Thanks again everyone for your compassion and generosity, it really helps. We still have another big day ahead of us, the service which is going to be next Wednesday. Mom is doing OK but still a little shaken from the experience. It's understandable they were together for 56 years and to end up by her herself is scary. The 3 kids (my sister, brother and I) told her that we are there to help and to not hesitate in calling us when needed. Again on behalf of my family, Thank you everyone! Jacques

After reading your replies, I'm speechless..... in the sense of the generosity of the members of this community and want to thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. I know that some of you have gone through this and your replies have brought me relief and understanding of the emotions I was experiencing and want to thank you for that. For those that are going through this, want to say that, being at bed side is most comforting for your loved ones.... It makes them feel that they are not alone and not be scared, even with their body deteriorating at a fast pace. It's one less burden they have to worry about Again, on behalf of my family, thank you for being compassionate and so generous.... You guys and gals are the best Jacques

Guys, Just don't know where to start with all this.... Lost my mentor and most importantly my best friend..... My father had been fighting lung cancer for the past year and a half getting chemo & radiation treatments. Was admitted into a palliative care center about 5 weeks ago, it ended today at 12:25pm..... Will never forget the last weeks spent at his bed side.... he was a fighter and even today, fought to the very end... he just didn't want to let go.... The hardest part for me was to see him gasp for air all the while our family was there, including his sister that is celebrating her 79th birthday today. He definitely got great care and I'm thankful that his suffering ended.... I just could not stand seeing him that way anymore. Might be selfish on my part but he is now in peace and watching over us.... Will miss him dearly. Jacques aka Leechman
