  1. yes because they are made to fix a problem and part of the problem of porpoising is not being able to reach top end most people get them because they have trouble get up on plane, therefor lower top end and lower fuel mileage and tabs will get it upon plane, so more speed and better mileage however if you put them on a properly set up boat/motor, they will have lower top end.. again it is always better to fix a problem then mask it
  2. if they are truly needed they are great however, they push down on the water to hold the front of the boat steady so lots of drag = slower top end and more fuel I would try to fix the problem before masking it
  3. When tied. To a dock that is true
  4. Lamp and Ballast Recycling Q&As Ballasts How do I know if a ballast contains PCBs? Typically ballasts that do not contain polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) will be labeled as such. PCBs were discontinued for use in fluorescent ballasts manufactured after 1979. Manufacturers of ballasts and capacitors use distinct catalogue and date codes to identify their product. Interpreting the manufacturer’s codes is crucial in determining whether a ballast contains a PCB capacitor. See Environment Canada’s booklet on ‘Identification of Lamp Ballasts Containing PCBs’ [PDF, 4.4 Mb] for details on what to look for. How do I dispose of ballasts? Ballasts with PCBs and ballasts manufactured pre-1979 without labels should be disposed of as hazardous waste in accordance with government regulations. Newer ballasts manufactured after 1979 can be recycled for scrap metal and copper. PCB ballasts should be sent to a PCB processing facility, where the metals are separated for recycling. Currently, there is only one PCB processing facility in Canada that destroys PCBs: Swan Hills Treatment Center in Alberta. PCB ballasts have to be transported by a Ministry of Environment (MOE) certified carrier. PCB ballasts cannot be burned under any circumstances.
  5. I have never seen a boat porpoising because the trim is down too far to me porpoising means the bow of the boat is lifting too high {by the power ,the angle, height and prop} and continues to lift till the engine can no longer support the lift and it falls and hits the water again it starts to rise and the cycle continues over and over. trim angle down too much and the thing should get up on plane easy but then the bow will plow through the water and will bounce somewhat on each wave if the right size the engine may not reach full rpms
  6. how old is it I think if it's newer then 1980 it does not contain pcbs
  7. yeah
  8. trim tabs would fix it .but try to fix the problem first

  10. If it is really all the way down. Then you have problems I think you need 15deg shims. Between your motor and transom your engine may may be too low. Post photo Change prop or trim tabs dang I hate autocomplete on phones
