I will be dumping Bell as soon as my wife's blackberry contract is expired. I have already dumped one cell phone. I will then switch to eastlink for all services. I guess my last visit to a bell customer service store in the the New Sudbury Shopping Mall was the straw that broke the camel's back. When I asked the middle aged blonde lady about cancelling the service because it was far too expensive, she blurted out in a very condescending tone that I had to give them a 30 day notice. Bell has since contacted me a number of times and have reduced my internet rate, added many more free minutes and increased my wife's blackberry download time 5 fold. But it's too little too late. Where were they the previous ten years? They again called me a couple days ago offering to reduce my internet charges again if I agreed to sign a contract for the new rate. I told them I no longer do contracts and to blow it out their asses because they will probably try and penalize me for breaking that contract as well. And they continue to call me. lol I have been on sympatico for over 10 years with very good service. The last two years however I have seen a lot of down time. They never admit that their servers are down and then rationalize that it's probably a problem with my computer.

The winds have started and some light snow is starting to blow in Sudbury.

I recomend that you talk to a heating specialist/plumber about tying into your existing hot water heating system. It's a simple matter of installing a circulating pump if required and a zone valve to install an additional heating unit in the basement. I have done this on several occasions without any problems. I even salvaged an old cast iron radiator from the dump and had the plumber install it and it worked like a charm. THe rad was only 5 bucks as opposed to a new one for 500.00. You have to be carefull on location of course as this is very important. Installing water lines to the heater can be very expensive. It could be far cheaper than a nat gas heater and venting to the exterior. Baseboard cast iron heaters are also very expensive and you don't get near the btu's that the old fashioned stand up cast iron heaters throw out.

Nice picture. Are you sure this was taken from a tree stand? Looks like a crouching ground postion to me.

My wife and all my children had the flue two weeks ago, lots of coughing and teary eyes. some cramping. Some missed school some didnt. My son who also had it and got better and returned to school has come down with a different virus now and is out of school again and on tamiflu. Excessice coughing, trembling and weakness. I have not had any of it but I got my flu shot yesterday just the same. Better to be cautious then to be distrustful. Signed, "the old guy of the family"

Beautiful, beautiful pictures, perfectly exposed, excellently written narrative and a complete joy to read. It reminds me of my travels on the Berens and McInnis river systems. If you submitted this to a magazine they would reduce it to 3 or 4 pictures and a half dozen paragraphs. We are so lucky to be able to enjoy your post hot off the press. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Several years ago I won a $1,000.00 bill in a raffle. While in Toronto I went to three large banks to have it changed into hundreds. They all refused as I didn't have an account at their bank. Holding cheques is very normal for the bank. They are only protecting themselves. It makes sense. If I was a shareholder at that bank I would expect them to do the same for everyone.

1. When you say "our small lake" do you mean this lake is completely inside your acreage? 2. When you say "our small lake" does this mean it only belongs to you and some of your friends who live nearby? 3. Is this a case of NIMBY? 4. So, is this your lake or is it on crown land? 5. THought of hiring some tree huggers? 6. Sounds like the developers went through all the right channels. Sucks doesn't it? 7. Sorry bud, can't help you.

Just a personal choice. They are beautiful animals. I lived in Red Lake for twenty years and saw a lot of moose in my travels and a lot of moose killed. I guess I saw too many killed and the general attitudes of a lot of hunters after killing them turned me off to hunting them.

I put away my guns years ago and no longer hunt. I would prefer to shoot them with a camera. In regards to a lot of the comments ie; bullets or arrows, It makes me think back of all those moose that were shot once with a poor shot and were able to either walk away or run away for quite some distance and then given up by hunters. It happens more often then we like to admit. 30-06, elephant gun or whatever, the size of bullet does not matter as much as the placement of the first shot. Wounded moose can run a long ways into heavy brush when the sound of the gunfire reaches them. Using arrows, they are not sure what hit them and wont run in a panic it appears. I use to guide moose hunters but I never call myself an expert on the subject.

I don't use a program but use to. It's just as easy to pay the bill as soon as it comes in. No muss no fuss.

A great series and it comes with a beautiful book. Top quality on an HD large screen. Worth every penny. -
OFC man here. I've checked a few others like spoontrollers or spoonwashers and two others but they do not have the community that this one has.

My experience with Bell has gone on for about 14 years. When shopping around I find that for the same service, (landline, two cell phones, internet but not cable) works out to within a few dollars of an all inclusive pkg which would include cable offered by another company. My cell is now off of a plan and I pay about 19.00 month to month. My other cellphone, a blackberry (my wife's) costs me about 65.00 a month on a plan. When we look at another plan that throws in all the free bells and whistles the bottom line is only about 6 or 7 dollars difference which also includes cable. But they can never give you an exact cost on a monthly basis that you would be expected to pay. They then confuse you with multiple long distance plan pkgs. to make it more complicated. That log cabin in the bush looks more and more appealing. Soon we will be in a position where the blackberry is no longer on a plan but on a month to month and then we will be ready to bargain for a lower overall cost. If we switch before that we pay huge fees for cancelling a plan. Note that I have three teenagers at home which makes it five on the internet most times. Of course they all want a cell phone also!!!!! Communications is costing me a bundle every month. And it seems no one anymore can do without the cell, internet, cable, etc. etc. but I am always willing to give it a go.

Just voted for ya. Good luck!!

The link didn't work. At the bottom of your page where it says, "Enter Keywords", punch in Onaping Lake and you will get a thread on the lake. Good luck.

Bacon comes in vacuum packed plastic containers, and is loaded with salt. I wouldn't be far off in saying that it may have the same shelf life as "canned" bacon even it it was not refrigerated. Maybe someone can give it a test?
