  1. My uncle's place was just down the old highway in Oyster Pond. Bring a sturdy medium action rod. Beyond that stop at a local shop for what's on this time of year. You need salt water tackle. Wash out your reel often. I've had a lot of fun jigging squid off the Govt dock. Need a specialized jig. Lots of groundfish to be caught inshore. There are also some decent bass lakes in the area.
  2. So much to see and do here in Canada, that would cover more than a couple of lifetimes.
  3. 1:30 in the morning and I'm in the kitchen trying to get caught up on my chores. Only 40 more cases to go.
  4. Averie sure is sprouting like a weed. They grow up far too quickly. Love the family report.
  5. It is a real mess up there. Got to do the drive by coming home from St Jakobs. It's going to be interesting for the commuters over the next few weeks.
  6. On one of our fishing trips, the group set a rule that we all had to clean our own fish. Every year the same 3 guys, self included, wound up cleaning all the fish for 30 people. Needless to say, it was a bad decision . At least myself and the other cook knew which fillets not to eat
  7. Sounds more like Suomen suven. I can recall many an August night needing to fire up the woodstove.
  8. Far too many in the urban environment have no real idea about where their food comes from. Nor is it possible to educate them. Don't worry, the first real crisis modern society has to face and the citiots will be dropping like flies
  9. I have pollen and herbal allergies. They are not going to go away unless I leave farm country. Fresh mint and basil will get the nose running in less than a minute. Pollen is about trees and fruit pollen. Cherry and plum bloom is the worst. Then there is tomato pollen. You walk through the rows of tomato plants once they6 get shoulder high and get covered, head to toe, in a coat of green pollen. Corn pollen, released after a good rain, hits hard as well. The price of farming , I guess? I could do like one grower, and go for biweekly injections, but I prefer to stay away from that. The Aerius seems to be effective on making the symptoms bearable.
  10. If you stop in at the visitor center, they have a good map of the town and vicinity that gives some good detail on shore fishing spots. There is a lot of shore access right in town. Lots of boat access as well.
  11. Actually, it's because of public outcry, civil suits, and cowardly politicians, that the police have set rules on whether or not they may engage in a high speed pursuit.
  12. You want fire power to take down the big muskies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJjFNdJbmKw
  13. Hypothetical annual user permits????
  14. I tie a wire snell.
  15. He's a keeper. Cherish every living breathing moment. In the wink of an eye he will be all grown up and you will wonder where the time went.
  16. I won't be stopping in. Nothing to entice me either.
  17. I'm OK with the seniors license as long as everyone pays for a license. Whether that be a youth fee, a family rate permit, or the kids catch and possession limit is incorporated into a supervising adult's limit. After all, we want to be fair don't we??????
  18. Once she gets a little older, and her skills even better,........... I guess you'll be relegated to the role of cook and bottle washer???? But I think you wouldn't mind a bit playing second banana to the little cutie
  19. Yup. But he was still interesting as all get out to listen to.
  20. No one will ever be better than "RED"
  21. I'm surrounded by "Klompers" every day. When aren't you people P-Oed????? Klompen zijn voor bonken, niet voor bonking
  22. All these klompers shouting Hup, Holland, Hup? I still vividly recall Nederlands being beaten by a bunch of Danish milk men recently during UEFA competition.
  23. Big extended family brunch in the am. The afternoon filled with fishing with my children. Sat down on the riverbank, hammering away at a school of sheephead.
  24. At the end of it all, and having time to digest the whole trip, got to admit I am one lucky Dad , to say the least. It's quite something for Rob to put this all together out of his own pocket We are already talking about next year, but I don't think I'll let him foot the bill next time.
