  1. Squid jiggin. Now that'll draw a memory or 2 ta mind. Sitting on the govt wharf in a deep water harbour catching squid in N.S.
  2. I'm sure they're back on the ice engaged in their favourite hobby this season
  3. Of course there is also Genmar. Owner of some 20 odd brand names of boat. It's the way of the corporate world. Whether your talking toys, appliances, clothes, food.... Buy into it or don't. Your choice...
  4. Was just wondering if any Innisfil site is going to be available. I can see other municipal lots as being fair game.
  5. Added my voice. Does this mean the Tyler event is going to a different locale?
  6. You gotta be an area resident. NOTL does the same thing with fishing from public lands.
  7. A couple of the companies were at the horticulture and farm trade shows a couple of years back. I know a couple of landscape firms that bought units for urban contracts.
  8. A lot more European vans are showing up here in Canada. Much better suited to the urban landscape than a lot of North American product. Mitsubishi, Daihatsu, Saab, BMC, Suzuki, etc...

LAte May early June they are super aggressive. Can't keep them off the line.
  10. That's a slippery slope your a climbing.
  11. Which? The messing with sasquatch or the blue angel?
  12. Nice laker. The perch ain't shabby either.
  13. If you have Manitoba Maples near the house, these little fellas will be around in the thousands. Kids would have a blast smushing up large patches of them when huddled together. Just another one of Ma Nature's harmless nuisances.
  14. Any place with a decent beach and water will do at that age with a sidetrip an hour down the road for something different one day.
  15. When we took the scouts out, we needed a shelter for 12 to 15 people. Stick frame for a roof with a black tarp on top. Black tarp for floor, overlapped at the ground. Snow piled against the side wall as high as possible to seal the shelter against wind. Straw on the floor to insulate. Got quite comfy in there for 2 nights. A snow drift quinzy is the way to go if there are only 2-3 people.
  16. And every Sunday becomes Mother's Day, if you know what I mean
  17. But you still help out some 20 years later. As we get older it is harder to do what we once did, like dragging shopping carts, etc... out of creeks. We still can play a part. For me it usually means hauling out garbage from time to time, and participating at the club level.
  18. Find weedlines and weedy humps. Baited teardrops with maggots are great.
  19. For those who feel the OFAH is worthless. A few questions. 1) What alternative is there? 2) Are you stepping up to start something better? 3) Where are the funds coming from to aggressively lobby the province? 4) If you are suggesting OFC carry the ball, are you suggesting that TJ do so out of his own pocket, or are you willing to pay a membership fee? Like they say, talk is cheap. Look at a lot of your local clubs. The average age of membership in many is 60+. I don't see many younger anglers swelling the ranks, but I hear lots of them demanding action. Active membership creates action. Passive members sit and wait for others to do things for them and get nothing. It is that simple. For those who claim " I did my part 20 and 30 years back", what have you done lately. You still use the resource and it is still in need. More so now that fewer are willing to volunteer and pitch in. As for the politicians and their minions at the MNR. If you want them to pay attention. Make them take notice. That means action. They may not like you, but they will not ignore you.
  20. It's been running a few years. At it's peak, a couple of years back, top prizes were $100,000 for picking the tournament exacta and $1,000,000, for the top score at season's end. With the economy's downturn, prizes were downsized.
