  1. Looks like you had a good time. The "arm" is such a great area to fish. Thanx for the report.
  2. Beautifully written The pics were great. Definately a trip of a lifetime just with the scenery and wildlife. I could almost feel the cold of those waters on my fingertips.
  3. Indeed, 'Those were the days' 68 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5pkkAhETYg Of course, the lipsynching was terrible back then
  4. Up here we do the same to turnip greens, or as you might call them, rutebagers?
  5. Santa always carries an emergency stash
  6. It's a thing of beauty that no amount of money will ever replace. Passed on from one pair of caring hands to another. My son was given his great grandad's reel 2 years back. He cherishes it like gold. Just think of the stories and adventures that old fishin pole has seen.
  7. If'n the minners weren't working I was gonna have to pull out the spare 'red stick' I keep in my back pack. A sure fire cure for even the worst case of lock jaw
  8. They still have to catch the bum in the act. Odds are the perp. had left before a CO arrived. You don't win convictions on hearsay.
  9. You should guide the newbie, novice, etc... in the right direction eather than scold and belittle. Pointing to the "Ask a CO" site and other such sources will generate a far more desirable outcome. Sometimes, the newbie you rag on is just some 13-14 year old kid looking for answers. Unlike many of us, they weren't raised from the cradle with 'silver hooks and fishing line', and don't have somebody at home to teach them about the outdoors. Or they come from a part of the world where sport fishing is unknown. As experienced and skilled anglers we should provide sound advice on the forum rather than treat someone asking questions like a useless teat.
  10. I believe Guelph is still an 'electric only' lake when it comes to motors.
  11. BIG LOOPHOLES. Most financial regs look great up front, but read the fine print. You could run a battleship through some of the holes. Oops. Somebody apparently did.
  12. But we keep listening to the same whining. There 's not enough profit in running food processing plants/canneries in Canada. We buy foreign produce because Canadian farmers charge too much. Fact is a farmer receives a lower wholesale price for much of his fresh produce than 20 years ago, yet you pay more in the store. Either buy Canadian made and pay the price, or buy cheap offshore goods and pay the consequence. Don't wait too long. There might not be too many famers left in 5 years.
  13. Yer watching far toooo much of the boob toob. Get out and go fishing. Watch too much and you'll start looking like Henry or Chronzy
  14. Actually, a lot of your high end giftware, gardening and Xmas goods are Chinese made. If the wholesale cost of some trinket was $1, the profit margin is set at 100%, then the shipping and duties are factored in at 300-400% over cost (Lower if you bought in bulk). How else do you think C.T can retail a rod and reel at $29.99 and then clear it at $12.99 That $1.99 birdie for your Xmas tree had a wholesale price of $.40, then it got marked up. China is not going to get theirs, we just keep paying the added difference.
  15. Simple rules of geo politics. As the sun set on the British Empire, the American economic empire took her place. Uncle Sam is now a failing old man soon to be replaced by China as the driving force in the world. If we have any resources 60 years from now, maybe Canada will get a kick at the can. Not
  16. Despite the cold front that blew through, I was bound and determined to find some fish these last 2 afternoons. Yesterday, could not find the bass. Just some large pannies. Out again with my friend, Dave, doing the chauffeur duties. Again, tough time locating the bite. Found schools of minnows at a discharge pipe and watched the bigger fish busting the surface chasing them. Once we trapped a few minnows it was game on. No monsters, but lots of action just the same.
  17. Haven't been in 4 years, but, place is clean, folks are friendly, and the fishing can be real good. If Severn sound gets rough you're only a few minutes from launching in 6 Mile, Goucester Pool or the Waubushene flats.
  18. Have fun with your daughter whenever you can.
  19. My daughter is 16 now. She now starts the discussion with "so when we going fishing?" The answer is "anytime you want". She beats the shore with me or she runs the boat while I just work the troller. At times Anna just wants to catch some rays or take some neat pics ( she's done some great photo essays). I'll even let her drag along the latest 'boytoy' ( I need someone to pick on ) The best part? This is true for any parent. My kids want to be with me.
  20. WTG on the Daddy-Daughter time. That time is more precious and more meaningful than any day at school. At the end of the day you've both got smiles and, hopefully, a case of the warm fuzzies. Makes it always worthwhile.
  21. Great report. Haven't been there in years. Nice shot below the bridge in the rapids. Brings back memories.
  22. Nice to get those unexpected surprises when the bite is off. Thanx for the report.
  23. Alternate energies or..... Failing that "Memorial Gardens"
  24. Next thing I know you'll have 1/2 of OFC at my door plate in hand I may have to find me another fryer or 2
