That seems like ALOT in a month. I dont have alot of faith in Canadian Doctors,...Try some of the websites,..just google in your conditions and you will find a wealth of info as well as Q&A blogs where real Doctors answer you and other people with the same issues. That could take months going to see a doc. Atleast it will give you an idea of what the possibilities are. It definately sounds like a parasite, however there could be more serious things at work. Personally i like to go see the doc armed with education. it can only help you to suggest things, it makes them look harder. There are aLOT of reason you could be having what you are. First step is get off the fast food, drink more water and well beer is beer, but do what you can to chill out. Where is Dr Salvenius? what kindof doctor is he anyways? Foot? nose and throat? CMON,..you post here daily,..say smthn....or Im gonna start making fun of your little trout pics when you live in the God Given haven of trooooot and should have much better catches lol...seriously Doc, chime in here,...these guys arent alone....

You sure you didn't hook em in the belly...lol, just kidding,...Ive hooked into plenty of 10lb+, but I find they rarley jump at that size,...depends on the water and the temp and time of year I think. As for those notty 3-4lbs, YEAH,...its like a 7-8 lbs+ from Lake O plus they have the acrobatics They get bigger in Novemeber but the Crossbow hunters are also more prevalent
-
Ah,...your talking about construction etc..they have been working on that over there for several years,....i drive by it all the time.....ran into that ourselves on a little trib that dropped 2 feet over night,...same reason,..but smaller scale,...gotta wonder how that affects the fish, where they were plentiful the day before,..and non-exist the next.
-
I personally re-rig every outing and well even more for those slingshot mishaps with trees above, lol. those little nics in your main line from sticks, rocks and any number of things can cause you to lose fish,..removing the shot will for sure weaken your line. I also like to get 20 ft or so of water soaked line off every time I re-rig. just a preference that i find works for me. In fact with regards to the leader, the fish I lost Sunday in wood was on a leader I had already battled a smaller fish plus on bird nested once. Last way I want to see my rig is not top notch is on a big fish lost when it could have been.

Unless that fast water is the only hole out of many on the stretch you are fishing,...you can also adjust how you drift, keep your line tight and rely on the 'feel' of the hit. In my experience the Big fish dont sit in the middle of the rapid,..is the mid to smaller ones,..especially at this time of year when the water is cold enough to hold the O2. Once you have rigged heavier, it is difficult to downsize for the next pool without retying. I would suggest just adding a couple micro's to the leader in rapid section, move your float up. when you are done with it,...you can either retie your leader only or slide the micros up to the swivel and slide you float back down. Make sure when you cast that your bait lands directly down stream from you float. this is always important, but utmost in fast water.

Weird for this time of year, although I know there was a late run with all the rain a couple weeks ago,..those guys musta been locked from moving up. anyways,..no matter what anyone says,..I love playin with chnnies too and it goes without saying that any self respecting steelheader is gonna break off a snagged fish at the fist sign. but still even a 30lb Chinnie chin chin (unless it is Chrome fresh) is no match for a 10lb wild fresh Steelhead, IMHO anyways, especially considering where you need to pull them from.

why you going to miss it? where is it going?
-
What would be nice is if we could buy the dam stuff except in those $20 cavier bottles in the delicacy stores. so did the boots hit like wild or did you just lift em by the tails and fill bags,...lol. Just kidding,..still surprised they havent dropped their load by now. where I been fishing they are Gonzo half covered with silt!!! those browns we saw on the flats must have been spawned out also hence just hangin around the way chinnies do after spawning.
-
Oh,...I didnt mean giving away locations,...Sorry I agree with that one For sure!!! that being said, I think every Steelheader in southern ontario was with you guys by the sounds of it,..lol where we went,..we only saw 2 other guys in 2km of river and that was on a Sunday, beautiful weather. But then again,...it was a tough go although there were quite a few fish there. Not complaining, thats the reason the fish got to Suntan, NO pressure. I will take one or 2 fish under those conditions over a few more under battlegear slaughter conditions any old day of the week. but thats just me.

Exactly,...3lb Drennan has the same Diameter as 6.6lb Froghair,....I dont think I would ever run less of either. you never know when that Brute is gonna hit, and i dont like losing fish, for my sake and the fishes sake. Generally I run higher in less Gin type water. It was soo clear that we actually saw my fish 2 hours later with my hook and white mesh in her trap, almost caught the fish again,...but it was mid day and they were less interested.

Chinny? are you telling me there are still chinnies down there? I have only seen one salmon in the past 2 weeks and it was a half dead blood red ho swimming upside down up and down the current and tramatizing the steelhead I was gunning for. I wanted to put him out of his misery, but he kept coming back to life, then he would go belly up and drift down,...then back to life. Harvesting Chinny roe is one thing, but brown is quite different and steelhead different again,..dont you agree? But I also know how good the later 2 especially brown work,...but like I said, to each their own. No Mongering and I for sure know it wasnt slit and tossed on the bank, like I have seen so many of....quite surprised a brown still had roe by now actually.
-
Do you mean #3 Drennan or #3 Froghair or what? HUGE difference. But I wasnt using #3, that would be dumb for this scenario, lol.
-
You shouldnt be afraid to express what you want to becasue some Donkey (including myself) makes a dumb comment, personally I think its funny and not personal at all. Post whatever you want within the rules and dont give a damn, what negatory comments are made. Besdies the salmon are done lol

Conditions were absolutely Gin,...this fish was in the middle of a fast rapid,...the one where your float goes all cuckoo,..so i was totally tight with the drift and had to rely on feel,...bump.. thats when I set it. The one that was tough but amazing was drifting the single into the log Jam and seeing the 8-10lb female go 2 feet to the side and snatch it. I confess, we did some light chumming,...we were 8' up on a bank on our knees when she hit,...to properly fight her, I slide down on my ass basically kept her tight, she came out of the logs and I thought I had her from there, but then darted back in even with all the side pressure, couldn't turn her....just held it so my float was 2 feet out of the logs, but she wasnt coming back and eventually broke off. I regret losing that fish more than any other ever, maybe becasue of the conditions and watching her take the bait, a little rare for steelheading I think. Fun none the less,...and I know where she lives so I will be knockin on that door again. Might just try the fly rod next time.

That Ho has the meanest Kype Ive ever seen,....lol. Quite obvious where you guys were now. Hope you left a few brownie eggs to spawn kinda surprised to see the last pic to be honest. To each their own. cheers,

Got out to a trib today with DMASSE and Bowshep, what a gorgeous day to be out, right down to the short sleeves by mid morning. Anyways, water was Gin clear and stealth was in order. Got this nice little female sitting in a quick rapid,...spunky fish. Early in the morning there was 8-10 of these guys hiding under a log jam some in the teens, big fish,.....crouched on our knees on the bank, we tossed singles at them,..most amazing thing I saw, a pretty large Chromer lunge 2 feet to the side and grabbed my egg,...the fight was on but it didnt last too long, maybe 15 seconds,..it was all I could do to hold him from buring him self in the wood work and he eventually broke me off. Came back to the same spot hours later and all 10 fish were sun tannin in front of the logs. Walking along a flat area, saw 2 Browns getting a suntan,...that was odd, snapped a pic of this one. Fun Day, thanks Dave and Ken.

Maybe the second was an Atlantic, tail is defnately more forked than the first one. The fish was about 8-9" I think and Im pretty sure they stock this river, anyone know what size they release them at?
