcelebrating%2Bfans...again&id=544518
  22. What a great Stanley Cup Final!!! Just wish it went one more game.
  23. Pretty much!! I paid $6,500 for mine used but it was only a few years old and in like new condition. I store it in a lot in Alaska and pay about $360 US/year for said storage. But that $360 is less than the extra gas cost to get it there and back.
  24. Doesn't make it less creepy when they are sniffing @ your tent though. Ran into a large bear while exiting the river one day. She ignored me from 10 feet away. Was pretty cool, I'm just glad I wasn't eaten. FYI, she was over 1000#'s according to locals who had seen her.
