It's a very good question. The bottom line is that it depends on the CO. If he sees you with these fish he must assume that they have been caught out of season. He will then issue you a ticket and of course you will have the opportunity to defend yourself in court after of course you have spent money on a lawyer and taken time off work to accomodate the legal system. Then you are out that money and time that could have been spent..fishing. If you, however, at the time the co considers issuing you a ticket and you have a credible witness with you to state that the fish were caught within season the co office may smell the coffee and forget the issue. Sometimes though, they don't smell the coffee

Buying new boat.Need urgent suggestion

I would go for it. If you don,t like it you should be able to sell it for what you paid for it. -
Installing Seats/mounting system opinions
gdelongchamp replied to Shane70's topic in General Discussion
That looks like a 16' prosport, same as mine. I am also looking at getting some seats. I will check your thread again. Is that a 25 or 30 hp two stroke on it? -
Thanks for the fishing report. I lived on that lake (McKenzie Island) for twenty years. I could go from my house to my dock to my fishing spot in 7 minutes. Great fishing and nothing compared to the fly-in outposts north of their.

Thank you Mike the bass fisherman and Musky and specks. I read the thread, went to the site suggested (Advanced) visited the gallery and zeroed in on a picture. I love the cabinet fishing rod holders and terrarium and will add it to my list of winter projects along with my oak built salmon smoker from an idea in Outdoor Canada or Ontario Out of Doors. You see, I also build things in addition to fish.

Would this be Lake Manitouwaning on Manitoulin Island?
-
Where I lived on an island quite often boats would disappear from the ferry dock as someone missed the last trip home after bar closing and would check the docks for a boat or canoe to make the trip across. I may have been guilty of that once or twice. (in my younger days). Of course they would always insure the boat was tied up properly on the other side. I began to use a chain locked to an anchor point on the boat, ( a transom handle) then run the chain through the outboard tiller handle at the base, then through the gas tank handle and the chain would be long enough to go through a boat mooring ring on the dock then I would place the lock there. Otherwise the chain would remain in the boat and everything was attached together. That had always been the best deterrent for many years. Somtimes I had to replace the ring on the dock. Of course everything is insurred and I have my pictures and ser. #'s.

Anyone have any experience with LEGEND
gdelongchamp replied to Shane70's topic in General Discussion
I purchased a 16' legend prosport this spring. Having been in aluminum boats for over 20 years.I lived on an island and boated to work everyday 7 monts of the year, using mostly starcrafts and alumamarines, lunds etc., I shopped around and the boat I purchased has a floor adding to the weight. Based on experience I outfitted my boat with a 30 hp electric. It is well suited to the boat as I myself weigh over 300 lbs. With two fishing buddies it moves along quite well. My son by himself flies in the boat. I chose a 2 stroke as it was 2000.00 cheaper than a four stroke. I am pleased with the package. Yes, Legend pkgs are all underpowered leaving the experienced boater with options to upgrade to the necessary hp. Unfortunately most buyers have not been in boats as much as I have and end up with an underpowered boat. -
This is my first post wherein I start a new topic. I was on the Island yesterday (Manitoulin) checking out a boat launch area in preparation for the salmon run. It's a fisherman's dream. Also counted twelve deer in the same area. Saturday I am heading up to Halfway Lake Prov Park for the weekend with the kids to check out the park and boat landing as well as the fishing of course. Anyone suggest any spots? I will be trolling and jigging windblown shore lines and small islands. I wish to get a feel of the lake and return later in September. Spent a week at Windy Lake Prov park but it was extremely slow for everyone. It was also my first time at this park. A pretty lake with medium pressure. Did get a small pic and a burbot. I spent a day near the hatchery on Manitoulin last weekend, beautifull weather made up for the lack of fish being caught. We got nothing. We were not outfitted with downriggers but simply jigging in 100' of water where ever our finder picked up fish. I prefer to fish walleye over anything else and unfortunately got spoiled as I lived for twenty years on Mckenzie Island in Red lake. Also managed a fly in operation 100 hundred miles north of Red Lake for a couple of years. They even bite on beer bottles up there. lol. So if anyone has any sugg for Halfway I will try them and submit a report. Thank You.

16 foot Legend with a 30 hp Merc 2 Pelican 16 foot canoes

As for your prop, you can start by removing the prop and checking for rope strands wound around the shaft. Build ups of old fishing line discarded improperly and left on the lake are also the cause of similar problems.

Heh Rzzo, tough luck you had. Keep an eye on for infection though. When guiding and doing first aid as I was in the middle of nowhere for "you guessed it" I had a nice little technique for imbedded hooks using a small piece of fishing line and two hands. Works very well. i will try and make a drawing and post it.

Boy , sure were a lot of comments about that little rivet. That story reminds me of when I worked in a fly-in outpost 200 miles from anything. If a boat had too many leaking rivets I would lay down a fibre glass cloth to cover the entire bottom of the boat and dump a gallon of resin on it. That would last up to two seasons. A lot of fishing was down in the rapids and the boats were portaged almost daily taking a real beating.

It's a Baltimore Oriole as per page 259 of my Roger Tory Peterson field guide. Very good you bird watchers.

PS My 12 year old and 14 year old girls can easily carry the canoes (about 70 pounds.)

CTC currently has a sale on canoes. Only 399.00 each. Made in Quebec by Pelican. 16 footers. They are an excellent buy for anyone who doesn't want to invest too much. You can also check their website for more info. They are the "Explorer Dix" model. Even come with a built in BEER cooler and BEER holders. I purchased two of them for my kids. As I said earlier, they are a good buy. I spent many days in canoes up north and have an appreciation for well built canoes. I prefer aluminum Grummans personally but they are very pricey now. And if the kids don't use them they can be resold in like new condition.

Lower unit (fin) damage (NEW PICS OF BOAT)
gdelongchamp replied to Shane70's topic in General Discussion
An adjustment to the trim tab may be all that is required. Also check the fins on the prop and file off any banged up edges. If you still have a problem flip the boat and check the keel(s). -
