  3. Thanks Glen... Yeah I know But what can I say..... he's a good fisherman The closest I've been to it is when I took the pic and that's ok.... I think I still remember what it feels and smells LOL The season ends March 31st but the ice on the shorelines is showing signs of wear and tear and don't want to take another chance at driving onto it. From the launch area to our spot, would be quite a trek and also the fact that it's a 260Kms trip out and back. For those reasons this was our last trip out to this lake. Thanks Sinker... yes the ones we manage to catch, are quality ones in size for sure. First time trying this year for those and can say that it's a blast when you can hook and land one When we left the ice and started our drive down the dirt road, the amigos and I talked about this and let's just say we had a gut feeling and that it was our last for this hard water season. Also for the reasons mentioned above.

  7. Great report and pics Cliff In the video of the whitie going accross the hole brought some good memory of my very first and man can they ever be hard to land. If it's any consolation to you.... got out today and lost my one and only fish that I was able to set the hook after the stike Don't have any tips for you but will say this "keep at it.... perseverance is key". Looks like a fun time out there and thanks for sharing Leechman
  8. Well guys, Today the plan was for the 3 amigos, Whitespinnerbait, 24-7 and I to hit one of our local lakes and see if we could get into some whitie action. Up at 6:00am, temperature was -1C with a light breeze from the West. Paul and I left home at 7:00am to pickup Kevin..... made a pit stop at Timmies for some hot refreshments and the way we go. As we were driving up there, along the highway, I noticed the tree tops were moving from side to side. To our surprise, the light breeze from the West was intensifying Got to destination at around 8:45am and proceeded to our favorite spot, the south end of the lake. At this point the wind was gusting and don't know at what speed but we could sure feel the windshield factor No snow on the ice surface but many slush holes which made driving a little unnerving. After punching the first hole, measured it for thickness and had a good 18" of black ice Got our gear out, tied on a Foxee jig and tipped it with Gulp fish fry. Did not take long before Kevin hooks into his first.... here's the pic Then it was my turn to hook into one but for unknown reasons it got itself off the hook while I was reeling it in After that we did move to a few other spots but the wind was so cold and gusting that we ended up going back to our original spot. And what do you know.... not soon had we arrived and setup, Kevin get's another hit and hooks into his second.... Here's the pic After that Kevin got few hits and misses and at around 2:30pm call it a day. Here's another pic of Kevin with his 2 catches Got home around 4:00pm and this would be our final outing on this lake this hard water season..... next time is going to be on softwater this coming spring for trout opener All in all we caught 2 whities and missed some... what a great way to end the season!! Thanks Paul and Kevin for a great time today Hope you enjoy Leechman
  9. Thanks Mike.... I certainly understand the hard work that is involved in undertaking home renovations. Hope that you can finish the project and enjoy the end results. As for hard water fishing, well you know that it wont be here for too long. I was certainly looking forward to meeting you this winter for some hard water action. Alas it will have to wait til summer. I know exactly where to go for some good fishing. Lac St-Marie is a favorite lake of mine come soft water and let me tell you that you won't regret it. Yeah Lac Leamy is only a short drive away from my place and it's a great place to target when you don't want to drive too far Until then... tight lines Jacques
  10. Great report and pics Kemp Those are real nice looking trout you got into congratulations Just never know what to expect when venturing onto new territory Great job and thanks for sharing Leechman
  11. Don't tell me that I bought you one from the Gatineau store and it's for nothing :w00t: I ain't too pleased about that bud JOKING hahahaha!!!!! Good on wayne for getting you one Terry
  12. I think you're in need of therapy.... you should stop re-arranging your tackle boxes and sharpening hooks immediately.... There's only one cure and it goes like this: "you must go out fishing as soon as possible to be able to at least find some inner peace of mind before it's too late" lol If for some reason it doesn't work, then you can always donate your extra fishing gear to a great organisation.... and remember that you have close family ties near by..... us OFC.... will be more than happy to accept them, somehow lift the burden of what you are experiencing lol Joking aside.... I think for you it's a hobby and not an obsession. Leechman
  13. Sounds like fun but where bouts on the river? is it in the bay in front of your house? Did not get your pm yet!!
  14. Thanks Simon.... I'm amazed too. So small and yet, can swallow the fish fry including the treble hook The thing is that I'm not targeting them and somehow catch them anyway.... go figure When I do target them, I usually rig a small jig head tipped with Gulp fish fry.... real deadly combination Talk about the fry.... started to use it this season and I'm a big fan also..... that stuff is potent and really works wonders!! Thanks Steve.... don't know but will have to be soon.... and when I do, would like to be out all day I just might take another day off next week and will call you. Are you coming to 31 Mile lake tomorrow for some whities??
  15. Poor old bugger's got the right idea and understand your dilemma..... I too feel the signs of withdrawals of not seeing your reports and videos Come on Simon, go out the back yard on the lake and take a video and post it.... just so I don't go insane LOL Please.... pretty please!! Jacques

  17. Great report and pics Glen I was kind of wondering as to when we would see another report from ya..... reading about the shads in the report, I now understand Loved the nature pics, especially the one of the geese, as you said, they make quite a racket and let you know that you are too close to them.... Pretty soon I'll be able to see them fly over my house come spring I was sure them cats you caught would of been your guests for the pan.... at that size, they're the best eating You weren't kidding when you said that the water would be chocolate color.... when does it clear up? Great job G and thanks for sharing Jacques
