  1. I won't go into great detail here because I have told the story a couple times before . But for those that have not seen my previous reports about this fish I will give you a quick run down . A small group of friends and I fish a fairly large backwoods lake in north/central Ontario a couple times each year ( love to fish it more but just too hard to get there ) Anyways starting in 2011 and continuing to this year we have caught the same lake trout out of the same bay 5 years in a row . The fish is identified by a small scar on its side and a small deformity on its tail . I have contacted the MNR about this and they can't believe it . They also advised me that this fish is a very old fish , 25 years old if not older ! I have never heard of anything like this before especially a lake trout . I have heard stories of a musky or bass being caught 2 or 3 times but never 5 times . Incredible/lucky story if you ask me . Here are the pictures everyone , enjoy For those people that say catch and release doesn't work on deep water lake trout , I would have to disagree Cheers all
  2. Good couple days there Joe , nice piceyes !!!!! I will be up again this weekend and maybe I will make it out this time . Good luck this weekend .
  3. Beauty report Mike , that place looks amazing . The video of Brendan catching that big walleye is great . I actually could feel the excitement/nervousness in your voices when that fish came to the surface and then into the net .
  4. Thanks for the report Pete , pretty soon he will be catching more fish then the old man !!!
  5. Bang on there Dog , as I said in a previous post the shield lakes I fish have the shoreline cover like downed trees and some weeds but are completely void of smallmouth during the daylight hours . The bass in these lakes are generally all open water roamers/feeders and don't head to the shallows until dark or not at all during the summer . These lakes can be frustrating to fish because it does't seem normal but once you figure it out , the fishing can be great !!!
  6. Wow , thats unreal . Does he know if it will effect the fishery at all ? I would imagine the average water temp might be higher with not as much shade around .
  7. Nice report , that's a shame about the fire but there is nothing you can do about it . Glad to see he is rebuilt and things are getting back to normal , some what . I guess it will take awhile for the trees to come back ?
  8. Awesome weekend for you guys , thanks for sharing ! Is that your cottage in that second picture ? Ha Ha !!!
  9. I fish a lake that sounds just like this one . It is a lake trout/smallmouth lake and we find the bass in nothing less then 15 ft of water over rock or they are roaming in schools over deep water chasing baitfish . Find these schools with electronics and drop a jig/minnow into them and hang on !!!
  10. Thanks for the report , that fish looks delicious !!!!
  11. I have wondered the same thing over the years but now I know . I have always kept my original at home in a "safe place" and have photo copies that I carry with me . Wonder if the photo copied card in paper form is even valid ?
  12. That is a very sad story , I often worry about my dog when she roams off into the bush on her little adventures and having the same fate . Sorry for your loss .
  13. Love my Weber Kettle , nothing like a charcoal cooked T bone Stay away from those flashy cheap bbq's , they don't retain any heat .
  14. Great report and some beauty fish to boot . Betcha the kids had a blast
  15. No , not the church . Southbound on Airport coming into town , they use to always sit there . I should of known better , grew up in that town and knew all there hiding spots
  16. Sorry about that Brian but I didn't see your post till after I sent that one . Like I said , that's a minor infraction and generally would not result in an insurance rate increase but get another one and plead guilty in the next couple years and your rates will most likely go up . Getting a ticket knocked down makes no difference to an insurance company unless it is at that minor/major threshold . Oh and by the way I too have got a ticket in that exact same spot in Caledon East
  17. I can bet it was a minor infraction , if it was a major I doubt the rates would be going down . Get another minor in the next year or so and your rates will go up , the insurance company now have you on watch !
  18. Frank is bang on here . Insurance companies rate speeding tickets as minor and major , that's it . Basically any ticket below 4 points is a minor infraction to them whether it's 25km over or 1 km over . It all depends how your particular insurance company works (1 free ticket/accident) whether your rates go up but it will go against you . If it is a major infraction you would want to get it knocked down to a minor or your rates will most certainly go up . Fighting these tickets are not all that hard if you just want to get it knocked down a bit , just mark the right box on the ticket (they are all different) send it in and wait for your day with the prosecutor , then just show up . If you were not a total ass to the cop (they will have his notes) the prosecutor will always cut a deal for a guilty plea . There might even be an option for out of town drivers like yourself to do it over the phone , I know they have this option in Peel region ( at least they did 5 years ago) So anyone who thinks when a cop gives you a ticket and says "no points" and think everything is ok , just remember your insurance company doesn't care about points (that's the MOT) they are just looking at guilty pleas on a minor or major infraction . Good luck
  19. Looks like a good trip . As for the lake trout , yes it is very frustrating to see them on the electronics chasing your bait but is all part of the game . By the looks of your screen shot the laker was interested but there was something a miss with your bait . Lake trout are real pigs when they are hungry and aggressive and will chase down your bait in the blink of an eye but when they are a little off they can be quite picky . The lake trout has real good eyesight so if they are in a non aggressive mood and they see something a miss with your bait/line they will turn away and head back down to the depths . Thanks for sharing and don't give up on the jigging
  20. Take care , glad to hear you are on the road to recovery .
