I ran off and ordered a pair of the LLBean Pull on Wading boots with the Aqua Stealth soles and a single velcro strap ... really NICE boots ... but like an idiot I ordered them in my size (11) ... which fit great ... as long as I am not wearing my waders ... should have ordered size (13) If any worthy OFC'er could make use of them they are gone to the first $50 offer (with pickup) .... otherwise I am thinking we have an early donation for the next charity auction PM me quick before I change my mind They should be perfect if you are normally size 9 (or 8)

My prayers are with you and your daughter.

Yes ... I too am sceptical .. but then I watched the video again and heres what I saw ... 1) Roy ... nope looks like the fish cant get wrapped around the scoop (as long as you dont try to move/turn it until the fish reaches the hole) 2) For bigger fish Id say it could be a problem (unless the ice is pretty thick) - but then its a whole heck of a lot more sporting than a gaff 3) For bigger fish (once the head is up the hole you can kinda 'block the escape' while you reach in for the head 4) Seems to me that most fish have to lie around on the ice - freezing while you decide what to do next ... in this case you could have a 'live well' while you fiddle with cameras and the like - especially if you are planning to let em go Anyhow ... I probably wont get one because ... I think its just another thing I'll end up carting around in my trunk all the time "just in case" I go fishin tomorrow .. and I dont have any more room Anyhow I was wondering if anyone had ever actually tried it ... guess nobody from our gang has (yet)

I stumbled across this today ... http://www.thefishelevator.com... and came real close to buying one .. but I thought I'd ask our pros first ... so ... have you fellas ever tried this ? Like it ? Hate it ? Want one ?

Lead core will absolutely work if you dont troll too fast ... I have dragged botton at 160 feet ... trick will be to use a long (10 ft leader of no more than 6lb test) and a very light flutter spoon - like a mooselook or dartee ... that way you can go relaitvely slow but still get good action on your spoon ... I like to come to a drift ... let the line get down to (or near to ) bottom then 'gun' to trolling speed ... its amazing how many hits you'll get during 'take-off' When the bite is really on ... which can be for relatively short windows ... I will free spool line back out while gunning it forward ... then come to a complete stop to let it sink to bottom ... again .. many hits will come on the flutter to bottom .... and repeat from above ... By the way this works on deep August Brookies just as well as Lakers ...

Please keep us informed of the outcome ... it is important we share the good news along with the bad ... if only to maintain our own credibility Thx Jon.

I have a skin mount for a 11lb 8oz Pickeral from 1983 ... still my Personal best (and not from Quinte - it was from Calabogie) ... it still looks awesome ... and fresh ... and real... it was done by the now deceased "best in world" Jack Wilson .. so perhaps I am basing my opinion on a rare breed... I also have a 1lb 10oz Speck which was done by Advanced about 5 years ago .. it looks Speck-tacular (considering its a fake) ... but personally the skin mount looks and feels more authentic .. the replica (even though the fish was sacrificed to the cause) ... just doesn't look as real... but thats just me.

to follow you around to those secret speck lakes

Just keep that in mind next time you are snagged ... it will save you a rod tip or maybe a nasty line cut .... I hate the stuff ... although I do use it for the BIG toothy girls

Graph for me too ... I think the lag is more in the movement of the fish ... but I agree ... I like the fact that the mark stays on the screen a while ... I think I would get too mesmerized staring at a vex -

Thanks folks .. CT at Dundas east of 427 has gas ... and now ... it also has my wifes car ... I went back to get hers filed up too (figured I would be better safe than sorry ) ... and remembered why it is that guys always get the job of maintenance on the Mrs vehicles .... nasty grinding sound ( me thinks shot bearings) .... anyhow I felt like a part of a B grade movie ... sitting around in the Service centre .. all the mechanics gone home to their families for Christmas eve .. and me ... alone in the lobby waiting to be rescued ... and more importantnly hoping to get back home in time for the festivities ... Anyhow all is now good .. many kind folks offered me a ride home ... Canadian Tire has good karma in my books ... gas AND kind service late on Christmas eve !

Just spent the better part of my last 1/8th of a tank driving around Etobicoke looking for gas ... and while the prices are better than I can remember .. there is none to be found .... if anyone has the inside scoop (or knows what the deal is) please let me know Thanks and Merry Christmas to all !

I would say that Mr Eh knows his waters about as well as anyone ... and (especially when its early in the season) ... there is no excuse for ignoring the advice of police and local experts ... lets not have any bad news stories ... especially those that can be avoided with a little prudence ! -

If you are serious ... I mean really .. had enough serious ... butt the smoke thats in your hand right now out .... and put your lighter in your breast pocket as a reminder of your one-time habit. (I still have my bowl of matches and lighters right beside the dining room table) ... and 10 packs of smokes on the stove ... trophy's and reminders of my past ... I dont hate smoking .. I am just finished with it ... Pull that lighter out ... play with it... and reminisce whenever you need to ... but thats the end of it... and by the way Congratulations !!!! Here's to a long healthy and happy life. otherwise .. I wish you the best of luck...

Got mine a few years agos at the sportsman show .... but yes .. studying online is a good idea ... I was actually surprised how many types of marker bouys I had never come across ... most of the stuff should be intuitive to a seasoned boater ... but some things I truly never knew ... and could have been a problem had I been boating in unfamilair waters ... anyhow .. I say ... get it and be done with it.
