Twas the night before ohio youth season and all through the house the only 2 creatures stirring was me and the oldest boy in the house. the slug shells were placed by the shotgun with care in hopes that big 10 pt will be at the stand, Right there!!!! Taking my stepson out tomorrow for his first ever hunt. he is eight yrs old and has really been doing good with his 410 that i got him earlier this summer. at 35 yrds he is dead on and pretty confident. i hope to get him a shot on a doe at least sometime tomorow. wish us luck ! jason

the rut is taking off down here as well, i had to watch a real nice 10 pointer cross the field all loved up and in a trance on a hot doe, no calls or rattling could turn him in the slightest. keep at it fellas. good luck. jason

nothing sporting about jack lighting a deer, anybody can get one that way. might be worth a couple of drives around the property to see if any of these jerk offs are out and about tonight. jason

my school that i teach at closed the doors on thursday and friday of last week, that gave us 4 days to get healthy, today i had a student leave early and it was tested and confirmed h1n1 . its some pretty serious shi( we have been running on about 85% attendance here lateley in southern ohio jason

GCD has it right, dont run just stand and fight is your best option against any dog like animal, running just will invite an attack. any of the hunters out there should take every one they come across if possible. jason

misfish, not trying to rub it in, lol just happy to have deer loin for supper and dinner.lol my little man did some hurt on the stack last night though. i am so glad he loves it! i see 12 filled tags and alot more freezer space needed in the future. lol jason

got my first doe of the season a little bit ago and just got to reap the rewards tonight. this is the before pic and this is the venison steak and tenderloin cooking on the grill and last but not least 3 of my most favorite things. no p3ta worries here, when he was young and going over the farm animal sounds, the cow say moo, the pig says oink, the sheep say bahh and then u ask him what sounds a deer make, he says boooom. kelby(my son) coors light and venison loin. hope you enjoyed and to all you hunters that havent scored yet your day is coming. get out and harvest one. , jason

a coleman lantern, a crack in the window will go a long ways into saving money, is it the most comfortable no, does it effect the fishing no! it all depends on what ya want. for me it doesnt matter, but if i have the wife in tow it better be nice. just my thoughts. jason

damn joe, we must be brother's from different mothers, we think way too much alike. deer hunting, goat herder's, nascar junkies and fishing fanatics and buddy's up the road that can cut up deer anytime. guys youh ave an open invitation, any OFC member that wants to come down{or up} can hunt my farm any time they want (200 acres). its in adams county which some of you deer nuts will recognize as deer heaven. amish deer. bout 7 miles from the farm.

i understand what your saying, but she was shot about 300 yards off my yard. i just jumped her up on the back of the quad and brought her over to the garage and got the tractor and boom to raise her up and put the gut pile in a big tub, my parents own about 5 dogs and the organs and such are quite a treat for them. if i was way off i would have left them, but i have goats near the house and dont want any left overs that might attract coyotes any closer to my goat herd than they already are. hope this makes sense. jason

thanks guys, i was pretty excited. nothing like fresh deer steaks, should have her back and wrapped up ready for the freezer by thursday, one of my neibhors has a walk in cooler that i always take them to. jason

I have always hunted with a crossbow, but decided i wanted to try using a compound this year and got my first doe of the season on saturday evening. i got her coming in to a soy bean field about 5 o'clock. i have to say it was quite a rush to take one that way. one down and five to go(we can harvest up to six) best of luck to all the hunters and maybe the next time i can show off some antlers. jason

i didnt have much luck with it, it didnt even last a full season for me. maybe i just got a bad one, but it left me high and dry midway through my week in canada. i wasnt happy to say the least. jason
