  1. At this point I don't believe a word that comes from the WHO. They have screwed the pooch at every opportunity with their "recomendations" And our leaders have followed their suggestions as gospel putting people at risk in the process. All along they have been parroting WHO talking points and not acting in the interests of Canadians. Thankfully they seem to have grown backbones and actually done what was needed to help keep Canadians safe, although in my opinion they were 2 weeks late on all of their decisions because of it. I saw a video showing how far a sneeze or cough can travel in a grocery store. It was quite a bit more than 6 feet. I wear a mask and gloves whenever I go into any store and use hand sanitizer all the time. The one good thing is out Premier here in the NWT closed down our borders to non-NWT people except for truckers and essential traffic as well as closing non-essential businesses, banning gatherings etc. Because of this we have only had 5 cases of the 19 all related to travel. All 5 have recovered so we now have ZERO active cases here.
  2. And he crossed a closed border to get to them.
  3. I quit cold turkey back in 1999. It was rough but what helped me was sucking on extra strength fisherman's friend lozenges. 😁 I don't know why but they helped me. OH, and the fridge will get you!!! Not now, but it will eventually especially after you've been off them darts long enough to get your taste buds working again. Food and drink never tasted so good as when I quit smoking!!! 😂
  4. Or you could just make your own in a pinch.
  5. 😪 https://fishncanada.com/news/2020-great-ontario-salmon-derby-cancelled-due-to-covid-19/?fbclid=IwAR0Y_5UXJRu1FLg03yvvrs3Wm0-ymn12fcAgvMxtaA0z0S0yoybX4DaP9Ss
  6. Finally made it back out to the cabin after a long winter of sickness. Still recovering from a really bad flu bug that hit me hard starting in mid January. No commercially plowed road to the hydro power plant this year. Only privately plowed and somewhat blown in after all the winds we've had. Tons of snow has dropped since the last time I was out at the end of January. The trial was knee to waist deep in places. Got stuck a few times. Got a bunch of packing done. Damn ravens been ripping up my Tyvek again. Back out next weekend.
  7. Finally got things together and was going to the cabin today but there was an issue. I've been battling a fierce flu bug since mid-January and haven't been out but once in January. I guess the battery went flat and froze due to me not plugging the sled in for months and today I went to start it and nada. Even after being plugged in for a couple of days she was dead flat. 😪 Got a new one from CT and it's currently on the bench charging. Maybe I'll get out tomorrow. 🙄 I can't believe that battery only lasted 12 1/2 years. Worthless piece of crap.
  8. Looked at it when I went into the shelter to replace the rims and tires on my snowmobile trailer. Off to the cabin this weekend. Ice road to the diamond mines just closed today. Almost 3 weeks later than normal. Been a cold winter.
  9. Been working from home for the last few weeks due to the Corona's. Seems I can manage more energy fer the cooking when working from my couch all day. 😂 Tonight's dinner was pineapple chicken with Chinese veggies and Canton noodles. Here's a few past dinners. Beef burritos with lettuce and cheese. Spaghetti with meat sauce. Beef stew with baby red taters. Orange ginger chicken stir fry with rice. Ham with scalloped potatoes and baby carrots. A robust bacon cheese burger and fries.
  10. I put a Canadian Tire AGM battery in my Honda Pilot two years ago and will never use a flooded battery again. They work way better in the cold than flooded and no spillage or off gassing. I need to replace my TM batteries and they will be AGM. I'm also planning on using AGM's in my solar power system out at the cabin.
  11. H1N1 was in 2009. Obama had 7 years to replenish the stocks. 7 of his 8 years in office!!!!
  12. USB output is 5 volts. The only way is with a DC to DC step up transformer. Look for one like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Step-up-Power-Module-Converter-Connector/dp/B01L6AJS1E Be aware that the process of up-converting uses extra power so you will get lees available power from your bank to charge the battery. You would be better off with something like this. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/motomaster-eliminator-750a-lithium-ion-booster-pack-and-power-bank-0111906p.html I have one and it outputs 12 volts as well as having a USB port for charging your phone and other small electronics.
  13. Sounds like it has surge brakes. Here's a link to a Ranger 2015 manual. Trailer stuff starts on page 35. The break away cable should be able to be replaced. Might need to dig into it to find out how. https://www.rangerboats.com/content/dam/wrmg-general-assets/web/ranger/owners'-manuals/2015 owners manual alum.pdf
  14. We have idiots here who won't comply either. I know Mike and am dissapointed with him. Hopefully they make an example of him because of this. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/public-health-nwt-reality-tv-1.5513628?fbclid=IwAR2E6BOjrjwwmzHjVFYiUYrK2omQMA_lB1q8IXUJQkdbEZuZ5PH-pCBYblg
  15. I heard today that Plummers has cancelled their 2020 season. 😪
  16. Yes, if you don't have good anti-virus installed it can enter through the C key!!! 😷
  17. There are places in the US that have shut down Rec. fishing.
  18. Andrew After 6 years away from my favorite fishing destination in Alaska I was planning to finally go again this year. I have already cancelled my plans (it was to be September/October) as during the H1N1 pandemic in 2009 I managed to get it and spend most of my vacation locked up in my camper or it might have been tent still at that time. This is much worse and the last thing I want to do is end up getting it. Will be spending all my time at my off grid cabin in the wilds of the NWT where it's safe.
  19. We barricaded our whole territory. Only NWT residents and essential deliveries allowed in. NWT residents have to self isolate for 14 when returning from outside. We still only have 1 confirmed case to this point.
  20. I didn't worry about that because it was in transit for nearly 10 days. Long after the virus can live out in the open. Good thing is I have liters of first run hi test alcohol off my alcohol makin' 'quipment fer disinfecting stuff.
  21. I got an courier delivery yesterday. I wiped down the box with a paper towel soaked with isopropyl alcohol before opening it. Then washed my hands again. I have a box of nitrile gloves and masks in the vehicle.
