  1. Killarney. You don't even have to go into the back country to find gorgeous scenery, George Lake has enough beauty. And it's a great smallmouth fishery.
  2. YEEEEEEEHAH! <-- Ron at Cobourg harbour
  3. Give 'em Hell Ron!
  4. Just had one of those door to door energy salespeople ring the bell. My wife handles the bills for that, but he said it was perfectly okay if I signed. Riiiiight... What kind of energy company allows anyone at the house to sign a contract on his clipboard? He wouldn't leave a card, but he had a tag around his neck that said 'Summitt Energy" so I punched "summitt energy canada scam" into Google and got 15,100,000 hits. Some of the stories you find at that link are frightening. Beware.
  5. Lately I've often thought of trying that spot, can you put a canoe in? No, if it was any colour other than white it would be a surprise! And as far as the 'gentleman' who pestered you, try eating some chili next time before you go.
  6. The only one I've fished at Killarney is George Lake, right where the main campground is. It's an excellent smallmouth fishery in my opinion, I just looked for rockfalls that descended into the water and dropshotted over them with Slammers. I have a trip report from last year here, wish we had gone again this year, the fishing at Grundy Lake was abysmal.
  7. No, it's a camera that wasn't held level.
  8. So, if a largemouth tastes like crap, do crappie taste like largemouth?
  9. Even better than a stiffer sentence would be lots of publicity. If I recall correctly studies have shown that crime goes down when people think there's a greater likelihood of getting caught. It's more effective than anything else.

  11. I'll probably register soon! Just one wee suggestion - make a facebook 'like' link so that you can post updates there and we'll get them.
  12. Whoa, nice stuff, but those hat-cams give me motion sickness.
  13. As I believe I've mentioned on this board before, I have flown powered aircraft, gliders, hang-gliders, and parachutes. Loved it all, no fear. But get me two steps up a ladder and I get the shakes so bad I would even spill a beer, which for me is a mortal sin. I might try that CN Tower thingy, but there would have to be someone to push me and/or pull me around it, just in case. Oh, and Kleenex, for the tears.
  14. Beautiful shots, finding those conditions are rare, you've got to take the opportunity when you get it. But... Fog? Mist maybe. I grew up in a little village in England, on the Thames estuary about 30 miles east of London, I've SEEN fog!
  15. Agreed, a lot of people were predicting the demise of local tackle shops when BassPro opened up, but Barkley's was the only one that appeared to close. BP has a dizzying selection, but if you just want to grab something quickly and get going the smaller local stores are still the way to go. Gagnon should survive.
  16. If envy is one of the seven deadly sins then you've just ensured that the rest of us are spending eternity in the fiery furnace! And being able to share that with your family makes it perfect.
  17. I've heard good things about Heart Lake and Mountsberg reservoir. You have to pay to get in, not sure how much.
  18. Take some antihistamines, might help lessen the reaction. Thanks for the warning!
  19. Just made some myself with some spare 20lb braided line. I was fishing for bass last week in an area where there were pike and/or musky, and after one or the other took a Slammer with a quick swipe of its head I decided I needed a steel leader. Also decided to try some topwater action and put a Chug Bug on. Mistake. Even a short steel leader sank the bug and made it useless, so it was back to the Slammers. Might try the braid leaders down at the bay tonight.
  20. Tried the Erin ponds yesterday. I have been there many times over the years, but don't think that I have ever seen so few fish as we did yesterday. One largemouth which might have been 1/4lb if it had just eaten, and some small sunfish. And nothing was interested in the selection of grubs we threw at them.
  21. Heck, I can walk there, might do so tomorrow. Thanks!
  22. Thanks, I was going to head in there this week anyway, now I can add those to my shopping list!
  23. I'm with Squid on this one, sounds like a time to celebrate a life well lived. Keep the sadness to a minimum and remember the great times, seems as if there were plenty of them.
